Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Reveals Striking Character Art at AX 2026

Crunchyroll had a packed stage at Anime Expo 2026 this weekend, but the image that’s still echoing around the convention floor came from one announcement: the first character visuals for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the 2027 anime series heading to Crunchyroll. Drawn by Takashi Okazaki — the artist and creator behind Afro Samurai — the four portraits are unlike anything else shown at the convention this year. Dark, dense, folklore-soaked, and rendered in Okazaki’s unmistakable ink-heavy style, they make a statement before a single frame of animation has screened.

Takashi Okazaki’s Designs Are the Real Story

If you know Okazaki’s work on Afro Samurai, you already have a feel for what these visuals are doing. They abandon the clean character-sheet aesthetic common to anime announcements entirely and lean into something older and more tactile — ink-black linework, parchment textures, dramatic negative space, and slashes of blood-red calligraphy bleeding across each portrait.

The group visual alone shows you the tonal distance this series is travelling from Ghost of Tsushima’s original campaign. These are not the grounded, historically textured samurai designs of Jin Sakai’s story. They are supernatural in every line — an archer wrapped in bone and shadow, a kitsune-masked figure bristling with blades, and looming behind them both, something far older and more dangerous. The aesthetic signals that Legends is taking its folklore inspirations seriously.

This Isn’t Jin Sakai’s Story — and That’s the Right Call

The anime adapts Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the free co-op mode added to the original game that diverged sharply from Jin’s solo campaign. Where the main game told a grounded story about a samurai fighting the Mongol invasion, Legends dropped players into Japanese mythology — fighting oni, navigating the spirit realm, and teaming up across four archetypes (Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin) in missions drawn from folktales.

That supernatural register gives the anime a distinct identity rather than retreading ground Jin’s story already covered. It also hands Okazaki, director Takanobu Mizuno, and writer Gen Urobuchi a canvas that suits their strengths. Urobuchi built his reputation on dark mythological drama — from Puella Magi Madoka Magica‘s deconstruction of the magical girl genre to Fate/Zero‘s brutal war of Noble Phantasms to the oppressive world of Psycho-Pass. A series rooted in supernatural horror and Japanese folklore is exactly where his storytelling lands hardest, and his involvement here is the single biggest creative signal that this won’t be a safe franchise tie-in.

The Team Behind It

The full creative lineup, confirmed by Crunchyroll:

  • Director: Takanobu Mizuno — previously directed Star Wars: Visions “The Duel” at Kamikaze Douga, which showcased the studio’s capacity for stylised, high-impact short-form animation
  • Series Composition & Script: Gen Urobuchi and Satoshi Maejima (both of Nitro Plus)
  • Character Design: Takashi Okazaki (creator of Afro Samurai)
  • Animation Studio: KAMIKAZE DOUGA (also known for Batman Ninja, Batman Ninja vs. The Yakuza League, Sand Land The Series)
  • Production: HAYATE Inc., Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, PlayStation Productions

Crunchyroll in 2027 — and What This Means for Singapore

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends the anime is set for a 2027 premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll. No specific window has been announced beyond the year, and no trailer has dropped yet — the AX 2026 reveal was character visuals only. Given the production lineup, a full teaser is likely still months away.

For Singapore’s PlayStation and anime communities, this is one to watch closely. Ghost of Tsushima was one of the biggest PlayStation exclusives to land in the region — the game’s Japanese aesthetic resonated strongly with Southeast Asian players — and the Urobuchi-Okazaki-Kamikaze Douga combination is the kind of creative pedigree that gets the anime community here genuinely excited. Urobuchi’s past work has consistently performed well in Singapore, and a series threading dark folklore through prestige PlayStation IP feels well-calibrated for this audience.

We’ll keep tracking this one as more details emerge. For the latest anime news, check our Manga & Anime section.

Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Premieres July 5 on Crunchyroll

Singapore isekai fans, this is your reminder: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 drops on Crunchyroll on 5 July 2026 — tomorrow. One of the most consistently impressive isekai anime in recent memory picks up directly where Season 2’s emotionally loaded finale left off, and from what the trailers are showing, Studio Bind has not let the momentum slip.

