Hunter’s Moon: PS5 Folk Horror Exclusive Launches 26 October

PlayStation’s September State of Play delivered a surprise for PS5 owners in Singapore: Hunter’s Moon, a first-person historical folk horror game from indie studio Twin Swans, launches 26 October 2026 exclusively on PS5 — the same day as the UK and Europe.

One Night in 1644 England

Set entirely across a single night in 17th-century rural England, the game puts you in the boots of Lilith Thorne — a woman accused of witchcraft and hunted through forests, moors, and a darkened village by three pursuers: a self-styled Witchfinder General, a village magistrate, and a local huntsman. The historical backdrop is real: Twin Swans drew on Matthew Hopkins’ 1644 witch-hunting campaigns and his 1647 publication The Discovery of Witches.

The game is first-person — a rarity in the folk horror genre — and its entire story unfolds in one unbroken night, which makes every decision feel heightened. There is no morning to outlast.

Listen at the Window, Live Another Hour

The standout mechanic is what Twin Swans calls an immersive-theatre-inspired eavesdropping system. Press against a window or door and Lilith listens in on the village going about its night — and over 100 fully voiced characters carry information that could keep her alive: warnings, folk remedies, the whereabouts of sacred items, songs that might soften a pursuer’s resolve. Knowledge is your only armour.

Twin Swans is a new studio, but its creative leads come with substantial indie pedigree. Writer-director Alicia Contestabile and co-founder William Pugh both worked on The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Composer Jessica Curry — whose score for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture won a BAFTA — is also on the project, alongside team members whose credits span The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, The Witcher 3, and Signalis.

“We are thrilled to finally announce Hunter’s Moon — a first-person historical narrative folk-horror game coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 on October 26,” Contestabile wrote on the PlayStation Blog.

The concept traces back to 2019, when Contestabile first developed it as a screenplay while at Crows Crows Crows, before founding Twin Swans to make it a reality.

PS5 Only — What Singapore Players Should Know

Hunter’s Moon is a PS5 exclusive with no PC, Switch 2, or Xbox version announced. Singapore sits in the Asia launch window: 26 October 2026, one day after North America (25 October). Pricing on the Singapore PlayStation Store has not yet been confirmed. Wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store.

Konami Unveils Rev. NOiR and Rhapsody in Scarlet for 2027

Konami came to PlayStation’s State of Play on 3 September 2026 with not one but two original RPGs — both targeting a 2027 launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Rev. NOiR got a moody new story trailer expanding on its JRPG bones, while Rhapsody in Scarlet burst onto the scene as a completely fresh reveal, trading swords and sorcery for jazz clubs and jazz-age monsters. Two very different games, one clear message: the studio best known for Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Metal Gear is back as a creator of new worlds.

Rev. NOiR: A JRPG About Fate, Amnesia, and the End of the World

Rev. NOiR was first teased at an earlier State of Play in February 2026. The September showcase gave it a proper story trailer, confirming platforms and fleshing out a premise that had kept fans guessing for months. The game follows a young boy named Asch — amnesiac and alone — who is rescued by a girl named Finé. Together they set out across a world gripped by the lightfall, a catastrophic natural phenomenon that kills everything it touches. The tagline, drawn directly from Konami’s own announcement, says it plainly: “Unravel the mandate of heaven, and weave together the threads of hope.”

What makes this feel genuinely promising for JRPG fans is who is building it. Producer Nobuki Kadoi spent years at Square Enix, where he worked on Lord of Vermillion and Gunslinger Stratos before moving to Konami. In interviews noted by RPG Site, Kadoi has said the team is focused on placing the core elements that define a JRPG — comrades, growth, and heartfelt moments — at the very centre of the design. The combat blends real-time action with JRPG menu mechanics; early glimpses show grotesque creature designs alongside nimble human boss fights.

Rev. NOiR launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. No specific date has been given; Konami has indicated further reveals are coming. You can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store and Steam.

