What Is SSS-Class Revival Hunter?

If you enjoy hunter-rank fantasy manhwa — think Solo Leveling territory — this is already on your radar. SSS-Class Revival Hunter began as a web novel by Sinnoa on Munpia in 2018, then launched as a manhwa adaptation by Neida (story) and Bill K (art) on KakaoPage in December 2020. The English edition runs on Tapas and through Yen Press’s Ize Press imprint in print.

The hook is a death-loop mechanic that feels genuinely fresh even in a crowded genre. Kim Gongja starts as an F-rank Hunter — the absolute bottom of the food chain — who gains access to an impossibly rare S-rank copy skill. The catch: he has to die to activate it. Every death sends him back 24 hours and lets him copy the abilities of whoever killed him. His ghostly companion through this ordeal is the Sword Emperor, the world’s former top-ranked Hunter, whose power gets absorbed through Gongja’s first death. Revenge, obsession, and a slow climb from the depths — the series has built a devoted following across Asia for exactly this kind of escalating power fantasy done with real stakes.

Studio, Director and Voice Cast

The anime is produced by STUDIO fu, directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, with scripts by Sayuri Oba and character designs by Takahiro Yoshimatsu (whose credits include A Place Further Than the Universe).

The core voice cast announced so far: Takeo Otsuka voices Kim Gongja, with Satoshi Hino as the Sword Emperor. No episode count or exact premiere date within January 2027 has been confirmed yet.

Singapore and SEA Crunchyroll Streaming

Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream SSS-Class Revival Hunter worldwide excluding most of Asia — but Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and the Indian subcontinent are all explicitly included. Local fans can catch the simulcast via their existing Crunchyroll subscription when the Winter 2027 season kicks off in January.

Korean manhwa adaptations have had a strong run on Crunchyroll since Solo Leveling broke out in early 2024, and studios are clearly betting the genre has real staying power with Southeast Asian audiences. Given the series’ built-in fanbase on Tapas and KakaoPage, there is already a ready Singapore crowd waiting. Catch up on the manhwa now via Tapas or pick up the print volumes from Yen Press before January arrives. For more anime and manga news, check our full coverage.
