Dragon Quest’s Luida’s Bar Goes Permanent in Osaka — Opens 25 August

Dragon Quest’s beloved themed bar is putting down roots in Osaka. Luida’s Bar (ルイーダの酒場) in Osaka — the official Dragon Quest collaboration venue operated by Pasela Resorts — opens as a permanent location on 25 August 2026, transitioning from a limited-time 40th anniversary pop-up that ran since May. English gaming media has yet to pick this up, but SG fans with a Japan trip on the cards should know it’s there.

From Pop-Up to Permanent in Namba

Luida’s Bar launched as a limited-time pop-up at Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori 5F in May 2026 to mark the Dragon Quest series’ 40th anniversary. The strong response from fans pushed the operator to convert it into a permanent establishment — a meaningful vote of confidence from the Osaka market. The limited run closed on 24 August, and the permanent doors open the very next day on 25 August.

The Tokyo Luida’s Bar in Akihabara (Japanese) has been a fixture on the Dragon Quest fan pilgrimage circuit for years, and Osaka now gets its own. The name comes from Luida, the kindly tavern host in the early Dragon Quest games who helps heroes recruit companions before they set off to save the world — a fitting concept for a venue where fans gather to share their love of the franchise.

Location and Hours at Luida’s Bar Osaka

The permanent Osaka bar sits at Dotonbori 1-4-27, Chuo-ku, Osaka (Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori, 5F), a three-to-four-minute walk from Nihonbashi and Namba stations. Operating hours are 11:30–21:00 daily.

Weekdays run on free entry with a two-hour courtesy limit when the venue gets busy. Weekends and public holidays switch to a full reservation system across five 90-minute timeslots (11:30–13:00, 13:30–15:00, 15:30–17:00, 17:30–19:00, 19:30–21:00). Reservations open up to 30 days in advance via TableCheck; walk-ins are accepted on weekdays. Phone: 0120-997-277.

Osaka-Exclusive Menu on the Way

Pasela Resorts has confirmed that Osaka-exclusive limited menu items are in the works — dishes and drinks distinct from what’s available at the Tokyo location. The specifics haven’t been announced yet; we’ll add them here once they drop. Both Luida’s Bar locations are known for Dragon Quest-themed food and drinks: Slime-shaped sweets, monster-inspired cocktails and dishes named after spells and in-game items are par for the course. (Source: Famitsu (Japanese), Dengeki Online (Japanese))

For Singapore fans travelling to Japan, Namba is easy to access — it’s a short walk from the main Dotonbori tourist strip and a direct train ride from central Osaka. With the venue now permanent, there’s no seasonal countdown to beat; it’ll be there whenever your Japan trip lines up. Weekend timeslots will fill up fast, so book on TableCheck as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s five-year anime anniversary is being celebrated in style across Yokohama this August — a city-wide collab at three iconic waterfront venues runs until 31 August, and the whole month culminates in Juju Fes 2026 -5th Anniversary-, a two-day live event at K-Arena Yokohama on 29 and 30 August.

Yokohama Goes Jujutsu for August 2026

The collaboration spans three of Yokohama’s most recognisable waterfront landmarks: Yokohama Cosmo World, the Yokohama Air Cabin aerial gondola, and Yokohama Marine Tower. All three venues have been dressed in newly commissioned 5th-anniversary artwork since the collab opened on 1 August, and large-scale photo installations with the distinctive magic-hour anniversary visuals were added from 15 August.

Entry to Cosmo World is free — individual rides and attractions are charged separately. Inside, fans can take part in a stamp rally spanning multiple locations within the park, play carnival games featuring newly recorded JJK character voice lines, and shop at a limited-time collaboration store with exclusive merchandise, themed drinks and food. Items sell out fast on opening days; weekday visits offer better availability.

The Cosmo Clock 21 — Yokohama’s 112-metre Ferris wheel visible from across the bay — is also part of the activation, projected with JJK imagery for a striking night-time display. The full Yokohama City collaboration is an official tourism initiative by the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (Japanese), making it one of the most ambitious JJK event partnerships to date.