Rhapsody in Scarlet: Jazz and Dark Magic in 1920s New York

If Rev. NOiR is a slow burn, Rhapsody in Scarlet is a full-on spectacle from frame one. The brand-new reveal plunges players into the neon-lit, jazz-soaked streets of 1920s New York — Prohibition-era speakeasies, art-deco facades, and a city crawling with something far darker than bootleggers. The protagonist is Ellie Myers (voiced in English by Cherami Leigh), a young magus who moonlights as a jazz singer and fights alongside a stable of summoned beasts — among them Sköll, Balhut, and Thunderbird — unleashing screen-spanning combo attacks in flashy real-time battles. She is joined by Ilya Jones (voiced by Hannah Grace), head of an underground organisation called the Seekers, as confirmed by Final Weapon.

Combat chains melee, ranged, and area-effect magic together into escalating combos, with the beast companions acting as both support and spectacle. The visual direction leans heavily into the period — authentically recreated skyscrapers, vintage marquee lights, and Prohibition-era speakeasies double as narrative hubs. Built in Unreal Engine, the game already looks a cut above a typical genre reveal.

Rhapsody in Scarlet is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027. Konami has confirmed that a Japan-segment State of Play will deliver deeper details on the game, and Tokyo Game Show 2026 (17–21 September, Makuhari Messe) is the next major venue to watch for both titles. Visit the official Rhapsody in Scarlet website for updates.

Two Bets Konami Is Willing to Stand Behind

For Singapore PS5 players, both titles are worth keeping on the radar. The platform split — PS5, Xbox Series, and PC — means no console exclusivity headaches, and a 2027 window gives Konami room to show more at TGS and beyond before a purchase decision is needed. The rest of the GameTrader game news feed will catch every reveal as it drops.

Between Rev. NOiR’s JRPG pedigree — a Square Enix veteran leading the charge, a story built around fate and heartfelt bonds — and Rhapsody in Scarlet’s genuinely unusual premise, Konami is making the kind of swings that fans have wanted from the studio for years. Neither game has a firm release date yet, but between two State of Play slots and TGS lined up, answers are coming soon.

Final Fantasy Resonance Demo Live Now — Sephiroth Revealed as Hidden Boss

Singapore PS5 owners, download now: Square Enix launched the Final Fantasy Resonance free demo today during PlayStation’s September State of Play, and it includes the entire first chapter of the game — save data carries straight into the full release on October 22, 2026. On top of that, the studio dropped the biggest character reveal yet: Sephiroth appears in Resonance as a special hidden boss encounter.

What the Demo Contains

The demo covers the full opening chapter of Resonance, giving players a proper taste of the evolved turn-based battle system and the Vision equip system. Square Enix confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that the demo save file transfers to the full game — so any progress you make right now carries over when you buy in October.

We have been tracking this one closely since the initial reveal: last month’s update added Jake, Sakura, and the Sworn Six to the roster. Now Square Enix is putting a playable slice in players’ hands six weeks out from the October 22 launch across PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Sephiroth as a Special Challenge Encounter

Sephiroth joins Resonance as a special hidden encounter — players who find and defeat him earn a special reward, though the studio has not yet disclosed what it is. Seeing the One-Winged Angel rendered in Resonance’s cinematic HD-2D pixel art style is already a treat, and his presence deepens the Legacy Heroes system that lets players draw on figures across franchise history.

He marks the third iconic Final Fantasy villain confirmed for the game, and for fans who grew up with the original FF7, his appearance in a game explicitly asking “what if Final Fantasy kept pushing pixel art?” hits differently.

How the Vision and Stagger Systems Work

Resonance uses a timeline-based turn order — displayed at the top of the screen — so you can always see when each character and enemy acts. Exploiting elemental weaknesses and chaining attacks builds a Stagger gauge; land enough hits and the enemy enters a staggered state that amplifies all incoming damage significantly.

The Vision system, as Mel Gordon, Senior Marketing Manager at Square Enix, described on the PlayStation Blog, lets players equip crystallised character essences to unlock abilities. Multiple Visions slot simultaneously within a cost limit, creating “powerful synergies.” It is an accessible but layered take on the classic job system.

