EU Clears the $55 Billion EA Buyout — What Singapore Gamers Should Know

If you play EA Sports FC, Apex Legends, or The Sims, the company behind your game is about to change hands in the biggest gaming buyout ever recorded — and one of the last major regulatory checkpoints just cleared.

Europe Waves Through the Biggest Gaming Deal in History

On 23 July, the European Commission cleared the acquisition of Electronic Arts by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). At USD $55 billion, this is the largest leveraged buyout in history — dwarfing previous gaming M&A deals by a substantial margin.

PIF will hold 93.4% of EA once the transaction closes. Private equity firm Silver Lake takes 5.5%, and Affinity Partners holds the remaining 1.1%. EA shareholders already voted the deal through in December 2025 at $210 per share in cash — a 25% premium to the pre-announcement trading price.

The EU competition watchdog’s conclusion was clear: “The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given its limited impact on competition in the markets where the companies are active.” Europe sees no monopoly risk in PIF owning EA.

Two Checkpoints Remain Before the Deal Closes

EU antitrust approval is the biggest box ticked, but two items are still in progress. The European Commission is also running a separate Foreign Subsidies Regulation review — the mechanism Brussels uses to scrutinise deals involving state-backed acquirers like PIF — and a decision is expected by 30 July. On the US side, a CFIUS national-security review is still required; several US lawmakers previously called for scrutiny of a foreign sovereign wealth fund purchasing a major American entertainment company.

If both clear, the deal is expected to close in Q1 2027. EA would then delist from Nasdaq and operate as a private company. Andrew Wilson remains CEO, and EA stays headquartered in Redwood City, California. Wilson described the combination as a platform to “deliver extraordinary experiences for hundreds of millions of fans,” while PIF Deputy Governor Turqi Alnowaiser said PIF is “uniquely positioned in the global gaming and esports sectors.”

FC 27, Apex Legends, The Sims — What Could Change for Singapore Players

EA Sports FC 27 street football mode

EA’s catalogue is among the most-played in Singapore. EA Sports FC is the dominant football simulation on local servers, and FC 27 launches 25 September with Mbappé as cover star. Apex Legends, The Sims 4, Dragon Age, Battlefield, and Need for Speed are all under EA’s umbrella, and none of that changes on day one after closing.

The concern that follows any deal of this scale is financial: EA is taking on roughly USD $20 billion in debt to help fund the buyout. Private companies carrying that kind of leverage have historically turned to aggressive monetisation to service the load — and EA already runs some of the industry’s most lucrative live-service models, with Football Ultimate Team (FUT) generating enormous revenue each year. Whether PIF’s long-horizon sovereign fund model enables more patient game development — freed from the quarterly earnings pressure of being a public company — or whether the debt load pushes harder monetisation, is the open question every EA player will be watching.

Saudi Arabia’s Expanding Stake in Global Gaming

PIF has been building a gaming portfolio for several years through its Savvy Games Group arm, which previously acquired stakes in Capcom, Nexon, Nintendo, and others. EA would become by far the largest direct holding — not a minority stake but an operating acquisition of one of the world’s top five game publishers.

For Singapore’s gaming market, one of Southeast Asia’s most active, the practical near-term impact is minimal. Servers run as usual; account details, purchases, and subscriptions carry over. But the ownership behind every EA login screen shifts, and the timeline to watch is 2027 onward: how the new private structure reshapes EA’s pricing, release cadence, and live-service strategy will become clearer once the deal formally closes. Singapore gamers — especially the FC community — will have a front-row seat.

Keep tabs on gaming industry news here as the remaining approvals come in.

ACGHK 2026 Opens Today — hololive, Demon Slayer VA Live in Hong Kong

The 27th Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong opened this morning, and it is already shaping up as the most expansive edition in ACGHK’s history. Running 24–28 July 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event expanded into Halls 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously for the first time — its largest floor plan ever — with 201 exhibitors and 689 participants across five days.

For Singapore fans, ACGHK is one of the most accessible cons in the region — a 3.5-hour flight, an MTR stop from the HKCEC, and a line-up that routinely pulls exclusive reveals and guests you won’t see anywhere else in Asia. This year is no different.

Cover Corporation and Medialink Group have launched a collaboration themed around an afternoon tea party, featuring seven talents across three divisions of hololive: Shirakami Fubuki and Momosuzu Nene (hololive JP), Kobo Kanaeru (hololive Indonesia), and Ninomae Ina’nis, Hakos Baelz, Fuwawa Abyssgard and Mococo Abyssgard (hololive English).

