The Culling Game: What This Arc Is About

The Culling Game arc is what everything in Jujutsu Kaisen has been building toward. Following the chaos of the Shibuya Incident and the sealing of Satoru Gojo inside the Prison Realm, Kenjaku’s master plan snaps into focus: a death tournament — the Culling Game — forcing sorcerers and newly awakened Cursed Energy users to kill inside barrier-sealed colonies spread across Japan. Leave without enough points, and the barrier kills you. Stop fighting, and your rivals close the gap.

Yuji Itadori enters this arc as a wanted man with no mentor, no institutional backing, and a dwindling number of allies who are still willing to be seen with him. Joining him are characters introduced in Season 2 — Yuta Okkotsu and Choso — alongside several new faces who quickly become the season’s biggest draws.

What’s New on Singapore Netflix from 22 July

Singapore Netflix has carried The Culling Game Part 1 in its catalogue since the season was airing earlier this year — so if you started watching in Japanese with subtitles, you already had access. What changes on 22 July is the multilingual track rollout: Netflix Anime confirmed via their official account that the global expansion brings dubbed versions to all regions simultaneously. English dub, alongside a range of other language tracks, is now live.

For Singapore households where not everyone in the room reads subtitles fast enough, that is a meaningful upgrade. All 12 episodes are available in one batch — no week-by-week wait.

If you prefer Crunchyroll — which has carried Part 1 since JJK began its simulcast on 9 January 2026 — nothing changes there. Both platforms carry the season; Netflix just makes the dub easy to access for subscribers who have not crossed over.

New Characters to Watch

Season 3 introduces several Culling Game players who quickly overshadow the expectation that this is just a bracket tournament full of disposable antagonists. The four standouts:

  • Kinji Hakari — a disgraced Jujutsu High student whose Cursed Technique ties his combat ability to a pachinko jackpot. When the jackpot hits, he becomes effectively immortal. His colony fight is one of the season’s peak episodes.
  • Kirara Hoshi — Hakari’s manager and a sorcerer whose technique manipulates proximity and positions in ways that make conventional attack patterns useless.
  • Hiromi Higuruma — a defence lawyer who awakened his Cursed Technique and set up a courtroom inside a colony. His Judgeman domain is the season’s most conceptually original fight.
  • Fumihiko Takaba — a comedian whose technique may be the single most absurd power in the franchise. His episode is the tonal wildcard of the season.

Season 4 — The Culling Game Part 2 — Is Confirmed for 2027

The Culling Game does not resolve in Part 1. Season 3 ends at a point that leaves the central rescue mission incomplete and the wider situation more fragile than when it began. Part 2 — effectively Season 4 — has been officially confirmed with a worldwide Crunchyroll release targeted for 2027. No specific date has been announced.

With Gege Akutami’s manga having concluded in September 2024, MAPPA is adapting a complete story with a definitive ending — no open threads, no indefinite hiatuses. Watching Part 1 now gives you a full picture of the pieces in play before the final run.

Jujutsu Kaisen × Monster Strike Collab 3 Is Live — Gojo and Itadori Finally Ascend

Jujutsu Kaisen’s biggest Monster Strike moment yet is live. Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori, and Kento Nanami have received their first-ever True Divine Evolution forms — the game’s highest upgrade tier — while five brand-new characters make their gacha debut. Monster Strike’s third Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration started today at noon JST, and it’s the most substantial of the three events so far.

Wave 1 Fan Favourites Finally Get Their True Divine Evolution

The headline act is what long-time MonSt JJK players have been waiting for. Three characters from the original collaboration are receiving True Divine Evolution (真獣神化), Monster Strike’s top-tier upgrade: Gojo Satoru (Dark attribute, ★6), Yuji Itadori (Fire, ★6), and Kento Nanami (Light, ★6) all ascend to their definitive in-game forms with completely new ability sets. If you’ve held onto these units through two previous collaborations, that patience just paid off in a big way.

Five New Characters Join in Wave 3

Wave 3 adds more new characters than either previous collab. Leading the limited gacha are three ★6 units: Yuta Okkotsu (Water) — the lead protagonist of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel and among the most-requested Monster Strike additions — Choso (Wood), and Maki Zenin (Dark). Panda and Takaba Haruaki also join as additional gacha units. For Singapore fans who caught the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film, seeing Yuta finally enter the Monster Strike roster is a long-overdue arrival.