The PS5 demo is live now — search “Final Fantasy Resonance” on the PS Store Singapore and download it for free. The full game launches October 22, 2026 globally. Switch and Switch 2 demo availability is to be confirmed. SGD pricing for the full game has not yet appeared on the Singapore storefront; we will update when it does.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Launches April 8, 2027 — Full Party Revealed

The wait is over. Square Enix dropped the release date for Final Fantasy VII Revelation at the PlayStation State of Play on September 3, 2026: the trilogy finale arrives on April 8, 2027, landing simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam — a multi-platform day one that marks a departure from the timed PlayStation exclusivity the first two games carried.

All Seven Party Members — Plus Vincent and Cid

The new State of Play trailer opened with a sweep across the full roster: the Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind we saw at Gamescom join Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, Yuffie, Nanaki/Red XIII, and Cait Sith as fully playable characters for the first time in the trilogy. Vincent brings “lightning-fast gunplay and ferocious, bestial transformations”, while Cid uses his signature lance with both single-target and area-of-effect attacks.

For Singapore fans who have been with the remake trilogy since Final Fantasy VII Remake launched in 2020, seeing the complete cast assembled and playable is the franchise moment we have been building toward for years.

The Highwind Is Yours — Fly the Entire Planet

The headline gameplay reveal: the iconic Highwind airship is available early in the game, giving players free rein over the entire planet from the outset. You can drop in via parachute anywhere on the map, transitioning seamlessly from air to land. It is the most ambitious open-world implementation the trilogy has attempted — a genuine step up from Rebirth’s region-based structure.

Wutai, Gongaga, and the FITS Job System

The trailer confirmed Wutai — the warrior nation that classic FF7 fans know well — rendered in detail, with Yuffie’s grappling hook used to traverse its rooftops and cliffs. Gongaga returns too, with new story content centering on Cissnei. Mini-games include a cat-spotting side quest, and Red XIII gets his own Queen’s Blood card game narrative sidequest thread.

Combat introduces the FITS system (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear): characters equip special outfits that overhaul their moveset and evoke classic Final Fantasy jobs — Black Mage, Warrior, and more. It is a fresh layer on top of the action-ATB hybrid, keeping builds meaningful without retreading the same materia ground.

April 8, 2027 — When Singapore Gets to Finish the Story

April 8, 2027 falls on a Thursday, which means most Singapore players will be able to hit the PS Store at midnight SGT on April 9 for the digital release. No SGD pricing has been confirmed yet; pre-orders are open globally but local storefront listings are to be confirmed. We will update when PS Store Singapore prices go live.

For more on what Square Enix has in store at upcoming showcases and events, stay tuned — TGS 2026 runs September 17 to 21 and Revelation is confirmed to appear there.

State of Play September 3 — Two Shows, 9pm SGT, FF7 Revelation Headlining

Two PlayStation showcases are streaming back-to-back this Thursday, 3 September — and Singapore viewers can catch both live at 9pm SGT without setting an alarm.

What’s On: State of Play Main Show

The first broadcast is the global State of Play, promising “updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners.” Sony has confirmed one segment outright: an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Square Enix’s third entry in the FFVII remake series, still targeting a spring 2027 release across PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.

Beyond that confirmed segment, Sony has kept the full lineup under wraps. The show streams in English with Japanese subtitles available.

State of Play Japan — The Asia-Focused Showcase

Immediately after the main show, State of Play Japan takes over, hosted once again by voice actor Yuki Kaji. The segment promises “deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more,” and runs in Japanese with English subtitles.

For Singapore gamers, this is arguably the more interesting window. Japan-adjacent titles — smaller-budget JRPGs, visual novels, action games from mid-tier publishers — rarely get the spotlight in the English-language State of Play, but frequently land on PlayStation and are widely available in Singapore. The Japan broadcast is where that pipeline tends to surface.

How to Watch from Singapore

Both shows stream live at 9pm SGT on Thursday, 3 September via the PlayStation YouTube channel and the PlayStation Twitch channel. No account is needed to watch live on YouTube. The shows run sequentially — the main State of Play first, then State of Play Japan immediately after — so budget time for both if you want the complete picture.

