Rhythm Heaven Groove Drops July 2 on Nintendo Switch

The wait is finally over. Rhythm Heaven Groove — the first brand-new mainline entry in Nintendo’s beloved rhythm series in over a decade — launches on Nintendo Switch tomorrow, 2 July 2026. If you’ve never played a Rhythm Heaven game before, it is also the best possible time to start.

A Decade in the Making

The last mainline Rhythm Heaven title — known as Rhythm Paradise Megamix in Europe — came out in 2015 in Japan and 2016 in the West. Nearly ten years of silence from one of Nintendo’s quirkiest and most charming franchises, broken at last by Groove.

This is not a remake or a compilation. Rhythm Heaven Groove is a completely original game built on the same formula that made the series famous: deceptively simple button-press gameplay, relentlessly catchy original music, and art styles that shift wildly from one stage to the next. One moment you are rolling a hoop down a street; the next you are a stick figure wrestling milk cartons off a conveyor belt. The joy is how quickly each new minigame’s rhythm clicks.

80+ Minigames, One Brand-New Mode

Groove packs more than 80 single-player rhythm minigames and 30 multiplayer games (supporting up to four players), making it the deepest entry in the series by count alone. The breadth of art styles is wider than ever too — ranging from hand-drawn cartoon characters to quasi-realistic cooking scenes.

The headline addition exclusive to this entry is Beatspell, an RPG-inspired mode that is a first for the franchise. Rather than simply clearing stages in sequence, Beatspell sends players into monster-battling scenarios where rhythm is the weapon. It is an ambitious layer on top of an already rich package, and early previews have praised it warmly — TechRadar called Groove “on track to become my favourite Nintendo Switch release of 2026.”

A Beat With Soul: The Tsunku♂ Story

Rhythm Heaven has always been defined by its music, and Groove is no different. Legendary Japanese music producer Tsunku♂ — the creative force behind the series’ entire soundtrack — returns for this new entry. What makes his involvement remarkable is the context: Tsunku♂ was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer around 2014 and subsequently lost his vocal cords. He can no longer sing, yet he has composed the entire soundtrack for Groove without them. The music is as infectious as ever.

Try It Free Right Now

Nintendo released a free demo for Groove on the Nintendo eShop on 22 June, and the best part is that any save progress from the demo carries over to the full game when you buy it. The demo includes five single-player stages and one multiplayer game (Rhythm Tweezers). If you have not tried it yet, it is sitting on the Singapore eShop right now waiting for you — and there is no better way to judge whether you want to pick up the full release tomorrow.

How to Get Rhythm Heaven Groove in Singapore

Rhythm Heaven Groove is available on the Nintendo eShop Singapore from 2 July. The US eShop price is USD 39.99 for the digital version and USD 49.99 physical; check the Singapore eShop directly for local SGD pricing. The game is also compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility, so there is no need to wait for a dedicated Switch 2 version.

For a rhythm game fan, or anyone who remembers losing hours to Rhythm Tengoku on a Game Boy Advance SP, tomorrow is a good day. Keep an eye on our game news for more on what is landing on Switch and Switch 2 this month.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Drops Tonight — The Field of Pink and Gold Out at 11pm SGT

Toby Fox’s Deltarune Chapter 5: The Field of Pink and Gold is arriving tonight at 11pm SGT (11am EDT) — a free update for anyone who owns the existing Chapter 1–4 bundle. Singapore Switch 2 owners, clear some time this evening.

DELTARUNE – Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026 — via Nintendo of America on YouTube

Free for Owners Across Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC

Chapter 5 is a free update for players who have already purchased the Chapters 1–4 bundle, priced at USD$24.99 (check your regional storefront for local SGD pricing). The update rolls out automatically on:

  • Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2
  • PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5
  • PC (Windows) and Mac

It is worth noting that Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 have always been free to download separately on PC and Mac — so if you’ve been putting off trying the game, tonight is a genuinely good entry point before Chapter 5 adds even more story to catch up on.

What We Know About Chapter 5

Toby Fox has kept the specifics close to his chest. The Nintendo Direct reveal on 9 June gave us a glimpse of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei back in action — tackling new battles and exploring what looks like a temple setting. The new trailer showed an emotional moment where Ralsei enthusiastically declares his feelings for Susie in his characteristically endearing style, alongside a handful of new adversaries and returning faces. Nothing about the chapter title, “The Field of Pink and Gold,” has been explained — which is exactly how Toby Fox likes it.