Wave 2 Characters Get Their Upgrades Too

The collab doesn’t leave Wave 2 players behind. Nobara Kugisaki, Megumi Fushiguro, and Mei Mei all unlock Beast God Evolution Kai (獣神化・改) — one step below True Divine Evolution — boosting their stats ahead of the new Wave 3 challenge quests. If you skipped the previous event, Wave 2 characters are also available to pull again during this period.

Event Schedule, Missions, and Playing from Singapore

The Collab 3 gacha and collaboration quests — five stages ranging from ★5 to ★6 — run until 11:59 JST on 2 August 2026. A daily Shibuya Incident Mission continues until 5 August, awarding 20 points per day redeemable for characters, stamps, and voice sets. Login stamps through the event distribute True Beast Soul materials (needed for the new True Divine Evolutions) daily, so logging in consistently pays off.

Monster Strike is a Japan-primary title — Singapore players who run the game on a Japanese App Store account can access this event in full. MIXI opened a Web Shop pre-sale at midnight JST, twelve hours before the in-app gacha launched, offering 30 total pulls across three 10-pull sets for ¥7,800 (around S$72). The Web Shop also lets you pull on all three collab gacha batches — Wave 1, Wave 2, and Wave 3 — at the same time.

JJK Season 4: Culling Game Part 2 Gets Its First Teaser

Jujutsu Kaisen fans, the wait is finally getting shorter. During MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal event on 19 June 2026, the studio unveiled the first teaser trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2 — confirming active production and naming a brand-new director to lead it home.

What the Culling Game Part 2 Teaser Shows

The teaser is short but loaded. It previews several of the arc’s most anticipated fights — Hakari versus Kashimo picks up steam, while Yuki Tsukumo and Choso are shown holding ground against Kenjaku. Maki Zenin, Yuji Itadori, and Megumi Fushiguro press deeper into the battle royale, and there is a brief but significant glimpse of Kenjaku meeting with figures tied to the United States government — a political thread that has been quietly building through the arc.

The footage is enough to remind you exactly how high the stakes are. Part 1 set up an almost impossible board — Part 2 has to pay all of it off.

New Director at the Helm — Takeru Sato Steps Up

The biggest production news out of the announcement is the director change. Takeru Sato — who served as an assistant director on Season 3 and previously directed ZOMBIE LAND SAGA: Yumeginga Paradise — is taking over as director for Season 4. Shota Goshozono, who directed Season 2 and played a major creative role in Season 3, moves into a chief director role, staying close to the project.

Sato shared a statement at the event, as reported by Anime Corner: “I have been appointed as the director for the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, ‘Culling Game: Part 2.’ I will devote myself fully to bringing the series’ appeal to life in animation in the best possible way.”

Having Goshozono step back into a supervisory position is a smart move — it keeps creative continuity intact while bringing in fresh energy on the execution side.

No Release Date Yet — But It Is Confirmed In Production

MAPPA has not announced a release window for Season 4. Fan speculation based on the studio’s production patterns points toward 2027, but that is not official. Given that the teaser specifically says “Season 4 in active production” (鋭意制作中), it is firmly past the announcement-only stage.

The Culling Game Part 2 will need to pay off a huge amount of narrative and character investment — so it is no surprise MAPPA is being thorough rather than rushing to air.

Jujutsu Kaisen may have wrapped its main run, but the universe is far from over. VIZ Media confirmed on 12 June 2026 that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo — Gege Akutami’s near-future sci-fi sequel — will receive its first English print edition in Spring 2027. The three-volume manga is already available to read in English right now on MANGA Plus and VIZ’s digital platform, but for local fans who prefer a book in hand, the physical volumes are on their way.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (published in Japan as Jujutsu Kaisen ≡) is a direct sequel to the original manga, set in the year 2086 — 68 years after the Culling Game that defined the series’ final arc. Written by series creator Gege Akutami with artwork by Yuji Iwasaki, the story kicks off when an alien race known as the Simurians arrives on Earth in a spacecraft. Unlike most sci-fi aliens, the Simurians are capable of wielding Jujutsu Sorcery — and they’re not invaders. They’re looking for a new home.