FF7 Revelation: Where It Stands Heading In

Final Fantasy VII Revelation has been shown extensively this year — from the Vincent and Cid reveal at Gamescom to the FITS combat system breakdown — but Thursday’s segment is described as an “extended look at the vast world,” which suggests an open-world or exploration showcase rather than another combat trailer. We’ve followed every reveal including the Gamescom deep dive, and the game is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of early 2027 for PS5 owners in Singapore. Stay tuned after Thursday’s show for our breakdown. Find more game news here.

Phantom Blade Zero State of Play — Donnie Yen Revealed

Two pieces of confirmed news make the upcoming Phantom Blade Zero State of Play worth blocking your Tuesday calendar for: action icon Donnie Yen is officially in the game as a central character, and the dedicated PlayStation broadcast lands this Tuesday 18 August at 10am SGT.

Neither detail appeared in our coverage of the pre-order launch and 11-minute trailer — both were confirmed by S-GAME and Sony on 11–12 August via the PlayStation Blog.

Phantom Blade Zero – State of Play Gameplay Deep Dive | PS5 Games — via PlayStation on YouTube

Donnie Yen Is Mó Yuan — Voice, Face, and Motion Capture

Hong Kong martial arts icon Donnie Yen — known across Singapore and Southeast Asia for the Ip Man series, John Wick 4, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — has been contributing to Phantom Blade Zero as a creative consultant since 2023. S-GAME has now confirmed he goes further than that: Yen provides the voice, facial model, and full motion capture performance for Mó Yuan, a commanding elder figure who looms at the centre of protagonist Soul’s story.

The pre-order trailer offered the first clear look at Mó Yuan — a dark-robed patriarch carrying a glowing infant in one hand and an ornate sword in the other, carrying Donnie Yen’s features directly from face scan. His involvement makes particular sense for Singapore and the region: Yen has defined Hong Kong action cinema for two decades, and Phantom Blade Zero’s dark wuxia setting is precisely that genre transplanted into a PS5 action RPG. Having him shape the physical performance of a central character, not just advise on fight choreography, adds a layer of authenticity that’s rare in gaming.

What the State of Play Will Show

The broadcast promises nearly 20 minutes of new gameplay, covering two areas the 11-minute pre-order showcase only teased: story characters we haven’t seen yet, and the breadth of build expression the game supports. S-GAME has previously described a deep weapon and skill customisation system; this State of Play should be the first time it’s explained in meaningful detail — Sony’s own words are “just how expressive players can be with their individual builds.”

The game follows Soul, an elite operative framed for the murder of The Order’s patriarch and left with 66 days to live. The existing trailer has already shown open-environment traversal, large boss encounters, and close-quarters combat with a visual intensity that draws comparisons to animated Hong Kong action. The State of Play should expand all of that considerably.

When and Where to Watch in Singapore

The Phantom Blade Zero State of Play airs at:

  • Monday, 17 August at 7:00pm PT / 10:00pm ET (US)
  • Tuesday, 18 August at 10:00am SGT / HKT (Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong)
  • Tuesday, 18 August at 11:00am JST (Japan)

Watch live on the official PlayStation YouTube channel or PlayStation Twitch. Tuesday at 10am is a comfortable morning watch — and with Phantom Blade Zero launching on 29 October, this is likely the last major reveal before pre-release hands-on coverage begins ahead of reviews.

Pre-Orders and Release

Phantom Blade Zero launches on 29 October 2026 on PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). Pre-orders are live now on the PlayStation Store Singapore, Steam, and Epic — early purchase unlocks the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit, both also earnable through normal progression. Check the Singapore storefront directly for confirmed SGD pricing.

PlayStation State of Play June 2026: God of War Laufey, Wolverine & the Fall Hits You Need to Know

Sony’s June 2 State of Play ran for over 60 minutes and packed in more than a dozen game reveals — but one announcement silenced every PlayStation fan in the room. We now have a new God of War, and Kratos is not the one holding the axe.