The “It’s holo-tea time!” collection is available exclusively at Medialink’s Booth E01 in Hall 1 throughout ACGHK. The merchandise line is wide: linku blind box plushies (HKD$79 each, $395 for the full set of 5), heart-shaped badge sets (14 designs, $38/piece or $392 for the complete set), acrylic stands ($98 each), teacup-shaped keychains, an art book ($98), T-shirts ($200), perfume ($298), and lucky bags packed with paper goods and textiles.

A second hololive collection, hololive natsu Paradise – hololive Generation 0, is also available at the same booth, covering a separate set of Gen 0 talents with summer-themed designs. SG fans who can’t make the trip should watch Medialink’s online store — convention exclusives have historically sold out but sometimes restock online weeks later.

Kengo Kawanishi and Sumire Uesaka Live on Stage

Two Japanese voice actors are on the guest list this year. Kengo Kawanishi — the voice of Muichiro Tokito in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — is performing live at the HKCEC over the weekend. Joining him is Sumire Uesaka, known to SG fans as Motoko Kusanagi in the recent Ghost in the Shell anime and Hayase Nagatoro in Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro. Uesaka is also a JPop artist, so her appearances often include musical performances alongside stage talk.

ShishiWata Virtual Fan Meeting

On the VTuber side, hololive’s beloved duo Shishiro Botan and Tsunomaki Watame — known together as “ShishiWata” — are headlining a virtual fan meeting at ACGHK. The pair have been a fan-favourite pairing for years, and their ACGHK appearance (even in virtual format) marks the first major region-wide fan meeting for this duo outside Japan.

Three Halls, Pokémon TCG, and Record Scale

  • Dig Dig Island — a new collector zone for designer figures and art toys, curated by animator Neco Lo
  • ElefunPop Art & Toy Show — 47 international designers
  • Pokémon TCG — making its ACGHK debut with a dedicated photo zone
  • Hot Toys — a 4.5-metre Spider-Man installation

Practical Info for SG Fans Heading to ACGHK

Avatar: Seven Havens — First Trailer Drops, Oct 9 Premiere

The Avatar franchise’s next chapter finally has a face. Avatar: Seven Havens dropped its official teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 on Thursday, revealing an October 9 premiere on Paramount+ and introducing Pavi — the Earthbending successor to Korra — along with a startling twin-Avatar twist that sets the new series apart from everything that came before.

A World That Fears Its Own Avatar

The setting of Seven Havens picks up after the events of The Legend of Korra, but the world it depicts has fallen apart. A devastating cataclysm — possibly linked to Korra’s merging of the physical and spirit worlds — has shattered civilisation, and what remains of humanity has retreated into seven isolated strongholds known as the Seven Havens. In this bleak new era, the Avatar is not a symbol of hope. The teaser’s most striking line drives the point home: the title marks its bearer as humanity’s destroyer, not its saviour.

The show is produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studio as a 2D-animated series across 26 episodes, split into two books in keeping with the franchise’s tradition.

Meet Pavi — and the Twin Who Could Change Everything

The new Avatar is Pavi, a young dark-skinned Earthbender voiced by Saheli Khan, living in the sandy, windswept city of Allura. She walks with a wooden prosthetic in place of her left leg — a quietly significant design choice from character designer Sara Kipin — and carries a cautious, guarded personality that sets her apart from the brash Korra.

Early in the story, Pavi discovers she has a long-lost twin sister named Nisha (Aishu Devan), who is aggressive and outgoing where Pavi is measured. The twist: both sisters can bend all four elements. Both believe they are the true Avatar. That central conflict — two people with equal claim to the most powerful role in the world — gives Seven Havens a premise that no prior Avatar series has attempted, and the trailer hints at it without spelling everything out.

Korra’s Shadow Looms Over the New Story

Korra is not entirely absent from the teaser. A brief flashback shows her in the Avatar State — the white-glowing-eyes moment that the franchise has always used for its most pivotal scenes — offering a glimpse at what may have preceded the world’s collapse. Whether Janet Varney will return to voice the character beyond the teaser footage has not been confirmed by Paramount or Avatar Studios.