Deltarune follows Kris in a parallel world called the Dark World, where they team up with classmate Susie and a mysterious being named Ralsei. Chapters 1 and 2 were released back in 2021, with Chapters 3 and 4 arriving together in 2024. The game is a spiritual successor to Undertale and shares its signature blend of RPG combat and emotionally charged storytelling.

Chapter 6 Is Already Ahead of Schedule

Toby Fox has confirmed that development on Chapter 6 is well ahead of where Chapter 5 was at the same stage. Work on Chapter 7 is reportedly set to begin before the end of 2026. That kind of momentum is a significant signal that the series is accelerating towards its conclusion — a pleasant contrast to the multi-year gaps between earlier chapters.

Last Words

For Singapore gamers, Chapter 5 hits tonight at 11pm SGT. If you’re on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s already in your library — just check the eShop for the update. If you’re on Steam or PSN Asia, expect it to appear right around midnight. Deltarune has been one of the most carefully crafted indie RPGs of the past decade, and “The Field of Pink and Gold” finally gets to tell us what happens next. Don’t stay up too late. Or do. Rhythm Heaven Groove Demo Is Live on Switch — Grab It Free Before the 2 July Launch

Nintendo quietly pushed the Rhythm Heaven Groove: Starter Demo to the Switch eShop today — and Singapore players can grab it for free right now. With the full game landing on 2 July 2026, this is your chance to try before you buy.

Rhythm Heaven Groove – Overview Trailer – via Nintendo of America on YouTube

Two Minigames to Try Right Now

The Starter Demo includes two playable minigames from the full game. Hoop Trundling is a single-player challenge where you roll a hoop in time with the beat, while Rhythm Tweezers opens up local multiplayer fun for up to four players. Neither is the most complex minigame in the series, but they nail the essential Rhythm Heaven feel — simple controls, deceptively tight timing, a smile on your face when you nail it.

To grab it: open the Nintendo Switch eShop, search for “Rhythm Heaven Groove,” and download the free Starter Demo. Note that save data does not carry over to the full game.

What the Full Rhythm Heaven Groove Contains

When the full game arrives on 2 July, it packs over 80 single-player rhythm minigames and 30 cooperative multiplayer minigames — a bigger scope than any previous entry. There is also a brand-new mode called Beatspell, a rhythm RPG that marks the first time the franchise has ventured into story-driven territory. The original soundtrack is composed by Tsunku♪, who returns to the series after more than a decade.

The Story Behind the Soundtrack

Rhythm Heaven Groove is scored entirely by Tsunku♪ — and that fact carries more weight than it might seem. In 2014, he was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer; by 2015, he had lost his vocal cords. He composed the soundtrack for this game completely without his voice, channelling his sense of rhythm and melody into every track. It is, by any measure, a remarkable creative return.

Price and Availability for Singapore

Rhythm Heaven Groove is priced at US$39.99, comfortably below the US$59.99 many first-party Nintendo titles command — the same price surprise that drew attention when it was revealed in April. Both digital and physical copies launch at the same price. SGD pricing on the Singapore eShop is yet to be confirmed; based on typical regional conversion, expect somewhere around S$55–60. We will update when official SGD pricing appears.

The game is compatible with both the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via backwards compatibility. Check out our latest game news for more on what is landing on Switch this July.

Last words

This is one of the cleanest “try before you buy” setups Nintendo has done in a while. The demo is short, free, and gives a real feel for whether the rhythm click works for you. If you have a Switch, there is no reason not to download it this evening — and if it does click, the full game at that price point on 2 July is one of the better-value Nintendo launches of 2026.

Happy 35th, Sonic! Here’s What Singapore Gamers Need to Know

Zoom. That iconic startup chime. The blue blur darting across a TV screen. Today, 23 June 2026, marks exactly 35 years since Sonic the Hedgehog first raced onto screens in Japan — and SEGA is celebrating all week long with new game reveals, collab DLC, and anniversary livestreams that Singapore fans should absolutely have on their radar.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Its Most Exciting DLC Yet

SEGA has confirmed Season Pass 2 for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and the roster of guest franchises is frankly wild. Six DLC packs are planned in total, with four already announced:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pack — July 2026: Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo as playable racers, plus themed vehicles, courses, and music
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Pack — October 2026: Aang and Katara, with new vehicles, courses, music tracks, and emotes
  • Godzilla Pack — 2027
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion Pack — 2027

For Singapore fans, that last pair is a very big deal. Evangelion and Godzilla have massive followings here, and seeing them cross over into a racing game you can already buy locally is genuinely exciting. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available in Singapore on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam — check the official SEGA Asia page for local purchase options.

