Mega Skarmory Raid Day Is This Saturday — Bonuses, Counters and Tips

Steel-winged and gold-plated, Mega Skarmory arrives in Pokémon GO for the very first time this Saturday, 27 June — and Singapore trainers have a tight three-hour window from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm local time to catch one. Here’s everything you need.

Mega Skarmory Makes Its Pokémon GO Global Debut

Niantic’s Skarmory Super Mega Raid Day kicks off at 2:00 pm on Saturday, 27 June 2026, running until 5:00 pm local time. This is Mega Skarmory’s first-ever appearance in the game — the Steel/Flying-type’s striking golden Mega form has never appeared in a Pokémon GO raid before. Every trainer starts from zero, with no carry-over Mega Level to lean on.

Shiny Skarmory encounter odds are boosted across the entire event window. In its shiny form, Mega Skarmory swaps the signature gold plumage for a muted grey-green — a striking visual flip from the default. Every Skarmory you catch during the event also starts with Mega Level 1 already unlocked, which saves Mega Energy down the line.

Event Bonuses — Free Passes, Shiny Boost and Paid Perks

Even free-to-play trainers get a solid set of bonuses just for showing up:

  • Up to 6 free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs during the event window
  • Remote Raid Pass limit raised to 20 (active from Saturday 27 June at 8:00 am SGT through Sunday 28 June at 11:00 am SGT)
  • Every caught Skarmory starts with Mega Level 1 already unlocked
  • Increased shiny encounter rate from Super Mega Raids

The paid event ticket (US$4.99, roughly S$7 at current rates) rewards heavier raiders: up to 14 Raid Passes from Gyms, increased Rare Candy XL drops per raid, and a bonus 5,000 XP plus 5,000 Stardust for every Super Mega Raid completed. Niantic is also selling an Ultra Ticket Box (US$4.99) that bundles the event ticket with a bonus Premium Battle Pass — useful if you’re planning to chain multiple raids. Timed Research available during the event leads to a Premium Battle Pass and an encounter with Houndoom; complete it before 5:00 pm as it expires with the event.

Best Counters for Mega Skarmory

Mega Skarmory’s Steel/Flying typing comes with one of the longest resist lists in the game — Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Ground, Normal, Psychic, Steel, Bug, Grass, and Poison all deal reduced damage. Stick to Electric and Fire moves exclusively for optimal DPS.

Top picks:

  • Mega Charizard Y — Fire Spin + Overheat
  • Shadow Heatran — Fire Spin + Magma Storm
  • Regieleki — Thunder Shock + Zap Cannon
  • Shadow Electivire — Thunder Shock + Wild Charge
  • Shadow Raikou — Thunder Shock + Wild Charge

Budget options: Chandelure, Cinderace, and Galarian Darmanitan are accessible picks that perform well without requiring Shadow purification or Mega Energy to activate.

Finding Raids Across Singapore

Super Mega Raids only appear at select Gyms during the event window. Before heading out, check the official web map at pokemongo.com/map to locate which Gyms near you will be hosting one. Gyms at high-traffic parks — East Coast Park, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, and around the Botanic Gardens MRT — tend to attract groups quickly on Raid Days. Super Mega Raids are built for teams, so coordinate with your local crew beforehand and plan multiple runs to make the most of your 6 free passes.

Elixir Esports CQ Opens 2 July — Their Largest Outlet Yet

Singapore’s gaming cafe scene just levelled up. Elixir Esports is officially opening its largest outlet to date at CQ, Clarke Quay on 2 July 2026 — bringing its signature blend of professional-grade gaming, food and beverage, and live esports tournaments to one of the most iconic riverside districts in the city.

What Is Elixir Esports?

Elixir Esports has been part of Singapore’s gaming scene since 2015, building a reputation for premium LAN-cafe experiences that go well beyond the old-school cyber cafe formula. Their outlets at Lavender, Beauty World, Holland Village, and The Cathay each share the same DNA: sleek, futuristic interiors, high-end hardware, and a setup that feels as much like a lifestyle space as a gaming venue.