The Creators Who Built the Original Are Back

Perhaps the single biggest signal that Seven Havens is worth taking seriously: it is created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the duo behind both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. After their well-publicised departure from the Netflix live-action adaptation, their return to the animated medium — and to the universe they built — is the news many fans were waiting for before committing to a new entry.

Completing the reunion is composer Jeremy Zuckerman, whose scores for both the original series and Korra became as iconic as the shows themselves. The full voice cast also includes Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae (an airbender who serves as Pavi’s mentor), Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker voicing both Geet and Ruhi — Baker previously brought Appa and Momo to life in the original series, and Geet, Pavi’s cat-monkey companion, looks to continue that tradition of memorable animated animals.

26 Episodes Drop All at Once — Here’s the Singapore Catch

All 26 episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens will drop simultaneously on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026 — no weekly releases, no waiting between books. For fans in the US, Australia, or Canada, it will be a full-season binge from day one.

For Singapore viewers, the picture is less clear. Paramount+ does not currently operate in Singapore or Southeast Asia, and regional streaming rights for Seven Havens have not been announced. Previous Avatar content has found its way to Southeast Asian platforms over time — Singapore fans should watch for regional distribution news closer to launch. In the meantime, the official teaser is free to watch on the Avatar Legends YouTube channel.

Keep an eye on our anime and animation coverage as more details — regional platforms, trailer breakdowns, and character reveals — land ahead of the October premiere.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World — December 3 Launch Date and Full Details Revealed

Square Enix has locked in December 3, 2026 as the launch date for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World — the latest entry in the long-running spin-off series — alongside a detailed breakdown of battles, synthesis, and monster progression. Pre-orders are already live on the Nintendo Malaysia eShop, and Square Enix Asia’s Singapore portal has a dedicated page up for Southeast Asian fans.

Set in a withered, dying world, the game stars the two iconic heroines from Dragon Quest V: Bianca and Nera. Players take the role of a monster wrangler — the wranglers themselves don’t fight, but they direct their creatures in battle through direct commands or AI strategy. Each wrangler has a once-per-battle Wrangler’s Spirit ability: Bianca’s heals HP and boosts attack, while Nera’s restores MP and raises defence, giving the two protagonists distinct playstyle identities.

Eight Monsters, Endless Strategy — Battle System Breakdown

Parties consist of up to four active monsters plus four in reserve — eight total in your squad at any time. Each monster comes with its own spells, abilities, and traits, and you can flip between auto-strategy and direct orders mid-fight. Recruiting new creatures happens during battle: trigger a Show of Force, and defeated monsters may volunteer to join your team, with items available to raise success rates.

Monsters level up and earn Talent Points through each victory. You invest those points to teach new abilities or buff raw attributes, and personality items let you tweak a monster’s growth curve if the default doesn’t suit your build.

Synthesis — Two Parents Become One Stronger Offspring

Synthesis is where The Withered World rewards the grinders. Combine two parent monsters (both must be at least level 10) to produce an offspring that can inherit — and evolve — maxed-out parental Talents. The Plus Values system lets you pass attribute bonuses through successive synthesis, so offspring can eventually exceed their parents’ rank. Specific pairings unlock exclusive creatures you can’t recruit in the wild: confirmed examples include Stump Chump + Bad Egg = Mitey Oak and a Golem-line chain leading to Balhib. Four-monster synthesis (using grandparent chains) opens even rarer results.

Over 500 Monsters — Including Three Brand-New Designs

The roster clears 500 monsters, arranged across nine ranks (G through X) in eight family groups. Monsters come in Small or Large sizes — Large creatures occupy two party slots but hit harder and act more frequently per turn. Three brand-new monster designs were unveiled today:

  • Slime Balls (Slime family) — three flavour variants: sour plum, veggie mix, and shrimp tempura
  • Bamboo Badboy (Nature family) — lures in hungry folk disguised as a bamboo shoot, then attacks
  • Groovy Grouse (Nature family) — bobs to its own internal soundtrack

Editions, Pricing and Pre-Orders for Singapore

The game ships on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch (eShop), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Microsoft Store on December 3, 2026 — with the Steam version following on December 4. Physical editions cover Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PS5 only.