Sonic Pico Park: A New Co-op Game is Coming to Steam

SEGA and indie developer TECOPARK — the studio behind cult hit Pico Park — are collaborating on Sonic Pico Park, a cooperative puzzle-action game set in the Sonic universe. The title blends Pico Park‘s chaotic team-based puzzle gameplay with Sonic characters, iconic levels, and special moments designed entirely around co-op play. It is heading to Steam in 2026, with a specific release date expected to be announced during this week’s anniversary events.

If you have ever played Pico Park with friends and ended up yelling at each other in the best possible way, this one is already a must-wishlist.

Two Anniversary Livestreams This Week — Mark Your Calendars

Sega of America is hosting a birthday livestream on 23 June (today), featuring gameplay, music, community segments, and a charity fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Check the official @sonic_hedgehog social channels for the exact local streaming time.

Then on 24 June at 7:00 PM JST (6:00 PM SGT), the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel hosts a special Japanese anniversary stream. The lineup includes voice actress Aoi Yuki, a DJ live performance, hands-on gameplay, and the Sonic Pico Park development team. Most importantly: the stream promises world premiere reveals that will only be shown live. New announcements, first seen anywhere. That is genuinely worth blocking out a Tuesday evening for.

What to Expect from the Reveals

Confirmed content for the June 24 stream includes the latest updates on Sonic Pico Park, new season details for Sonic Rumble Party, and additional Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC news. Beyond that, SEGA is keeping the world premiere topics under wraps until airtime — which only adds to the anticipation.

A Sonic Statue Made of DNA in Tokyo

In perhaps the most unexpected 35th anniversary story: SEGA and Japanese bio-art collective LOM BABY have created a life-size chrome statue of Sonic the Hedgehog containing a vial of synthetic DNA sealed inside a Chaos Emerald. Labelled with entries like “Velocity Cells,” “Sonic bIOS,” and “Boost System,” the sculpture is on display at SEGA STORE TOKYO in Shibuya PARCO starting today. SEGA describes it as bringing “the essence of Sonic — who has raced through the ages — into the real world as DNA.” If you are heading to Japan this summer, this one is worth a detour.

Last Words

Thirty-five years of going fast. Sonic has outlasted entire console generations, reinvented himself more times than we can count, and still managed to keep Singapore gamers coming back — especially with crossover moves like this. TMNT, Avatar, Evangelion, Godzilla in one racing game is the kind of collab list that reads like a love letter to the pop-culture tastes of this region. Tune in tonight and tomorrow for the live reveals, and keep an eye on our Game News section for follow-up coverage once the stream announcements drop.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Drops 24 June — Free Update for Existing Players

Toby Fox’s beloved indie RPG is about to get its most-anticipated update yet: Deltarune Chapter 5 launches this Wednesday, June 24 — simultaneously worldwide on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. If you already own Chapters 1 through 4, the new chapter is a free update.

DELTARUNE – Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026 — via Nintendo of America on YouTube

When can Singapore players get Deltarune Chapter 5?

The chapter drops at 11:00 PM SGT on Wednesday, June 24 (11:00 AM EDT / 3:00 PM UTC) — so Wednesday night is your window. The release is simultaneous on all platforms worldwide, which means no waiting for a regional rollout. Hit update on Steam, Nintendo eShop, or PlayStation Store at 11 PM and you’re in.

New to Deltarune entirely? The full package — Chapters 1 through 5 — is priced at USD$24.99 on all platforms. Check your regional store for local pricing.

What is Deltarune?

If you missed it: Deltarune is a free-to-play-then-paid RPG from Toby Fox, the one-man genius behind Undertale. It’s technically a parallel story to Undertale, featuring a cast of new and returning characters — including the reserved Kris, the brash Susie, and the endearing Ralsei — who dive into mysterious Dark Worlds to seal dangerous Dark Fountains threatening their town.

The game is known for its sharp writing, memorable music (entirely composed by Fox), and a battle system that rewards creative choices over raw power. Chapters 1 and 2 were released free in 2018 and 2021 respectively; Chapters 3 and 4 landed together in mid-2025 as part of the paid package. Chapter 5 follows roughly a year later — faster than many fans expected.