The Asura Kingdom Arc — From Domestic Peace to Political War

Season 3 adapts Volumes 13–18 of Rifujin na Magonote’s light novel series, covering what fans know as the Asura Kingdom Arc — the point where the story expands from personal drama into full-scale political intrigue. Rudeus Greyrat is married to both Sylphiette and Roxy Migurdia now, he’s a graduate of Ranoa Magic Academy, and for a brief, gorgeous moment it looks like his reincarnated life might actually go well. Then a visit to Perugius’s floating fortress brings a crisis that pulls the whole party apart, and the fallout leads straight into the power struggles surrounding Princess Ariel’s claim to the Asura throne.

Two new characters are introduced: Nina Farion (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu) and Gal Farion (voiced by Tetsu Inada), who play significant roles in this arc.

Eris Is Back — and She Is a Sword King

If you’ve been waiting for this since Eris walked away without explanation at the end of Season 1, Season 3 is where she returns in full. The Season 3 key visual shows Eris Boreas Greyrat as a Sword King — one of the highest combat tiers in the North God style of swordsmanship — and the close-up of her expression tells you everything about how she’s changed. She left a fiery, impulsive noble girl; she’s coming back as something forged. What happens when she and Rudeus finally face each other again is one of the most anticipated character moments in the entire novel series.

Production — Studio Bind’s Full Team Returns

Studio Bind is back with the full crew: director Ryosuke Shibuya, character designers Sanae Shimada and Ryota Furukawa, and composer Yoshiaki Fujisawa on the score. Yuiko Ohara, who has performed key songs throughout the franchise, performs the Season 3 opening theme Ketsui no Uta. The continuity of staff is one of the reasons Mushoku Tensei has maintained such a consistent visual and tonal identity across its seasons — no major shake-ups here.

Watch on Crunchyroll from 5 July — Singapore

Crunchyroll holds global simulcast rights for Season 3, which means Singapore viewers get new episodes alongside the Japanese broadcast each week from 5 July 2026. Subtitled episodes arrive first; an English dub will follow in the coming weeks.

If you haven’t started the series yet, both Season 1 and Season 2 are available on Crunchyroll now. It’s one of the few isekai titles that genuinely earns its long runtime — the craft behind each arc gets richer the longer you stay in. Find more summer season picks in our anime coverage.

MASHLE Season 3 Premieres January 2027 — AX Trailer Confirms Final Exam Arc

Mash Burnedead has one more impossible obstacle to clear — MASHLE: Magic and Muscles Season 3 is premiering in January 2027, confirmed at Anime Expo 2026 on 2 July alongside the series’ first official teaser trailer, now live on the official Aniplex YouTube channel.

MASHLE: Magic and Muscles Season 3 First Teaser Trailer — via アニプレックス チャンネル on YouTube (Japanese)

MASHLE Season 3: What the Tri-Magic-Athalon Arc Is

The full title is MASHLE: Magic and Muscles — Tri-Magic-Athalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc. If you have been keeping up with the manga, you know exactly how high the stakes climb here. The Tri-Magic-Athalon is a three-versus-three magical duel tournament that serves as the final selection process for the next Divine Visionaries — the most powerful mages in the land. It is, in other words, exactly the kind of nonsensically dangerous high-stakes event that Mash approaches with the same blank calm he uses to eat cream puffs.

Season 3 also formally introduces Domina Blowelive, a new antagonist who gets her own character visual in the teaser — and who looks designed to make Mash’s deadpan expression look even more deadpan by contrast.

Production: Same Core Team, One New Name

Director Tomoya Tanaka returns to A-1 Pictures alongside series composer Yōsuke Kuroda and music composer Masaru Yokoyama — so the production continuity that kept Seasons 1 and 2 looking and sounding consistent carries over. The one personnel change is the character designer: Chiaki Furuzumi — who served as sub-character designer on both seasons of Solo Leveling — steps in to replace Hisashi Higashijima. Judging by the teaser, the visual identity stays close to what fans know, but the full promotional run will be the real test.

The full returning voice cast is confirmed: Chiaki Kobayashi as Mash Burnedead, Kaito Ishikawa as Lance Crown, Takuya Eguchi as Dot Barrett, Reiji Kawashima as Finn Ames, Reina Ueda as Lemon Irvine, and Yuki Kaji as Rayne Ames.

How to Watch MASHLE Season 3 in Singapore

Crunchyroll streamed both previous seasons in Singapore and across Southeast Asia, and Season 3 will follow the same route. Both Seasons 1 and 2 are available on Crunchyroll now if you need a re-run before January. An exact premiere date and simulcast schedule will be confirmed closer to broadcast.