Confirmed USD pricing (Singapore store pricing to be confirmed):

  • Standard Edition — $59.99 USD
  • Digital Deluxe Edition — $94.99 USD: includes a 4-item DLC set and 48-hour early access (playable December 1)
  • Collector’s Edition — $219.99 USD (via Square Enix Online Store): adds figurines of Bianca, Nera, and Debora; flocked Slime plushies; a Slime silicone pouch; and a microfibre cleaning cloth

Pre-orders are live on the Nintendo Malaysia eShop for both Switch 2 and Switch versions. For physical pre-orders, check major games retailers closer to launch as regional listings are confirmed. More coverage as Singapore pricing is announced.

Marvel’s Wolverine SDCC Story Trailer: Sabretooth Alliance, Mr. Sinister and a Free Tōkon Suit

Insomniac Games took the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 last night and dropped the Marvel’s Wolverine story trailer — a far meatier cut than the “Ain’t No Hero” cinematic we covered last week. The new footage pulls back the curtain on Logan’s full enemy roster, confirms his voice actor for the first time, and reveals a free cross-suit for Singapore’s Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls players. September 15 on PS5 is getting very close.

The Story: Sinister Pulls the Strings, Sabretooth Rides Shotgun

The story trailer positions Mr. Sinister — hinted via an SDCC prequel Infinity Comic written by narrative director Walt Williams — as the true puppet-master behind the game’s mutant-kidnapping plot. Logan’s voiceover sets the tone early: “I’ve lived long enough. It’s all started to blur together… When that’s gone, there won’t be anything left. Except rage.” as quoted in PlayStation Blog’s SDCC recap.

The trailer also reframes Sabretooth as a reluctant partner alongside Logan rather than a straightforward villain — a dynamic that will be familiar to comics fans who know how complicated that relationship gets. Lady Deathstrike and The Hand (that army of red-hooded ninja visible in the key art) fill the role of primary cannon fodder, while Omega Red lurks in the background. The Japanese setting of Tokyo confirms one stop on Logan’s globe-spanning rescue mission through Canada, Japan and Madripoor.

Voice Cast and Composer Officially Confirmed

The “Deep Cuts: Marvel’s Wolverine” panel at SDCC introduced the creative team on stage, giving us the first official confirmation of who voices the main cast. Liam McIntyre (known internationally for Spartacus and The Flash) plays Logan, while Krizia Bajos voices Jean Grey, whose telekinetic moves feed into Logan’s Critical Strikes combat system, as revealed in earlier gameplay trailers.

Also confirmed: Emmy Award-winning composer David Fleming scores the game’s soundtrack, with music that “dynamically shifts alongside Logan’s intense journey” according to PlayStation Blog. The full soundtrack — titled Logan — releases August 28, a full two and a half weeks ahead of the game itself.

The Prequel Comic and New Official Art

Williams’ digital prequel Infinity Comic — teased at the SDCC panel — is designed to flesh out Logan’s history with Team X and the broader Sinister plot before the game launches. Insomniac paired it with a classic-style prequel comic cover illustrated in Marvel’s traditional house style, hinting at the Infinity Castle ambitions the story is shooting for.

Free Tōkon Suit for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Players

Here’s the one for Singapore fans playing the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls open beta right now: Insomniac confirmed a cross-promotion suit called the “Battle Reborn” costume, inspired by Wolverine’s in-game design in the ArcSys fighter. Any Tōkon player gets the suit free in Marvel’s Wolverine from September 1 — a full two weeks before the game even launches.

The suit has an anime-flat-shaded look that sits distinctly apart from the game’s main photorealistic aesthetic — exactly the kind of bonus that rewards players who keep up with both titles. No separate steps needed; just play Tōkon before September 1 and the costume carries over.

SG Pricing and How to Pre-Order

Marvel’s Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive launching September 15, 2026. On the Singapore PlayStation Store, the Standard Edition is listed at SGD 89.90 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at SGD 99.90. Both editions are available to pre-order now; Insomniac has not detailed what the Digital Deluxe bonus content includes beyond the game itself, so check the store listing for the latest.

Physical retail availability in Singapore has not been confirmed at the time of writing — check major game retailers and electronics chains for local disc copies closer to launch. Kusunoki’s Flunking Her High School Glow-Up Gets TV Anime

DMM Pictures announced on 23 July that Kusunoki’s Flunking Her High School Glow-Up — the popular romance manga by Mitsuki Mii — is getting a TV anime adaptation, with Passione and Hayabusa Film on animation. A teaser PV is already live on YouTube, and the timing could not be better: Volume 8 hits Japanese shelves on 28 July, just days after the announcement.