The manga ran as a limited serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2025 through early 2026, collected into three volumes. The final volume, Volume 3, was published in Japan on 1 May 2026.

Meet the New Okkotsu Siblings — and an Alien Diplomat

The three leads bring both a sense of legacy and something genuinely new to the JJK universe:

  • Tsurugi Okkotsu — grandson of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zen’in, the elder brother and a skilled jujutsu sorcerer
  • Yuka Okkotsu — Tsurugi’s younger sister, equally capable, and described as having an overpowered cursed technique of her own
  • Marulu Val Vol Yelvori (Maru) — the Simurian diplomat assigned to partner with the Okkotsu siblings; sent to demonstrate that his people can coexist with humanity

Fans of the original series will immediately recognise the weight of those surnames. Yuta Okkotsu was one of the most powerful sorcerers in the main run, and seeing his grandchildren carry that legacy into a sci-fi setting is a compelling hook even before you get into the actual story.

To commemorate the final volume’s release, Studio MAPPA — the team behind the JJK TV anime — produced a special animated PV for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (Japanese). The clip surpassed three million views within 12 hours of going live on the official Jump Channel, with many viewers noting it looked indistinguishable from an actual anime episode. No full adaptation has been announced yet, but the PV’s existence — and the audience response to it — makes one seem increasingly likely. The studio behind Vampire Survivors has partnered with Shueisha Games to bring Jujutsu Kaisen into the survivors genre — and thrown a battle royale twist on top. Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton was announced at the Nintendo Direct on 9 June 2026, and it looks unlike any JJK game before it.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton?

Developed by poncle — the UK studio whose auto-attack game Vampire Survivors kept a generation of players up past midnight — and published by Shueisha Games, Survivaton takes the survivors formula and adds a competitive edge. Up to eight players compete simultaneously on a shared map, mowing down cursed spirits to rack up points. When you hit 100 points, you earn the right to add a new rule to the match. Rules can disable rival players’ attacks, reverse their controls, or steal their accumulated points outright.

It is a direct nod to the Culling Game arc in Gege Akutami’s manga: participants there could rewrite the rules of the game itself to gain the upper hand. The twist is that reaching 100 points is not a win condition — it is a power move. The actual fight for survival continues, now shaped by whatever chaos the leading player has introduced.

Characters and Techniques

The game launches with over 20 playable characters from across the Jujutsu Kaisen roster. Names confirmed from the announcement trailer include Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and Satoru Gojo — whose voice rings out in the opening cutscene. Each character brings their own skill set, and additional fighters can be unlocked through in-game conditions as you play.

Controls are deliberately stripped back: you move, your character attacks automatically. The depth comes from levelling up mid-match and choosing from randomised skill options, plus filling a gauge to unleash signature techniques — Domain Expansion and Black Flash among them. Boss encounters spawn on the map to keep things unpredictable, and when the dust settles, the top two survivors face off in a direct duel for the win.

Platforms, Modes, and Release Window

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in 2026 — no specific release date has been confirmed yet. The game supports up to 8-player online multiplayer alongside a solo mode, and the confirmed language list includes English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Southeast Asian players, Singapore included, are covered on all fronts.

As reported by Anime News Network at the time of the announcement, this is poncle’s first collaboration with a major anime IP. The studio’s previous title — Vampire Survivors — shipped to enormous commercial and critical success across platforms, which makes this crossover a serious proposition rather than a branded cash-in. Pricing has not been announced.

If you’ve been waiting for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 news, a Chainsaw Man update, or any hint of what’s next for Attack on Titan — set an alarm for Friday, 19 June. Studio MAPPA is hosting a landmark 15th anniversary presentation at 8pm JST / 7pm SGT, and almost every major franchise it handles is on the bill.

MAPPA at 15: A Studio Behind Half Your Favourite Anime

MAPPA was founded on 14 June 2011 and has since become one of the most prolific animation studios in the world — responsible for Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Dorohedoro, Ranma ½, Yuri on Ice, and more.