What to expect from Chapter 5

Fox has been deliberately tight-lipped about spoilers — and intentionally so. In his official newsletter announcing the release date, he wrote: “I want to surprise people playing the Chapter for the first time, so I avoided showing the most exciting moments.”

What he did share hints at a tonal shift from the increasingly dark Chapter 4. Addressing the story’s gathering storm, Fox said: “In Chapter 4, we saw dark clouds on the horizon… That’s why, let’s not look there for now. Let’s turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely. Let’s smile again. Let’s have one more fun adventure, okay?”

GamesRadar reports the chapter carries the subtitle The Field of Pink and Gold, suggesting a warmer, more colourful adventure before the inevitable reckoning the story has been building toward. As Fox himself put it: “In my opinion, it fits well in the overall story of the game.”

Chapter 6 and 7: the road ahead

Deltarune is a seven-chapter project, and the good news is that Fox’s team is already deep into Chapter 6 development. From the same newsletter, here’s where things stand:

  • Cutscenes / NPC interactions: Making good progress
  • Overworld gameplay: All the basic gimmicks of the chapter are created
  • Normal enemies & bullets: Mostly complete
  • Boss & bullets: Working on the final battle’s bullet patterns

Fox noted that “this Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast,” adding that “it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year.” Given that Chapter 7 is the planned final chapter, the end of Deltarune’s journey is now in sight.

Last words

Whether you are a day-one Undertale fan or someone who only just discovered Deltarune through word of mouth, Wednesday night is a great excuse to stay up past 11 PM. The update is free, the game is charming, and after years of waiting it really is nearly here. Singapore players — mark your calendars for June 24, 11 PM SGT. Pokémon Champions Mobile Is Here — Singapore Hit #1 on iOS

Singapore trainers, we showed up. Pokémon Champions — The Pokémon Company’s official competitive battling game — launched on iOS and Android on 17 June 2026, and it shot straight to #1 on the Singapore iPhone App Store on day one. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, here’s everything you need to know.

🏆 Pokémon Champions is coming to mobile platforms June 17! — via The Official Pokémon YouTube channel on YouTube

What Is Pokémon Champions?

Unlike the mainline RPGs where you explore towns and catch Pokémon in the wild, Pokémon Champions is built around one thing: battling. It strips the adventure down to a pure competitive experience — types, Abilities, moves, held items, the works — putting you up against real trainers from around the world in ranked matches. No story mode, no catching wild encounters. Just strategy and team-building, which is exactly what competitive players have always wanted.

The game first launched on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 8 April 2026. The mobile version, which arrived on 17 June 2026, brings that same competitive experience to iOS and Android with no content stripped out. It’s free-to-start.

Singapore Hit #1 — and We Weren’t Alone

On launch day, Pokémon Champions topped the iPhone App Store free downloads chart in 13 countries — and Singapore was one of them. Across Asia, the game went #1 in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand as well. Even in Western markets it was dominant: USA, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Brazil all had it at the top.

As of June 18, it was still #1 in 9 of those countries, top 5 in 29 countries, and ranking in the top downloads overall in 38 countries. On Google Play, it’s already sitting at a 4.4-star rating across over 21,000 reviews. Singapore, you delivered.

Battle on Mobile, Switch, or Both — It Doesn’t Matter

Pokémon Champions cross-platform gameplay between mobile and Nintendo Switch

One of the best things about the mobile launch is the full cross-platform play. Mobile trainers go up against Switch and Switch 2 players — there’s no split player base. If you’ve already been grinding ranked on your Switch since April, you can link your Nintendo Account and your save data carries over to mobile. Pick up right where you left off, on the bus, during lunch, anywhere.

Regulation M-B and Season M-3 of Ranked Battles also kicked off alongside the mobile release, so this is a good time to get in on the current competitive meta from the ground floor.

Grab Your Free Mega Raichu Before September

To celebrate the mobile launch, The Pokémon Company is giving every player a free Raichu along with Raichunite X and Raichunite Y — the Mega Stones that power up Raichu’s two new Mega forms in Champions. Log into the game, check your in-game mailbox, and claim them. The offer runs until 2 September 2026 (Singapore time), so there’s no rush — but no reason to wait either.

Pokémon Champions is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. The game does have optional paid content, so keep that in mind if you’re playing on a budget.