MASHLE’s source manga — originally serialised in Weekly Shōnen Jump and concluded in 2023 — is also available digitally if you cannot wait to find out how the tournament resolves.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Dear Destiny — The English Novel Arrives January 2027

Square Enix has confirmed an English-language edition of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Dear Destiny, the prose novel set in the world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The book is listed for release in January 2027 at a price of US$26.99, with pre-orders already open through major retailers.

What Is Dear Destiny?

Dear Destiny is a companion novel to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, expanding on the events and characters of the game through prose fiction. The Japanese edition was published by Square Enix in 2025, and the English edition — translated for a global audience — is now confirmed for a Western release.

The novel gives readers a deeper look at the story that Rebirth begins to tell, including the perspectives of characters beyond Cloud’s immediate point of view. For fans who finished the game wanting more time in that world, Dear Destiny is the most direct continuation available in prose form.

Tifa, Aerith, and the Cast of Rebirth

The novel draws on the full cast of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, with Tifa and Aerith among the characters given extended focus — fitting, given how central their relationship and individual journeys are to the game’s emotional core. The prose format allows the story to breathe in ways that a game’s pacing cannot always allow.

Price, Release Date, and Availability

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Dear Destiny is priced at US$26.99 and scheduled for release in January 2027. Pre-orders are available now through major book retailers. There is no confirmed Singapore retail distribution at this time — readers in the region may need to order internationally or through digital storefronts if an e-book edition becomes available.

DOOM: The Dark Ages — Revelations DLC Drops 7 July With a 10-Hour New Campaign

Hell freezes over — literally. DOOM: The Dark Ages — Revelations, the first major expansion for id Software’s critically acclaimed 2025 shooter, launches on 7 July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The DLC packs roughly 10 to 12 hours of new campaign content, a brand-new weapon that reshapes how combat flows, and a frozen layer of Hell unlike anything in the base game.

A Betrayal That Sends the Slayer Into Purgatory

Revelations kicks off in the aftermath of a betrayal, thrusting the Doom Slayer into a purgatory of his own making — a frozen, hellish realm carved into six distinct levels: Proving Grounds, Purgatory (the hub), Hell’s Core, Chasm of Xal’Goroth, Osseus, and Uprising. The narrative fills timeline gaps between the classic Doom games and the 2016 reboot, exploring fragments of the Slayer’s past on Earth through playable story segments. The composition is roughly 60% new campaign and 40% endgame — Master Arenas and secrets that unlock only after finishing the story.

The Chain Spear — More Than Just a New Weapon

The centrepiece of Revelations is the Chain Spear, and calling it a weapon undersells it. id Software describes it as an entirely new combat system. It slots in where the Shield Saw used to be and brings a skill tree of its own — Stab, Slash, Slam, Throw, and Orbit — plus grappling hook mechanics that open up mobility options the base game never had. Mastering the Chain Spear is the Revelations expansion’s core loop: the weapon grows more powerful as players unlock its abilities throughout the campaign, rewarding thorough exploration rather than beelining through missions.

Classic Demons Return, Plus New Hellspawn

Fans who’ve been waiting to see the Archvile and Pain Elemental in the Dark Ages engine finally get their wish — both classic demons are back in Revelations, rebuilt with modern materials and effects. Joining them are new elite variants designed specifically for the expansion’s environments, including enemies built around the Chain Spear’s counter-and-punish mechanics. The free Ripatorium 3.0 update, rolling out to all players on 7 July regardless of whether they own the DLC, adds deeper character customisation, preset sharing, and a reworked encounter-creation suite — so even if you skip Revelations, there’s something new waiting for you.

How to Get Revelations in Singapore

Revelations is priced at USD $19.99 as a standalone purchase (roughly S$27 at current exchange rates — check the PlayStation Store Singapore and Steam Singapore storefronts for exact local pricing). If you own or upgrade to the Premium Edition (USD $34.99 upgrade), Revelations is included at no extra charge, along with the Divinity skin pack, digital art book, and soundtrack. The expansion is also available at no additional cost to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. It launches simultaneously across all platforms on 7 July. Brave Frontier Origins: Alim Announces 2027 Mobile RPG on Its 13th Birthday

Thirteen years to the day since the original Brave Frontier launched, developer Alim Co., Ltd. has officially announced Brave Frontier Origins — a new dot-art mobile RPG for iOS and Android, targeting a 2027 release in Japan and with an English version confirmed.