Two Reinventions, One Complicated Situation

The story centres on Keisuke Shizuki, who completely reinvented himself before starting high school — new look, new social circle, new confidence — after a rough middle school experience. His one remaining problem: he still freezes up around beautiful girls. Enter Shizuka Kusunoki, the school’s most striking student, who has pulled off an equally dramatic transformation but has no idea how to actually connect with people. She asks Keisuke for help fitting in. The two quietly bond over their shared history of reinvention, and what starts as an awkward favour slowly becomes something more.

Serialised on Pixiv Comic under Ichijinsha’s Comic Pool imprint since October 2022, the manga has gathered a solid readership over its eight volumes. The English edition from Kodansha USA is available through major online retailers, so SG readers chasing a romance manga with genuine heart and a self-improvement angle can already dig in ahead of the anime premiere.

Passione — the studio behind Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf and High School DxD Hero — is co-producing with Hayabusa Film. Midori Yui directs and handles series composition. Character designs come from Kōji Haneda, who drew the expressive, character-driven visuals for The Faraway Paladin. Composing the score is Hyadain, known for the catchy, high-energy soundtrack work on Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Yūto Uemura — familiar to fans as Fuutarou Uesugi in The Quintessential Quintuplets — takes on Keisuke Shizuki. Voicing Shizuka Kusunoki opposite him is Tomori Kusunoki, known as Shirokusa Kachi in Mix Ore. The casting is a neat touch: Tomori Kusunoki is playing a character who shares her surname, which should be a talking point among fans once the anime airs.

No premiere season or streaming platform has been confirmed yet. Watch the official anime site (Japanese) for updates, and check back on GameTrader’s anime coverage as more details land.

Kazuma Kaneko’s Tsukuyomi Hits Steam Tomorrow — SMT Artist’s Deckbuilder Goes PC

If the name Kazuma Kaneko means anything to you, ears up: the legendary visual artist behind Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Devil Summoner is bringing his own tactical deckbuilder KAZUMA KANEKO’S TSUKUYOMI to Steam on 24 July — and it supports English, making it fully accessible to Singapore players on PC from tomorrow.

A Demon-Infested Tower in Modern Tokyo

The setup is quintessentially Kaneko. In Tokyo, 20XX, a colossal megastructure called THE HASHIRA has been severed from the rest of the city by a plasma barrier. You play as Izayoi Tsukuyomi — an NCO agent of a national defence organisation — tasked with infiltrating the isolation zone, climbing a tower overrun by supernatural entities called Jinma, and uncovering the truth at the summit.

Izayoi Tsukuyomi arriving at THE HASHIRA in KAZUMA KANEKO'S TSUKUYOMI

Combat is turn-based card battling with a strict three-card hand limit: each fight deals you a fresh hand from your deck, and you spend Ability Points to play cards drawn from a roster of mythological creatures and warriors. Winning grants new Jinma Cards to expand your deck; lose, and the roguelike structure sends you back to square one — though EXP and Level carry over between runs, giving each attempt permanent value.

Colopl first released the game on Nintendo Switch on 23 April 2026. The PC version arriving tomorrow brings English, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional/Simplified Chinese text — no regional lock-out for Singapore-based Steam accounts.

Devil May Cry 5 Drops In — Dante, Nero, and Vergil as Cards

The crossover that launched alongside the Switch version carries over to PC. Dante, Nero, and Vergil from Devil May Cry 5 appear mid-story as boss encounters; defeat each one and they join your roster as powerful Jinma Cards with abilities adapted straight from DMC5 mechanics:

  • Dante — activates a Stylish Rank system: the more hits landed in a single turn, the higher your rank climbs and the stronger your hand becomes.
  • Nero — his Exceed card gains attack power by sitting in your hand at turn end, rewarding a patient hold strategy.
  • VergilConcentration stacks attack power up to ten stages each time a combo card effect chains, punishing enemies that let him build tempo.

Each character can trigger their Devil Trigger or Sin Devil Trigger under specific battle conditions, and their signature weapons — Devil Sword Sparda, Red Queen, and Yamato — appear as exclusive Divine Gear items. The crossover is included in the base game on Steam; no separate purchase needed.

What the Steam Version Adds

Tomorrow’s PC launch also brings the second DLC pack, “The Divine Artist K’s True Manifestation Set – Part Two”, releasing alongside the base game and adding new cards for combat. It is bundled in the Special Digital Deluxe Edition; the standard edition is priced at approximately USD 25.