Stations across their outlets run on ASUS ROG PCs equipped with AMD 9070 XT graphics cards, paired with ZOWIE peripherals and ASUS monitors — including 360 Hz panels in select rooms for the truly twitch-dependent. Pricing starts from S$6 per hour, with VIP rooms, five-person party suites, and an Elixir VIP membership tier for regulars.

The brand also holds a distinctive technical edge: Singapore’s first and only centralised server room, which keeps all the bulky CPU hardware hidden away so each station is cleaner, cooler, and physically roomier than a traditional setup.

Elixir Esports CQ — What to Expect

The Clarke Quay outlet is billed as Elixir Esports’ biggest location to date, and will operate around the clock, 24 hours a day. It will house gaming facilities, a food and beverage section, and dedicated space for esports tournaments — making it one of the most complete gaming destinations in the city when it opens.

The CQ opening lands in the middle of a broader refresh for the riverside mall: CQ @ Clarke Quay announced eight new brands as part of a major tenant revamp in early 2026. Elixir Esports is one of the headline additions, a clear sign that gaming and esports culture has earned a permanent spot in mainstream Singapore entertainment.

Specific details on station count, the full F&B menu, and room configurations are expected to be confirmed around opening day — keep an eye on Elixir Esports’ official site and their Instagram @elixiresports.sg for the final word.

How to Get There

CQ @ Clarke Quay sits along the Singapore River and is a short walk from Clarke Quay MRT (NE5) on the North East Line. The area is well served by buses and taxis, and there’s plenty of dining and nightlife options nearby — ideal if you’re planning a longer outing around the gaming session.

Last words

A 24/7 flagship gaming outlet in Clarke Quay is the kind of thing Singapore gamers have been quietly hoping for. Whether you’re grinding ranked into the early hours, catching an esports final with friends, or just looking for a quality setup away from home, Elixir Esports CQ looks set to be one of the most compelling gaming spaces in the city. Pencil in 2 July.

Tokyo Is Building a Brand-New Anime Festival — TOKYO ANIME NEXT Lands in Ikebukuro This October

Tokyo just announced a brand-new anime festival, and it could become one of the most important events on the calendar for anime fans everywhere. The Japan Animation Association, co-hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, has unveiled TOKYO ANIME NEXT — a four-day showcase running 30 October to 2 November 2026 across Ikebukuro’s Toshima Ward. The announcement landed today directly from Tokyo’s official government press release, with no English coverage yet.

TOKYO ANIME NEXT — official announcement visual

What Is TOKYO ANIME NEXT?

TOKYO ANIME NEXT is the Japan Animation Association’s first major Tokyo-based event at this scale. The headline venue is Tokyo Tatemono Brillia HALL in Ikebukuro, with additional programming spread across multiple locations in the Toshima Ward district — the same neighbourhood that houses Sunshine City, Animate Ikebukuro, and some of the densest concentration of anime goods stores in the world.

The event’s stated mission is to showcase both the present and future of Japanese animation: connecting anime with international audiences and providing a platform for emerging animation talent.

What to Expect Across Four Days

The programme spans a genuinely broad range of formats. According to the official announcement, TOKYO ANIME NEXT will feature:

  • Screenings — acclaimed works and latest notable titles
  • Exhibitions — deep dives into animation production and craft
  • Workshops — children’s and educational programmes
  • Symposiums and talk events — panels on the state of the industry
  • Stage events — live performances and presentations

The finale on 2 November at Brillia HALL is the headline moment: a special orchestral performance synchronised with footage from anime titles popular overseas, framing both the art form’s history and its global future. Think less Comiket floor-scramble, more curated cultural showcase — with a live orchestra as the close.

The Bigger Picture: A Major 2027 Event Is Coming

Here is the part that has us paying close attention. The October 2026 event is explicitly described as a launch project — a test run, in effect, for a full-scale international anime festival planned to open in earnest in 2027. Organisers will use the finale on 2 November to formally announce those 2027 plans. In other words, what we are seeing now is the prologue to something bigger.