The month-long celebrations close with Juju Fes 2026 -5th Anniversary- (official site, Japanese) at K-Arena Yokohama on 29 and 30 August. Per the official announcement, each day runs a live dubbing stage where the voice cast performs scenes from the anime live on stage, a special band performs the JJK soundtrack live, and the series’ opening and ending theme artists take the stage for full performances. Based on previous Juju Fes events, major franchise announcements — new season details, merchandise reveals, or project teases — typically land here too.

Tickets for Juju Fes 2026 are sold through lottery via the official event channels; no official live stream has been announced at the time of writing. If you are planning a Japan trip around the event, the Yokohama collab venues are open until 31 August, so the 29–31 August window covers both Juju Fes and the city installations in one visit. Tokyo Game Show 2026 Turns 30: New Website Live, TGS NEWS STUDIO Debuts, and Southeast Asia Gets a BOOSTERZ Rep

Tokyo Game Show 2026 key visual featuring the 30th anniversary badge against Makuhari Messe backdrop

Tokyo Game Show is turning 30, and CESA is pulling out all the stops. The official 30th Anniversary commemorative website opened today, 17 August 2026, alongside a wave of programme announcements that give Singapore fans plenty of reason to mark their calendars — no plane ticket required.

Five Days, One Show

TGS 2026 runs 17–21 September at Makuhari Messe, making this the first-ever five-day edition of the show. Business days are 17–18 September (10:00–17:00 JST), with public days running 19–21 September (9:30–17:00 JST). CESA is targeting 300,000 visitors across 3,500+ booths — comfortably the largest TGS in its three-decade history.

TGS NEWS STUDIO Is Already Live

CESA launched a dedicated streaming programme, TGS NEWS STUDIO, today at 7 PM JST (6 PM SGT) across YouTube, Twitch, and X. The show will cover exhibitor announcements and show news in the run-up to September, and there are no geo-restrictions — so tune in from Singapore as easily as anyone in Tokyo. An additional streaming event, the 30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage, kicks off online on 11 September, roughly a week before the show floor opens.

BOOSTERZ Wave 3: Southeast Asia Represented

The TGS ambassador programme BOOSTERZ added its third wave of talent today. The new lineup spans six markets: Hideo Ishiguro and Atsuko Uchida (Japan), Taki (Philippines), Kyle and Kawaii Coco (USA), KIMBLUE (Korea), and 米米米大師 (Taiwan). Having a Filipino creator in the mix is the closest the BOOSTERZ roster has come to the Southeast Asian gaming community — and with all TGS NEWS STUDIO content streaming without region locks, their coverage will be just as accessible from Singapore.

Twitch CEO Keynote on Opening Day

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy is confirmed for a keynote on 17 September, the first business day. No further details have been announced yet, but Clancy’s presence signals that streaming and live content will be a central theme for TGS 2026 — fitting for a show doubling down on its global online reach.

JUJUTSU KAISEN WORLD 2026 Opens in Ikebukuro — Free Entry, Curse Missions and Exclusive Merch

If you have a Japan trip coming up before the end of September, pencil in a detour to Ikebukuro — JUJUTSU KAISEN WORLD 2026 opened yesterday (7 August) at Bandai Namco Cross Store Tokyo inside Sunshine City, and it runs all the way to 27 September with free entry for everyone. No tickets, no queue ballots, just walk in.

What Is JUJUTSU KAISEN WORLD?

Bandai Namco’s multi-city experiential event marks the franchise’s 5th anniversary — a milestone the JJK team is marking in style, considering the manga has now shipped over 150 million copies worldwide. The event covers the anime from Season 1 through to the second season’s Shibuya Incident arc, bringing key moments and characters to life across one immersive floor inside the Bandai Namco Cross Store. After Tokyo the tour moves to Osaka, Hakata and Yokohama, with dates for those cities still to be confirmed.

For Singapore fans who caught Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game on Netflix last month, this is the perfect bridge event while the fandom waits for what comes next.