One thing worth flagging honestly: the Steam page discloses that TSUKUYOMI utilises generative AI for its images, videos, and music. Kaneko serves as creative director and character concept lead, but the card art is AI-generated under his supervision rather than drawn in his signature hand. Singapore players who care about this should factor it in; those here for the SMT-adjacent tactics and the DMC5 collab will find the systems hard to resist either way.

Where to Find It

KAZUMA KANEKO’S TSUKUYOMI launches on Steam on 24 July 2026. The US storefront lists the title as region-restricted there, so Singapore-based accounts should see it correctly. The Nintendo Switch version is already live. For fans of JRPG and tactical game news, this is one to bookmark before tomorrow morning.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Arrives 4 September — Three Weeks Earlier Than Planned

Onimusha is coming sooner than expected. Capcom officially moved the release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword to 4 September 2026 — three weeks ahead of the original 25 September date. If you had your eye on this one, start clearing your weekend now.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword — Game Overview Trailer · via Capcom USA on YouTube

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Release Date Moved Up

Capcom made the announcement on 2 July 2026 via an official IR press release, confirming the new launch date across all platforms. The company offered no detailed explanation for the change, but an earlier release is rarely bad news for fans who’ve been waiting two decades for a new Onimusha. As we reported when the game was first revealed, this marks the franchise’s first mainline entry since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2006 — a 20-year gap.

Miyamoto Musashi vs the Genma — The Story So Far

Set in an Edo-period Kyoto overrun by demonic Genma invaders, Way of the Sword casts players as the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi — a real historical figure reimagined with an enchanted gauntlet that channels Oni power. Along the way he meets two companions, each based on real Japanese historical figures: Izumo no Okuni, famed as the founder of kabuki theatre, and Ono no Takamura, a venerable swordsman who wields a gauntlet of his own. The clash of history, myth and demon-slaying action is classic Onimusha territory.

The Onimusha series has sold over 9.1 million units cumulatively since the original PS2 launch in 2001. That fanbase runs deep in Singapore — the early PS2-era games were a staple at rental shops across Tampines, Jurong and Bugis — and Way of the Sword looks to recapture that dark, methodical sword-action feel with a modern engine.

Enemy Design: A Closer Look at the Genma

The game’s enemy design leans heavily into grotesque, winged Genma whose grotesque armour and blood-soaked blades feel like a natural evolution of the series’ original aesthetic. The Game Overview trailer released in June showcased a wide range of encounter types — from agile lesser demons to screen-filling bosses silhouetted against a blood moon.

Platforms and Singapore Availability

Onimusha: Way of the Sword releases 4 September 2026 on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Nintendo Switch 2
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store)

No Singapore-specific pricing has been confirmed yet; SGD pricing typically appears on the PSN Store and Steam closer to launch. Keep an eye on our game news feed for a pre-order and pricing update when Capcom drops more details. In the meantime, the Steam wishlist page is live.

Mbappé’s Fourth Cover — First Under the FC Name

Mbappé previously appeared on the covers of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23, all while at Paris Saint-Germain. This is his fourth overall series cover but his first under the EA Sports FC branding, and it comes on the back of one of the most watched World Cup performances in recent memory — 10 goals and the Golden Boot at the 2026 tournament. He is pictured in Real Madrid’s white kit, reflecting his move to the Spanish capital that has seen him become arguably the best player on the planet.

The Standard Edition features a different cover composition to the Ultimate Edition — and it’s not just cosmetic. EA has confirmed that the background of the Standard Edition art is actually the first look at FC The Grounds, the new open-world social hub at the centre of FC 27.

FC The Grounds: An Open World Replaces the Menu Screen

The headline new feature in FC 27 is FC The Grounds — a walkable, 3D open-world hub that replaces the traditional menu-based navigation. Instead of moving through screens to reach different game modes, players will explore a football-themed environment divided into districts inspired by famous footballing nations, with architecture drawing on cities like Paris and London.

Within The Grounds, players can access the full range of FC 27 modes, interact with other players online, take part in street football activities (similar to the returning Volta-style gameplay), try new mini-games including football tennis, and customise their avatar. Brand partnerships with Nike, Adidas, and Puma are reportedly integrated into the space as in-world shops. It is the most ambitious structural change EA has made to the series since the FIFA-to-FC rebrand.