With Sony Music Solutions handling operations and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as co-host, the backing is serious. This is a government-supported push to establish Tokyo as a permanent, globally recognised anime events destination — similar to what AnimeJapan does for the spring season but with a stronger international and creative focus. The official website is already live at tokyoanimenext.jp, and the secretariat can be reached at info2026@tokyoanimenext.jp — programme details are listed as “coming soon.”

Last words

Late October into early November is arguably the best time of year to be in Japan — autumn leaves, cooler temperatures, and now TOKYO ANIME NEXT to anchor the anime side of any trip. Ikebukuro already draws Singapore otaku in big numbers given its Animate flagship and the Sunshine City figure shops; adding a four-day curated anime festival to the mix makes the case for a late October 2026 Japan trip even stronger.

Programme details and ticketing are still to come from the official site. We will update this page when announcements drop. Keep an eye on our events page for the latest Japan and SG anime event news.

Pokémon GO: Mega Skarmory Makes Its Debut in Super Mega Raids on 27 June

A Mega Evolution debut is always worth circling on the calendar, and this Saturday’s is no exception: Mega Skarmory is making its very first appearance in Pokémon GO on Saturday, 27 June 2026, during a three-hour Super Mega Raid Day running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time — a prime Singapore afternoon window for trainers looking to add a brand-new Mega to their collection.

Mega Skarmory: A Pokémon GO First

The armoured steel bird has been a fixture of competitive Pokémon play for decades, and its Mega Evolution is finally landing in Pokémon GO. As a Steel/Flying-type Mega, Skarmory brings a formidable defensive profile and a long list of resistances. A nice bonus this time around: every Skarmory caught during the event will have Mega Level 1 already unlocked, saving you the Mega Energy cost for its first Mega Evolution — a handy head-start that will pay off every time you power it up in future.

All the Bonuses Available on 27 June

Free for Every Trainer

  • Up to 6 free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs during the event window
  • Remote Raid Pass limit raised to 20 (active from Friday 26 June at 5:00 PM PDT through Saturday 27 June at 8:00 PM PDT)
  • Increased Shiny Skarmory encounter rate from Super Mega Raids
  • Timed Research available throughout the event — tasks include catching Pokémon, powering up 15 times, landing super-effective attacks, winning raids, and defeating Steel-type bosses — rewards include a Premium Battle Pass and a Houndoom encounter

Paid Event Ticket (US$4.99 / local pricing equivalent)

  • Up to 14 free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • +5,000 XP and +5,000 Stardust per Super Mega Raid victory
  • Increased Rare Candy XL drop rates

An Ultra Ticket Box at the same price bundles the event ticket with a bonus Premium Battle Pass. Tickets can be gifted to Great Friends or higher. Full event details are on the official Pokémon GO announcement page.

How to Take Down Mega Skarmory: Type Match-ups

Steel/Flying gives Mega Skarmory two clear weaknesses: Fire and Electric. Stack your raid team with hard-hitting attackers in either type — powerful Fire options or heavy-hitting Electric-types are your go-to — and avoid Grass, Bug, Normal, and Psychic moves, which Skarmory’s typing resists. The raised Remote Raid Pass limit active from Friday evening is a useful setup window: organise your remote raid invites in advance so you can chain raids efficiently once 2 PM hits on Saturday.

Planning Your Raid Route in Singapore

The 2:00–5:00 PM SGT slot on a Saturday afternoon is a natural fit for an outing. Singapore’s popular Pokémon GO hotspots — Gardens by the Bay, East Coast Park, and the Orchard Road corridor — are all dense with Gyms and easy to chain. Niantic’s web map can help you scout nearby Gyms before the event kicks off. And check back here for more upcoming Pokémon GO events as the rest of the June calendar fills out.

Last words

Six free Raid Passes, a genuine Mega debut, and shiny Skarmory odds — there is plenty to work with this Saturday even if you skip the paid ticket. Get your Fire and Electric teams ready, loop in your group chat, and decide on a starting point before 2 PM. Good luck out there, Singapore trainers.