Alim Drops the Reveal on the Exact 13th Anniversary

The announcement arrived on 4Gamer.net (Japanese) today alongside the launch of an official teaser site at bravefrontier.jp/origin. The timing is unmistakably deliberate: Brave Frontier first launched in Japan on July 3, 2013. Today is its 13th birthday.

Alim’s framing is equally pointed. The Japanese announcement describes the project’s theme as 「原点回帰」 — literally returning to roots — and promises that Origins will inherit the soul of the original while adopting a back-to-basics approach. The original Brave Frontier franchise reached over 38 million downloads across its lifetime, a figure Alim leads with prominently on the teaser site.

Pixel Art, Brave Bursts, and Familiar Foundations

On gameplay, details are limited — this is a teaser launch, not a full reveal. What Alim has confirmed: Origins will use a pixel-art visual style and bring back the flick-based Brave Burst system that defined the original’s combat. That system — where swiping a spirit card charged and released your units’ most powerful attacks — was the heartbeat of what made the original Brave Frontier tactile in a way most mobile RPGs of its era never managed.

No gameplay footage accompanies the announcement. The teaser site is intentionally minimal, and Alim has not yet confirmed story details, character names, or monetisation model.

The Question Every Southeast Asia Player Is Already Asking

For a Singaporean or regional player, Brave Frontier was not just another Japanese mobile RPG export — it was the one that treated Southeast Asia as a real market early. Alim was among the first Japanese studios to build dedicated SEA infrastructure, and the game found deep communities in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines before that was an industry standard. Guild rosters, Otomo Arena rankings, and the game’s social layer gave SG mobile gamers a shared vocabulary before the genre had one in English.

When the Global and Japan servers both shut down in 2022, the fanbase grieved loudly on Reddit and Discord. The announcement of Origins will land with genuine emotional weight here — but it immediately raises the question the teaser site does not yet answer: will there be Southeast Asian server support?

Alim has confirmed Japan and an English version. Given the original game’s complicated history — split Global and Japan servers that ran separately and eventually closed — the shape of Origins’ regional rollout will matter enormously to the SEA fanbase. Nothing is confirmed on that front yet, and it is the thing worth watching as more details emerge.

What Is Confirmed So Far

  • Platforms: iOS and Android
  • Release window: 2027
  • Versions confirmed: Japan and English
  • Visual style: Pixel art
  • Combat: Brave Burst flick system, returning
  • Developer: Alim Co., Ltd. — the original Brave Frontier studio, also known for Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
  • Franchise total downloads: 38 million+

More details are expected as 2027 approaches. The official teaser site is live now at bravefrontier.jp/origin. For more on upcoming mobile and console releases for Singapore gamers, see our Game News section.

Bananya Turns 10 With New Mobile Game and Anime Special

Crunchyroll and TMS Entertainment are marking Bananya’s 10th anniversary this July with two brand-new releases: Bananya Buddies, the first original game on Crunchyroll Game Vault, and a 10th anniversary anime special that premieres at Anime Expo on 4 July before streaming worldwide on Crunchyroll from 9 July. Pre-registration for Bananya Buddies on Google Play is live right now — here’s everything Singapore fans need to know.

Bananya Buddies — Collect Cats, Decorate Your Hangout Pad

Developed by Crunchyroll Games, TMS Entertainment, and independent studio The MIX, Bananya Buddies is a cozy mobile cat-collecting game launching exclusively on Crunchyroll Game Vault this summer. The premise is simple and delightful: welcome Bananya visitors to your pad, play mini-games to earn coins, and leave out toys and treats to rack up Buddy Points with each little banana-dwelling cat.

The more Buddy Points a Bananya accumulates, the longer it sticks around — and the better the gifts it leaves behind. Reach Best Buddies status and you unlock a sleepover; hit Best Buddies Forever and something even more special awaits (you’ll have to play to find out). It’s the kind of low-key, pick-up-and-put-down mobile experience that cozy game fans have been waiting for from an anime IP this charming.

  • Platform: Crunchyroll Game Vault (exclusive) — available on Crunchyroll Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan tiers
  • Launch window: Summer 2026
  • Pre-registration: Google Play now open; App Store coming soon
  • Languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Latin America and Spain)

Bananya Buddies joins nearly 100 titles already in the Game Vault, and as the first original game produced for the platform it marks a meaningful step forward for Crunchyroll’s gaming ambitions.

