Ghost in the Shell Gets New Image Song “po-ai” — Out Now

Science SARU’s The Ghost in the Shell anime is in its final stretch — and today, 24 August 2026, the series adds a new chapter to its music story. The image song “po-ai feat. Mirai Moriyama” has been released as a digital single, accompanied by a special promotion video directed by series director MOKOCHAN. Singapore fans can catch it on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music from 9 September 2026.

The track was composed, arranged, and written by Taisei Iwasaki, who serves as the series’ music director and main composer throughout the run. Vocals are provided by Mirai Moriyama, a Kobe-born dancer and stage actor with an unconventional presence that feels right for this franchise’s cerebral, body-questioning world.

“po-ai” isn’t a surprise addition: it already served as the ending theme for the full-length feature footage shown at advance screenings overseas, including the series’ world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France earlier this year. For Singapore fans who may have caught clips or reactions from Annecy, this is the track that played out those screenings.

The promo video was directed by MOKOCHAN, who also helms the series itself. The clip accompanies the official digital release of the single, giving the song a visual dimension beyond its earlier screenings-only debut.

The Anime Enters Its Final Stretch

Science SARU’s The Ghost in the Shell is currently airing in Japan on Kansai TV and Fuji TV as part of the Ka-Anival!! programming block, and the series is now in its final episodes. For Singapore fans, the anime has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video with Singapore availability confirmed from its July 7 launch — which means you can binge the back catalogue right now ahead of the ending stretch.

Taisei Iwasaki’s score has been a throughline across the entire run, so “po-ai” arrives as both a farewell note and an invitation to listen back to how the music shaped this particular iteration of Major Kusanagi’s story. The full Ghost in the Shell soundtrack collection is also available if you want to go deeper into the series’ musical world.