Mika Nakashima Is Playing Singapore on 17 July 2026

The voice of Nana Osaki. The singer of Darling in the FranXX‘s unforgettable opening theme. Mika Nakashima is bringing her Asia Tour 2026 to Singapore, and she plays The Star Theatre on 17 July 2026. If you’ve been sleeping on this, now is the time to act — tickets are already on sale via SISTIC.

Who Is Mika Nakashima?

If you’ve spent any time in the anime world over the past two decades, you’ve already heard Mika Nakashima — you may just not have known her name. Born in Kyoto in 1983, she debuted as a singer in 2002 and quickly became one of Japan’s most recognisable voices.

For Singapore fans, two songs likely stand out most. The first is “KISS OF DEATH” (produced by HYDE), the electrifying opening theme for Darling in the FranXX (2018, A-1 Pictures / TRIGGER), which has racked up over 45 million streams on YouTube alone. The second is her role as Nana Osaki in the beloved 2006 anime series NANA — she not only voiced the punk-rock icon but performed in character as the frontwoman of fictional band BLAST, delivering songs like “GLAMOROUS SKY” that became inseparable from the show’s identity.

Outside of anime, she is perhaps best known for “Yuki no Hana” (2003), her debut winter ballad that sold millions and spawned hit covers across Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and Singapore.

What to Expect at The Star Theatre

The Singapore date marks a significant milestone: Mika Nakashima is celebrating her 25th debut anniversary on this tour, and the production reflects that. Audiences can expect a full band backed by live string arrangements, covering her iconic classics alongside more recent works. The set runs approximately 120 minutes and will be performed in Japanese.

The tour has already made stops across Asia — Bangkok, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur came earlier in the year — before finishing in Osaka and Tokyo. Singapore is part of the final international leg, and the SISTIC listing confirms it is an intimate, high-production show.

Tickets and How to Book

Tickets are available now through SISTIC (online or +65 6636 0055). Pricing runs from S$128 to S$328, depending on seating category. The concert is presented by Red Spade Entertainment.

  • Date: Friday, 17 July 2026
  • Time: 8:00 PM (doors 6:30 PM)
  • Venue: The Star Theatre, The Star Performing Arts Centre, 1 Vista Exchange Green, Singapore 138617
  • Tickets: S$128 – S$328 via SISTIC

Last words

Singapore has always had a deep connection to Japanese pop and anime culture, and Mika Nakashima is one of those artists whose voice is woven into that history. Whether you grew up with NANA, were glued to Darling in the FranXX, or simply know “Yuki no Hana” by heart — this is a rare chance to hear those songs performed live, with a full band, in a city that truly gets it. Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 Returns to Suntec

Mark your calendars, Singapore: Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 (#CSF26) is back, and organiser SOZO is promising a bigger, bolder celebration of art, cosplay, music and creativity. The festival lands at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on 11 and 12 July 2026, taking over three halls for a weekend built entirely around creators and the communities that love them.

Here’s a taste of the energy from last year’s edition, straight from the official AFA channel:

AFA Creators Super Fest Singapore 2025 Day 2 Highlights — via AFA – Anime Festival Asia on YouTube

What is Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026?

Born out of Anime Festival Asia’s Creators Hub, Creators Super Fest has grown into Southeast Asia’s own creative playground — a place where independent artists, cosplayers, musicians and crafters get a real stage. This year’s layout has been refreshed across three halls, with the main stage and key zones repositioned to make the experience smoother for everyone (full floor plan to come closer to the date).

SOZO founder and festival director Shawn Chin frames the mission simply, calling creators “the lifeblood of every creative ecosystem” in the festival’s media release. The Singapore Tourism Board is on board too: Guo Teyi, Director of Leisure Events, pointed to “Singapore’s growing role as a regional hub for creative communities” as exactly why events like this matter on the local calendar.

Four creative zones to explore

CSF26 is organised around four key zones, each with its own flavour:

Fans browsing artist and indie merchandise booths at the Creators Hub marketplace at AFA Creators Super Fest

  • Creators Hub — the beating heart of the festival, where illustrators, designers and indie brands sell exclusive art and one-of-a-kind merch, and fans get to meet the makers face to face.
  • Cosplay Hub — a dedicated showcase where star cosplayers take the spotlight. Meet your favourite talents up close, grab their merch, and soak up the community vibe.
  • Creators Lab — an expanded line-up of workshops, panels and interactive sessions aimed at aspiring artists and creative entrepreneurs. SOZO is still accepting speakers, so this is your shot if you’ve got skills to share.
  • Super Akiba Stage — live music, talk shows and live-drawing sessions running throughout the weekend.