The first Bananya episode aired on 4 July 2016. Exactly ten years later — on 4 July 2026 at 10AM — the Bananya 10th Anniversary anime special will world-premiere at Anime Expo before landing on Crunchyroll on 9 July.

The official synopsis drops the Bananyas into an adventure: the player character wakes to find they’ve somehow become a Bananya themselves, then sets off through forest, mountain, and open land in search of missing treasures. It’s a fresh story that expands the lore while keeping the dreamy, low-stakes tone that made the original shorts such a cult favourite.

The special features an all-star Japanese voice cast:

  • Stray Bananya — Atsumi Tanezaki (Anya Forger in SPY x FAMILY)
  • Little Bananya — Yuina Ito (Zundamon)
  • Tall Bananya — Toshiyuki Morikawa (Minato Namikaze in NARUTO)

The commemorative theme song is “nyanderful nyanderland” performed by TAMAchan, with Bananya’s character voice by Yuki Kaji.

Crunchyroll is available in Singapore, and existing subscribers can catch all three current Bananya series — Bananya, Bananya and the Curious Bunch, and Bananya Around the World — right now while waiting for the anniversary special to drop on 9 July.

Bananya Buddies requires a Crunchyroll Mega Fan or Ultimate Fan membership to access via Game Vault. If you’re already on either tier, the game drops into your library at no extra cost when it launches this summer. Not yet subscribed? You can sign up or upgrade on Crunchyroll’s website.

Further 10th anniversary announcements — including merchandise, events, and other celebratory projects — will roll out through the rest of the year via the official TMS Entertainment and Bananya channels on X, Facebook, and Instagram.

Ghost in the Shell 2026 Anime Premieres 7 July on Prime Video — Science SARU Takes the Helm

One of anime’s most legendary franchises gets a fresh start this week: 攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL premieres on 7 July 2026 on Fuji TV in Japan — and simultaneously on Amazon Prime Video in Singapore and more than 240 countries worldwide. Science SARU, the studio behind Dandadan and Inu-Oh, is taking the helm. The Summer 2026 season has not been short on big premieres, but this is the one that has the broadest conversation going.

Why This Ghost in the Shell Is Different

Ghost in the Shell 2026 Motoko Kusanagi official poster art
Image courtesy of Science SARU / Bandai Namco Filmworks

Every previous Ghost in the Shell anime adaptation has lived in the shadow of Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 film — the muted palette, the slow philosophical pacing, the rain-soaked existentialism that influenced a generation of filmmakers from the Wachowskis to James Cameron. Science SARU is not making that series. Director Mokochan and character designer Shuhei Handa have explicitly returned to Masamune Shirow’s original 1989–91 manga aesthetic — brighter, more kinetic, with Major Motoko Kusanagi rendered closer to Shirow’s own drawings than the Oshii film version most international audiences know.

The script is by EnJoe Toh (円城塔), an award-winning hard science-fiction novelist — not a veteran anime scriptwriter. That left-field choice signals a production pushing for genuine sci-fi prose rather than standard procedural anime plotting. The story follows Kusanagi and the combat unit she leads at Section 9 against a hacker known as the Puppet Master, across a near-future city where cyberbrain technology has reshaped crime, identity, and humanity.

Science SARU: The Right Studio at the Right Moment

Image courtesy of Science SARU / Bandai Namco Filmworks

Science SARU was co-founded by Masaaki Yuasa, and while Yuasa is not directing here, the studio’s commitment to handcrafted, design-led animation is well established. Their work on Dandadan — which delivered one of the most visually inventive anime seasons in years — proved they can handle high-energy, action-forward material without losing aesthetic integrity. Ghost in the Shell demands both technical precision and a strong visual identity; Science SARU has demonstrated it can deliver both.

At the world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on 22 June 2026, director Mokochan explicitly stated that zero generative AI was used in production. That commitment, made publicly at the industry’s largest animation gathering, has been a widely noted talking point since — and in an anime industry where AI-in-production debates are intensifying, it positions this series clearly.

Music is from Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka. The ending theme — titled “Blue” — is performed by Millennium Parade featuring Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar. That combination of Japanese art-pop production and international collaborators should pull listeners well outside the usual anime-music audience.