Last words

Singapore’s #1 ranking on launch day isn’t a surprise — competitive Pokémon has a passionate community here, and a dedicated battling app with full cross-platform play is exactly what many of us have been asking for. If you’re a competitive trainer or just Pokémon-curious, this is the best time to jump in: the meta is fresh, the free Mega Raichu gift won’t last forever, and your Switch progress already transfers if you’ve been playing since April. Download it, claim your Raichu, and let’s see what Singapore’s ranked scene looks like by Season M-4.

Rhythm Heaven Groove Arrives on Nintendo Switch, 2 July

After more than a decade without a new mainline entry, Rhythm Heaven Groove is tapping its way onto Nintendo Switch on 2 July 2026. In Singapore and across Asia, the game launches under the title Rhythm Heaven: Miracle Stars — and pre-orders are live right now on the Nintendo eShop.

Rhythm Heaven Groove – Overview Trailer – Nintendo Switch — via Nintendo of America on YouTube

Over 80 Brand-New Rhythm Games to Master

Every one of the 80-plus minigames in Rhythm Heaven Groove is completely original — no recycled stages from earlier entries. Each game comes with its own distinct art style, giving the whole package a colourful, unpredictable energy that keeps things fresh from the first tap to the last. The core mechanic stays true to the series: hit the beat, keep your timing perfect, and ride the groove.

Beatspell — A Series-First RPG Mode

The most intriguing addition is Beatspell, a brand-new mode where you play as a wizard battling monsters by casting rhythm-powered spells. It’s unlocked as you progress through the single-player stages, and it’s the first time the franchise has ventured into RPG territory. Early previews describe it as a genuinely fun wrinkle on the formula — one that rewards players who have already sharpened their timing on the main game.

Multiplayer for Up to Four Players

More than 30 stages are designed for co-op or competitive play with up to four friends using Joy-Con controllers. Whether you’re gathered on a sofa or playing in tabletop mode, the multiplayer suite is one of the broadest in any Rhythm Heaven game to date. Critics who have previewed the game have flagged it as one of the Switch’s standout party titles this year.

Tsunku♂ Returns — and It Means a Lot

Series composer Tsunku♂ is back on the soundtrack, a return that carries real emotional weight for longtime fans. Tsunku♂ — the legendary musician behind every previous entry — has faced serious health challenges in recent years, making his involvement here all the more meaningful. The music is, as ever, central to the whole experience.

The game was co-developed by Nintendo EPD and TNX. It supports English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean, making it a well-localised release for the Singapore and broader Asian market. It’s also backward-compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

Last Words

Ten years is a long time to wait for a rhythm game, and Rhythm Heaven Groove looks like it was worth every minute of the wait — 80-plus original games, a fresh RPG mode, strong multiplayer, and Tsunku♂ back on the keys. Singapore Switch owners: pre-orders are open at the Nintendo Singapore eShop right now. Check our game news for more Nintendo updates.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Is Out Next Week — Free Update on All Platforms

Toby Fox’s acclaimed RPG series is adding its next chapter in under a week. Deltarune Chapter 5: The Field of Pink and Gold launches simultaneously worldwide on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at 11 a.m. EDT — that is 11 p.m. SGT on the same night — and it arrives as a free update for everyone who already owns the game.

DELTARUNE – Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026 — via Nintendo of America on YouTube

One More Adventure Before the Final Act

If Chapter 4 left you feeling unsettled — dark clouds on the horizon and all that — Fox says Chapter 5 is a deliberate tonal shift. In his release-date newsletter he described it as a chance to “turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely” and enjoy “one more fun adventure” before the story heads into its closing chapters. The Dark World this time is built around Asgore’s flower shop, Flower King, which explains the floral enemies, the sprawling pink-and-gold colour palette, and the chapter’s subtitle.

Fox also confirmed he deliberately kept the best moments out of the reveal trailer, writing that he “avoided showing the most exciting moments” to preserve first-time surprises. The 46-second Nintendo Direct clip is restrained on purpose — trust that there is more waiting inside.

What Singapore Players Need to Know

The release is simultaneous worldwide, so no region-locking to worry about. Here is the quick breakdown:

  • Release time (SGT): Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at 11 p.m.
  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, PC (Windows), Mac
  • Existing owners: Free update — no extra purchase needed
  • New to Deltarune? All five chapters are bundled for USD 24.99 on Steam, the Nintendo eShop, and the PlayStation Store (approximately S$33–35 at current rates; local storefront pricing to be confirmed)
  • Just curious? Chapters 1 and 2 remain free to download on all platforms

What Comes After Chapter 5?