Jujutsu High Trial Enrollment — The Main Attraction

The centrepiece is 呪術高専体験入学 ~呪霊討祓任務への挑戦~ (“Jujutsu High Trial Enrollment: Challenge to Curse Exorcism Mission”) — an interactive attraction where visitors take on a curse extermination mission alongside Itadori, Nanami and Gojo. The experience issues a performance report on completion, so bring your best cursed energy. Last admission for the attraction is 19:30.

Three Mini-Games, All With Guaranteed Prizes

After the attraction, three character-themed mini-games award prizes including acrylic stands, posters and stickers:

  • Fushiguro’s Ten Shadows Technique game — a fortune-based experience inspired by Megumi’s shikigami
  • Kugisaki’s Straw Doll Technique roulette — spin your luck on Nobara’s signature curse
  • Inumaki’s onigiri-themed game — a food-meets-cursed-speech challenge with Toge

Mini-games accept participants up to 19:55.

Event-Exclusive Merch and Themed Food

The goods lineup features original artwork commissioned specifically for JUJUTSU KAISEN WORLD, illustrated by Tomoya Mizoguchi. The range covers can badges, clear cards, acrylic stands and a particularly tempting Prison Realm cookie box. There are also items drawing on the Hidden Inventory arc and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film — so completionists will have plenty to hunt through.

On the food side, tenant restaurants serve dishes themed on characters and story arcs, with a bonus illustration sheet included with each food order (excluding some beverages and soft serve). The panda curry is already getting attention online. The cafe corner closes its kitchen at 19:30.

Venue Details and Getting There

The Tokyo stop is at Bandai Namco Cross Store Tokyo, 3F, Sunshine City World Import Mart Building, 3-1-3 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku. The venue sits a short walk from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station (Toden Arakawa Line / Yūrakuchō Line), or a two-minute bus ride to Sunshine City Prince Hotel from Ikebukuro Station west exit.

Hours are 10:00 to 20:00 daily (including public holidays), from 7 August through 27 September 2026. With September school holidays on the horizon, Singapore fans planning a Japan trip in the coming weeks have a solid window to work with — just note the attraction and mini-game last admissions above.

Dates for Osaka, Hakata and Yokohama are expected to be announced through the official event page (Japanese). For Singapore JJK fans planning around the event, keep an eye on announcements — if Osaka or Yokohama dates land, there may be a second chance to catch the tour later in the year.

UNDERTALE MUSEUM: The World’s First Exhibition Opens in Tokyo and Osaka in 2027

Announced yesterday by the UNDERTALE MUSEUM Executive Committee, the world’s first large-scale exhibition dedicated to Toby Fox’s cult RPG is heading to Japan in 2027 — and it’s shaping up to be something Singapore fans will want to plan a trip around.

The Underground Comes to Life

UNDERTALE, the 2015 indie RPG by Toby Fox, took the world by surprise with its pixel-art world, jazz-and-chiptune soundtrack, and a combat system where mercy is always an option. A decade on, it remains one of the most beloved games of its generation — and now, for the first time ever, its underground kingdom is being built in the real world.

The exhibition concept is described as immersive rather than gallery-style: visitors won’t just look at framed artwork behind glass, but walk through spaces designed to feel like the game’s setting — from the flower-filled Ruins to the cold corridors of Snowdin. Details on specific rooms and interactive elements haven’t been released yet, but with Toby Fox overseeing the creative direction, it’s safe to expect the same care that went into every pixel of the original game.

Dates, Venues, and Where to Go

Two cities, two legs:

  • Tokyo — Sunshine City Exhibition Hall A, Ikebukuro: 19 February to 10 March 2027
  • Osaka — ATC Gallery: 22 April to 9 May 2027

Both venues are major exhibition spaces well-used to large-scale pop-culture events. Sunshine City in Ikebukuro is one of Tokyo’s go-to fan event halls, and the Osaka leg runs right into Golden Week (29 April – 5 May 2027) — prime travel season for Singapore visitors.

No ticket prices or booking windows have been announced yet. Follow @undertale_mus on X for updates as they drop.