Watch It in Singapore From Day One

Prime Video is available in Singapore, and the series launches globally on 7 July — meaning Singapore fans can watch the same day as the Japanese broadcast, no waiting, no searching for streams. Just log into your Prime Video account. The series is available in over 240 countries and territories, with the only notable exceptions being China, Russia, and Vietnam.

This is also the first Ghost in the Shell anime title produced outside Production I.G., which had held the anime rights for more than thirty years — from the 1995 Oshii film through the Stand Alone Complex TV series and beyond. Science SARU stepping in is a genuine creative handoff. Notably, Bandai Namco Filmworks, Kodansha, and Production I.G. itself are all in the production committee, confirming this is a franchise succession rather than a licensing side project.

Whether you are a long-time fan of the franchise who remembers Section 9 from Stand Alone Complex, or someone who has only encountered the Ghost in the Shell name by reputation, 7 July is the date. Same day as Japan. Prime Video. For Singapore, there is no easier on-ramp to one of the most anticipated anime of 2026.

Strange: Junji Ito’s Live-Action Horror Series Premieres Tonight With IVE’s ‘Jigsaw’

Thirteen of Junji Ito’s most unsettling horror manga stories are getting the live-action treatment tonight, as Strange — Junji Ito’s Strange Stories for Sleepless Nights premieres on TV Tokyo’s “Drama 24” block. Produced by Global Stage Hollywood and TV Tokyo, it is the first major anthology series built specifically around Ito’s short-horror catalogue — and it’s opening with a K-pop twist Singapore fans will recognise immediately.

Thirteen Manga Stories, One Anthology

Strange adapts thirteen of Ito’s short horror manga across its run. Confirmed titles include Lovesickness, The Mansion of Phantom Pain, The Rib Woman, The Bully, Face Thief, A Father’s Love, Memory, In Old Records, Penpal, Further Tales of Oshikiri, Earthbound, and Tomio: Red Turtleneck — each adapted as its own self-contained episode with a new cast. The format suits Ito’s output perfectly: short stories built for maximum dread per page, no need for continuity across episodes.

Three directors share duties across the series — Atsuhiro Yamada, Yūta Shimotsu, and Ryōta Kondō — with scripts by Daisuke Hosaka (Sadako 3D 2) and Tatsurō Inamoto (Trigun Stampede, Pluto). The cast includes Nijirō Murakami in the premiere episode The Mansion of Phantom Pain, Kanata Hosoda across the multi-part Lovesickness (spanning episodes 2, 8 and 10), Yōko Maki in The Bully, and Wan Marui in Earthbound. An episode-order reshuffle announced on 28 June means the TV broadcast sequence now differs slightly from the original line-up.

IVE’s ‘Jigsaw’ and 10cm’s Ending Theme

The opening theme is “Jigsaw” by IVE — the K-pop group behind “After LIKE”, “I AM” and “Baddie”, and one of the most-streamed acts across Singapore right now. Pairing a K-pop vocal act with J-horror body-dread imagery is an unexpected call, but it tracks with the series’ co-production ambitions: this is clearly aimed at audiences beyond Japan’s domestic drama viewers. The ending theme, “The Darkest Night”, is by 10cm (Kwon Jeong-yeol), the South Korean singer-songwriter, bringing a quieter, more melancholic close to each episode.

World Premiere at Anime Expo 2026 — Tonight in LA

Before the TV broadcast airs in Japan, Strange gets its world premiere at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles — the international premiere of Episode 1 and the world premiere of Episode 2, screening tonight (3 July) at 6:45 PM PDT at the 411 Theatre. The AX panel brings together Douglas Montgomery (Executive Producer, Global Stage Hollywood), Mayu Nobe (Producer, TV Tokyo), Kwok-Wai Hanson (CEO, Anime Trending), and director Rei. The fact that the series world-premieres in LA before its Japan TV slot signals a deliberate push for international attention rather than the usual “Japan first, rest of world eventually” model.

No Singapore Stream Confirmed Yet

For Singapore fans: no streaming deal for the region has been announced. The TV Tokyo broadcast airs tonight (3 July) at 11:12 PM SGT, with a second airing on BS TV Tokyo on 12 July. Given IVE’s involvement as opening theme artists, the US co-production structure, and the AX world premiere, an international streaming announcement feels like a matter of when, not if — but nothing is confirmed as of now. Keep an eye on our manga and anime coverage for any streaming updates as they drop. In the meantime, the official trailer above is the best taste of what’s coming.