First wave of special guest creators

The opening line-up brings four guests from Japan — three musicians for the Super Akiba Stage and one of the festival’s most-loved illustrators.

Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 guest singer Kohana Lam key visual

Kohana Lam made her name on YouTube with cover videos sung “while crying” and with a lot of emotion — a channel that has now passed 680,000 subscribers. Her cover of “Kokoronashi” alone has racked up more than 15 million views, and she’s since lent her vocals to anime ending themes for The Dangers in My Heart and My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me!

Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 guest singer-songwriter Rie fu key visual

Rie fu is a singer-songwriter, painter and translator whose music reached fans across Asia through anime — she performed “Life is Like a Boat” from Bleach and “Tsukiakari” from Darker than Black. A Central Saint Martins fine-art graduate, she paints much of her own release artwork, and after relocating to Singapore in 2025 she’s a genuine local-and-international crossover act.

Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 guest pianist Yomii key visual

Yomii is a pianist and composer with a rhythm-gaming background, which shows in his razor-sharp timing. His performances and arrangements — turning familiar game and anime themes into emotional piano pieces — have pulled in over 700 million views on YouTube.

Creators Super Fest Singapore 2026 guest illustrator lack key visual

lack is the freelance illustrator behind TCG art and character designs for the likes of Fate/Grand Order and Touken Ranbu ONLINE, plus VTuber designs including Shiranui Flare, Makaino Ririmu, Lain Paterson and Aruran. For #CSF26, lack has drawn a brand-new version of the festival’s official mascot, Seika — the same artist behind this year’s striking key visual.

A pathway to Japan: Asia Creators Cross

Here’s the part local creators will want to read twice. Through Asia Creators Cross — a partnership between Japan’s Dwango and SOZO — selected Creators Hub and Cosplay Hub participants stand a chance to be picked for Nico Nico Chokaigi 2027 in Japan, one of the biggest creator festivals in the world. Selection is subject to eligibility, application procedures and booth guidelines (other T&Cs apply), but it’s a rare, concrete route from a Suntec booth to a stage in Japan.

Tickets and how to go

Aozora Market Returns to Suntec This July — Free-Entry ACG Fair

Singapore’s ACG event calendar keeps filling up for mid-year, and the latest addition is one to bookmark: Aozora Market is coming to Suntec Convention Hall 405 on 18–19 July 2026, with free entry and a full artist alley for anime, cosplay, and gaming fans.

What Is Aozora Market?

Aozora Market is an artist-focused anime, cosplay, and gaming (ACG) convention created by the team behind Hanami Market. The concept centres on the Artist Alley — a floor space where illustrators, crafters, and doujin creators set up tables to share original works and fandom-inspired art directly with attendees. If you’ve been to Hanami Market before, think of Aozora as the same community spirit, scaled up for a Suntec hall.

Event Details at a Glance

  • Dates: Saturday 18 July – Sunday 19 July 2026
  • Hours: 11 AM – 7 PM (both days)
  • Venue: Suntec City Convention Centre, Hall 405 (nearest MRT: Esplanade, CC3)
  • Admission: Free
  • Bag checks conducted at the door for safety

What to Expect Inside

Artist Alley is the beating heart of the fair, with illustrators, doujin creators, crafters, TCG designers, and makers sharing their work. The organisers describe it as a space where “original works, fandom-inspired creations, and the artists who bring them to life” all share the same floor — a welcome contrast to commercial-heavy expos.

Beyond the tables, there’s a Stamp Rally: collect stamps from participating booths and redeem them for exclusive prizes — a nice reason to wander the full hall rather than beelining for one or two favourite artists. There will also be a dedicated trading card games (TCG) section connecting fan-made card creators with players.