Inside the Battle System — and Beyond MERCY

For the uninitiated: UNDERTALE’s core hook is a combat system where fighting is one option, but never the only one. Every encounter offers ACT, ITEM, and MERCY alongside FIGHT — and the game’s story changes depending on which path you take. It’s a premise that sounds simple and lands devastatingly well.

That emotional weight is exactly what the UNDERTALE MUSEUM promises to translate into physical space. The organising committee includes cooperation from 8-4 (the Japanese localization studio behind major Nintendo titles) and Fangamer (the official UNDERTALE merchandise partner). Both companies have deep ties to the property — and their involvement hints at a bilingual exhibition with strong international accessibility.

A Hands-On Toby Fox Production

UNDERTALE was famously made by one person. Toby Fox composed the music, wrote the script, coded the game, and drew most of the sprites — the kind of singular creative vision that rarely survives the transition to a large-scale live event. His direct supervision of the UNDERTALE MUSEUM sets this apart from licensed exhibitions that get the brand right but lose the soul. According to the official announcement (Japanese), the exhibition aims to create “a special space where determination wells up with each step forward” — which is as on-brand a promise as you’ll ever read.

For Singapore Fans: The Windows to Book Around

We covered the UNDERTALE Determination Symphony’s second Singapore night this September — but the museum is a completely different scale. For fans eyeing a Japan trip, here’s how the windows align:

  • Tokyo run: 19 February – 10 March 2027. Late-February Japan can be chilly but uncrowded; cherry blossom season starts right as the exhibition closes.
  • Osaka run: 22 April – 9 May 2027. Golden Week falls squarely in this window, so book accommodation early — flights and hotels fill up months in advance.

The announcement was made entirely through Japanese-language channels on 30 July 2026 and hasn’t yet been covered in English-language gaming media, so check back for updates as more details — tickets, full exhibition layout, merchandise — are confirmed. We’ll cover them here as they land.

FFX Museum -幻光の記憶- Opens in Shinjuku This September — Fan Art Deadline 31 July

Final Fantasy X turned 25 on 19 July — a landmark anniversary for one of the most beloved JRPGs ever made. Square Enix has already marked the occasion with the Switch 2 HD Remaster and Daimaru Tokyo pop-up, but the centrepiece is still to come: a dedicated museum exhibition landing in Shinjuku this September.

FINAL FANTASY X MUSEUM -幻光の記憶-

Titled FINAL FANTASY X MUSEUM -幻光の記憶- (“Museum of Phantom Light Memories”), the exhibition will run from 12 to 27 September 2026 at Lumine 0, NEWoMan Shinjuku 5F — a venue directly accessible from Shinjuku Station without stepping outside. Per the official Final Fantasy 25th anniversary page (Japanese), hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, with an earlier close at 5:00 PM on the final day, 27 September. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.

Ticket pricing has not yet been announced. Square Enix describes the exhibit as covering multiple displays on the game and its history, with exclusive anniversary merchandise available on-site.

Fan Art Could End Up on the Exhibition Wall

Square Enix has opened an online fan art submission form ahead of the exhibition, with selected works to be displayed as part of the show. The form closes on 31 July 2026 — two weeks from now. The company is also accepting short written comments from fans (targeted at Japanese residents) for the exhibit. If you want a piece of your FFX fan art in Shinjuku, the official anniversary site (Japanese) is the place to start.

The Perfect Tokyo Game Show Side Trip

Final Fantasy X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- — two-record set with Yuna and Tidus cover art
Image courtesy of Square Enix. Character design: Tetsuya Nomura.

The dates are no coincidence: the exhibition overlaps with Tokyo Game Show 2026, scheduled for 17–21 September at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Singapore consistently sends one of the strongest overseas contingents to TGS, and Shinjuku is an easy same-trip addition — about 50 minutes by JR from Makuhari Messe, well within day-trip range. Tidus and Yuna in a Shinjuku museum while you’re already in Tokyo for TGS is too good a combination to pass up.