The series is planned as a seven-chapter story, and Fox shared some welcome news on that front: Chapter 6 is already in active development and moving faster than previous chapters, with some staff potentially beginning work on Chapter 7 before the year is out. With Chapter 5 arriving this week, the finish line of one of gaming’s most beloved indie stories is starting to come into view.

Follow our Game News section for updates as Chapter 5 drops next week.

Rhythm Heaven Groove: What Singapore Players Need to Know

The previews are in, and they are glowing. Nintendo’s beloved rhythm series returns on 2 July 2026 for Nintendo Switch after an eleven-year absence — and the early word from media who played it suggests the long wait was absolutely worth it.

Rhythm Heaven Groove – Overview Trailer – Nintendo Switch — via Nintendo of America on YouTube

Eleven years later, Rhythm Heaven is back

The last mainline entry — known as Rhythm Paradise in Asia and Europe — was Rhythm Heaven Megamix in 2015 on the Nintendo 3DS. Rhythm Heaven Groove is the first brand-new game since then: no compilation, no remake — a fresh collection of over 80 single-player rhythm mini-games and more than 30 multiplayer games for co-op and competitive play. It launches globally on 2 July 2026 for Nintendo Switch and is backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

The concept has always been beautifully straightforward — press buttons in time with the music — but what makes the series special is how every mini-game uses its unique audio-visual pairing to make that simple input feel satisfying in a completely different way each time. Nintendo Life’s Alex Olney, who played a preview build, wrote that despite the simplicity, “yet I had difficulty getting bored with most of them,” capturing the series’ mysterious pull. TechRadar went further, calling it “on track to become my favourite Nintendo Switch release of 2026.”

What’s new: Beatspell, multiplayer, and 80+ mini-games

Groove introduces a brand-new mode called Beatspell: an RPG-style campaign where players become wizards and cast rhythm-powered spells to fight monsters. Damage dealt is based on your timing accuracy, layering light RPG progression on top of the series’ core mechanic. It unlocks as you progress through the single-player game. Reviewers found it “strangely engaging” — PC Mag compared it to “freestyling” — though some noted it feels like a self-contained experience rather than a natural extension of the mini-game flow. Either way, for a series that has stuck to the same structure since the GBA, this is an ambitious addition.

The multiplayer suite looks genuinely strong for a party game. Nintendo Life highlighted Ninja Bodyguard, a co-op mode where two players time button presses to protect a king from incoming arrows, and Cake Grab, a competitive game where players press A as close to 3 PM (in-game time) as possible to claim a slice of cake — the winner’s hair grows with each victory. Metro’s preview of the multiplayer, as reported in the Nintendo Life preview roundup, called it “a boon for the Switch’s multiplayer arsenal.”

The music is by Tsunku♂ — and that story is worth knowing

Every Rhythm Heaven soundtrack has been composed by Tsunku♂, the Japanese music producer who created Hello! Project and Morning Musume. In 2014 he was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, and in 2015 surgery removed his larynx, ending his singing voice permanently. He composed Rhythm Heaven Groove‘s entire original soundtrack after that surgery, as noted by Nintendo Inquirer — a fact that adds a quiet weight to every earworm the game produces.

The soundtrack spans the full Rhythm Heaven tonal spectrum: absurd, bouncy, strangely emotional. Each of the 80-plus mini-games is paired to an original track purpose-built to function as a timing guide while also being a song worth listening to on its own. That dual-purpose design is the series’ signature magic, and previews confirm it is intact here.

Last words: Singapore pre-orders and what to expect

Nintendo Singapore has an official page for Rhythm Heaven Groove, confirming it for the region. Physical copies are available for pre-order now at ToyOrGame.com.sg (S$10 deposit, full price to be confirmed), and the game will be stocked on Shopee and Lazada at launch. The US price is USD$39.99 — when it was confirmed, Nintendo Life called it a “welcome surprise” given that most Nintendo first-party titles launch at USD$59.99 or higher. The local SGD price has not been officially announced, but that US pricing bodes well for Singapore fans.

If you played the DS or Wii entries and still remember the staccato satisfaction of a perfect frog leap or a well-timed wrestling pose, Groove is the one to mark on your calendar. It launches 2 July on Nintendo Switch — and the Switch 2 plays it natively too. Keep an eye on our Game News section for a full impressions piece closer to launch.