State of Play | June 2, 2026 [English] — via PlayStation on YouTube

God of War Laufey — A New Protagonist, a New Era

The show’s finale dropped the biggest surprise of the night: God of War Laufey, starring Faye — Kratos’ wife, Atreus’ mother, and a warrior who was supposed to be dead. The premise is tantalising: “Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey, a new adventure is just beginning.”

No release date was confirmed beyond TBA 2026, but the gameplay footage shown was clearly running on PS5 hardware, and the mythology-soaked world looks every bit as stunning as Ragnarök. For Singapore PS5 gamers who have been waiting for the next chapter after Ragnarök‘s cliffhanger, this is it — and we are watching Faye’s story unfold.

Marvel’s Wolverine Gets a Date: 15 September 2026

Marvel's Wolverine PS5 gameplay - State of Play June 2026

Insomniac Games’ long-awaited Marvel’s Wolverine finally has a launch date — 15 September 2026, PS5 exclusive. The extended gameplay reveal showed Logan fighting alongside Jean Grey and clashing with cybernetic Reavers serving the industrialist Bolivar Trask. Sabretooth appears to be lurking as a key antagonist.

Combat looks brutal in the best way: a Rage meter builds with successful hits, Tier 3 unlocking a stylised monochromatic slaughter mode. The Healing Factor activates as a Last Stand mechanic when health hits critical. This is a full single-player action game — no multiplayer, no live service — and that alone has us excited.

Confirmed pricing: Standard Edition at US$69.99 / ¥8,980; SGD pricing has not been officially announced at the time of writing, though local PlayStation partners typically price at a comparable SGD rate to Japan’s yen figure. Keep an eye on the PlayStation Singapore store.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword — 25 September, and It Looks Stunning

For fans of Capcom’s beloved samurai series, Onimusha: Way of the Sword now has a firm date: 25 September 2026 on PS5. Set in early Edo-period Kyoto, the game brings the demon-slaying, oni-gauntlet action of the classic PS2 series into full modern 3D for the first time. A playable demo was also announced as part of the State of Play reveal.

This one matters particularly for Singapore and Southeast Asian gamers — Onimusha has always had a devoted following in this region. The feudal Japan aesthetic, the brutal sword combat, the yokai enemies: it all holds up, and then some.

The Full Fall 2026 PS5 Lineup at a Glance

Beyond the headliners, the State of Play confirmed a stacked September–October 2026 window for PS5:

  • Dune: Awakening — 22 September (open-world survival MMO)
  • Marvel’s Wolverine — 15 September
  • Control Resonant — 24 September
  • Silent Hill: Townfall — 24 September
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword — 25 September
  • Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve — 2 October
  • Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition — 1 October
  • Rayman Legends Retold — 1 October
  • Phantom Blade Zero — 29 October
  • No Rest for the Wicked — October (date TBC)

That is eight confirmed releases between mid-September and end of October. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition alone will have Southeast Asian gaming cafes buzzing — the Warriors franchise is a staple here.

Longer-Term Reveals Worth Noting

Until Dawn 2 is coming in 2027 as a standalone horror sequel from Firesprite, this time dropping ghost hunters onto an abandoned tropical island — branching choices intact. Kemuri, a yokai-hunting co-op action game from Ikumi Nakamura’s studio UNSEEN, also debuted for 2027; the Tokyo setting and supernatural enemy design look genuinely original.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get some treats too: Runescape: Dragonwilds hits Game Catalog day one, and Premium members get Gitaroo Man this June and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in August — great timing to revisit the series before Way of the Sword drops.

Last Words

For Singapore PS5 owners, the State of Play just turned the second half of 2026 into one of the most expensive gaming seasons in recent memory. God of War Laufey has no date yet, but Wolverine, Onimusha, Dune Awakening, and Dynasty Warriors 3 all land within six weeks of each other. Budget wisely.

The full 60-minute show is on PlayStation’s YouTube channel if you want to watch every reveal back to back. And check out our coverage of other gaming news to stay up to date ahead of Summer Game Fest this week.