Collaborations with cosplayers and brands are still being confirmed, so expect more announcements from the organisers in the weeks ahead. Follow @hanamimkt on Instagram for the latest updates.

Last Words

Free entry, Suntec, a proper artist alley, and a stamp rally — Aozora Market has all the ingredients for a strong mid-July weekend. If you enjoyed Hanami Market or you’re a regular at local ACG fairs, this is one to put in the calendar now. We’ll update this post when the full exhibitor line-up and any guest announcements drop. Check our Events section for the rest of the Singapore gaming and anime calendar.

Creators Super Fest 2026 at Suntec Singapore: 11-12 July

Singapore’s mid-year pop-culture calendar just got a must-attend date. AFA Creators Super Fest 2026 (CSF26) is returning to Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on 11–12 July 2026, bringing two days of anime art, cosplay, live music, and hands-on creative workshops to Hall 403–405.

What Is Creators Super Fest?

Running under the banner of “CREATE. SHARE. PLAY.”, CSF is Anime Festival Asia (AFA)‘s annual community-driven festival built specifically for the ACG (Anime, Comics, Games) creator scene. Unlike a standard convention, it puts the spotlight squarely on the talent behind the art — illustrators, cosplayers, crafters, and performers from Singapore and across the region come together to showcase work, run workshops, and meet fans face-to-face. This year’s edition takes over Hall 403–405, a larger footprint than previous years, with a revamped floor plan designed for easier navigation.

Guest Illustrator: lack

Headlining the art side is lack (stylised in lowercase), a renowned Japanese illustrator whose career on Pixiv stretches over a decade. Fate/Grand Order fans will recognise his distinctive style from the Servant designs he contributed to FGO, including Okada Izou, Sétanta, Andromeda, and Toudou Heisuke. Meeting him at an autograph or talk session is the kind of opportunity that rarely makes it to Singapore — the full programme for his appearance will be confirmed closer to July.

Super Akiba Stage: Rie-fu, Kohana Lam and Yomii

The live music lineup is equally strong. Three artists who will resonate deeply with anime fans are confirmed for the Super Akiba Stage:

  • Rie-fu — the Tokyo-born singer-songwriter whose bilingual track “Life is Like a Boat” became the beloved ending theme for early-run Bleach in 2004. She also contributed music to Gundam SEED Destiny, Darker than Black, and D.Gray-man. Catching her perform live in Singapore is a rare chance.
  • Kohana Lam — the avex trax singer-songwriter behind anime themes for The Dangers in My Heart and My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me!, with her 2026 album Time With You (out February) already turning heads across the region.
  • Yomii — the Japanese indie-pop artist bringing her atmospheric sound to the CSF stage.

What to Expect on the Floor

Creators Super Fest 2026 floor plan Hall 403-405 Suntec Singapore
Image courtesy of Creators Super Fest

The CSF26 floor spans Hall 403–405 and is divided into dedicated zones across the two days:

  • Creators Hub — browse exclusive artwork, prints, and merchandise directly from premium and standard artist tables, with more names being announced in the weeks ahead.
  • Cosplay Hub — more than 30 confirmed cosplayers will be on the floor over both days, available for photos and interaction.
  • Cosplay Singles Competition — competitors go head-to-head for cash prizes in one of the event’s most-watched highlights.
  • Creators Lab — live workshops where you can watch and participate as artists demonstrate their process in real time.
  • Fashion Hub — ACG-inspired fashion from regional designers and creators.
  • Super Akiba Stage — the main performance stage for the music acts above and additional programming to be announced.

Getting There

Suntec Singapore is one of the most accessible convention venues in the city. Take the Circle Line to Esplanade MRT (CC3) — Hall 403–405 is roughly a 3-minute, 248-metre walk from the station exit. Event hours are 9am–6pm on both Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July.

Tickets

CSF26 is a ticketed event. Ticket prices and sale dates have not yet been announced — follow the official Creators Super Fest website and @creatorssuperfest on Instagram for updates. Artist meet-and-greet slots and special passes have sold out fast in past editions, so keep an eye on announcements the moment ticketing opens.