For those staying home, the FINAL FANTASY X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- — two records, 20 tracks of the iconic Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu soundtrack, with new Tidus and Yuna sleeve art — launched on 1 July via official Square Enix channels. Anniversary merchandise tends to move quickly around exhibition periods; Singapore importers may want to get in early. The FFX/X-2 HD Remaster is also live now on Nintendo Switch 2 if you need an excuse to revisit Spira before September.

More anniversary news as it comes through — follow our Game News section for the latest on the exhibition and any ticket announcements.

Giant Snorlax Hits Yokohama — Pokémon Sleep’s 3rd Anniversary Real-World Event Is Now Open

Three years of tracking Pokémon sleep styles — and The Pokémon Company is celebrating with something you can actually walk into. Pokémon Sleep’s 3rd Anniversary real-world event, “Yokohama de Mikkē! Pokémon Negao Research,” officially opened today at two venues in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai district, and it runs all the way through 23 August 2026. If you are visiting Japan this summer, this is the easiest detour from Tokyo you will make.

Giant Snorlax Napping in Yokohama Landmark Plaza

The centrepiece of the event is impossible to miss: a massive Snorlax installation at Landmark Plaza’s ground-floor garden square, right in the heart of the Minato Mirai shopping district. The big guy is surrounded by sleeping Pokémon cards and berry-shaped message boards — visitors can write anniversary wishes and leave them around the display. It is exactly the kind of over-the-top adorable set-up that makes for perfect photos, and entry to see Snorlax is completely free.

Free Stamp Rally Across Both Venues

The main activity is a free stamp rally spread across Landmark Plaza and MARK IS Minato Mirai next door. Seek out sleeping Pokémon — including Dedenne, Mimikyu, Numel, and Kangaskhan — hidden throughout both shopping centres, collect all the stamps, and redeem them for either a 200-yen in-app shopping discount (limited to 1,000 per day, so go early) or exclusive event stickers. Both venues are open 10am–7pm daily.

Merch, Drinks, and a Gacha Corner

MARK IS Minato Mirai hosts the official merchandise shop (1F) with 29 exclusive products, including a Snorlax-shaped cushion at 70cm × 60cm, 3rd-anniversary pin badges, tote bags, apparel, pouches, and clear bottles — all featuring sleeping Pokémon art. The shop runs on a timed-entry lottery for 17–26 July, so check the official site in advance if you are heading there in the opening weeks. Merchandise is limited and first-come, first-served once you are inside.

A themed drink stand also sits on the 1F of MARK IS, serving four event-exclusive beverages (¥1,000–¥1,400) — flavours include “Early Rising Coffee Jelly” and “Demon’s Kiss Fruit Oat” — each with a randomly distributed coaster from six designs. There is also a gacha machine with Pokémon-type muffler towels at ¥2,000 per go.

Sleep Inside a Poké Ball — The TOTONE Nap Pod

Image courtesy of The Pokémon Company

Perhaps the most unexpected attraction is the Pokémon Sleep × TOTONE “Nap Recovery Device” on the 5th floor of MARK IS. Toyota’s TOTONE is a strategic nap pod styled as a Poké Ball — you climb in, relax, and can optionally use the brainwave measurement function to get a personalised sleep report. Entry is free with proof of the Pokémon Sleep app download, though you will need to grab a same-day slot on arrival. It is genuinely one of the most uniquely Japanese experiences you will find in Yokohama this summer.

Planning Your Visit from Singapore

Yokohama’s Minato Mirai is around 30 minutes by train from Shibuya on the Tokyu Toyoko Line (direct to Minato Mirai station), making it an effortless day trip or half-day add-on to any Tokyo itinerary. Both event venues sit right at the station exit. With the event running through 23 August, it is a natural fit for Singapore families visiting Japan over the school holiday period — especially since the stamp rally and Snorlax photo spot cost nothing.

If you are already playing Pokémon Sleep, open the app while you are there — the in-game 3rd Anniversary Fest, which brings Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup to the game for the first time, runs concurrently. Check out more gaming and pop-culture events on GameTrader, and let us know in the comments if you are planning a Yokohama trip this summer.
