Apex Legends × Cyberpunk Event Starts 14 July — Night City, Edgerunners Skins and Skippy

Night City is landing in the Outlands on 14 July 2026. Respawn Entertainment and CD PROJEKT RED have announced the Apex Legends × Cyberpunk Event, bringing a full Night City makeover to E-District, two new Cyberware gameplay mods, and a roster of skins pulled straight from Cyberpunk 2077 and the beloved Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. The event runs from 14 July to 4 August 2026 and is free to play on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Night City Takes Over E-District on 14 July

E-District — the neon-soaked map introduced to Apex Legends last year — is getting a full Night City facelift for the event. Towering Arasaka billboards, holographic koi drifting through the skyline, glitched-out corpo signage and the Wildcard game mode label plastered across the skyline all point to one thing: Night City is the vibe, and it lands exactly as described in the official Cyberpunk announcement. The themed redesign applies specifically to E-District during the event window.

Cyberware Mods Change the Way You Fight

The headline gameplay addition is the Wildcard limited-time mode, which drops two Cyberware mods onto every player:

  • Sandevistan — directional dashes that also recharge your shields. You can chain two dashes before touching the ground, making it ideal for closing gaps or breaking out of a tight corner. Edgerunners fans will recognise this one immediately.
  • Blackwall Breach — lets you phase into the Net to reposition, then release an EMP burst that damages shields and reveals enemy locations. A repositioning tool and a scanner in one.

Overuse your cyberware and you risk Cyberpsychosis — you transform into a melee-only berserker with no weapons or abilities, but boosted speed and damage. It’s a risk-reward layer that adds genuine tension to fights and keeps the Cyberpunk fiction intact in a way that feels earned rather than cosmetic.

Eight Legend Skins from Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners

The collab brings eight Legend skins, each mapping a Cyberpunk character to an Apex Legend. The full set of six confirmed skins shown in the official press kit pairs the Edgerunners crew with the Apex roster:

  • David Martinez (Edgerunners) → Sparrow skin
  • Lucy (Edgerunners) → Aksel skin
  • Rebecca (Edgerunners) → Rampart skin
  • Royce (Cyberpunk 2077) → Gibraltar skin
  • Lizzy Wizzy (Cyberpunk 2077) → Ash skin
  • Panam (Cyberpunk 2077) → Loba skin

Lifeline and Crypto also receive skins from the Cyberpunk universe, bringing the Legend skin count to eight. Each skin is priced at 2,150 Apex Coins in the in-game store. Eight weapon skins — for the Wingman, Charge Rifle, Mastiff, L-STAR, P2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber — are also part of the Cyberpunk Collection available from 14 July to 18 August.

Skippy Returns as a Mythic Alternator

For Cyberpunk 2077 veterans, the standout cosmetic is the return of Skippy — this time as a Mythic Alternator. The AI-talking gun appears with its two signature modes: Puppy Loving Pacifist and Stone Cold Killer, and it will comment on your gameplay just as it did in Night City. If you played Cyberpunk 2077 and kept Skippy, you know why this one lands differently than a generic weapon skin.

Free Rewards and How to Earn Them

Not everything costs Apex Coins. During the event, completing challenges earns you Eddies — the in-universe Night City currency — which can be spent in the event Reward Shop. Free earnable items include an Epic Valkyrie skin (Arasaka Flight Protocol) and an Epic Mirage skin (Kang-Tao Specter), plus Battle Pass stars and additional cosmetics. The Reward Shop runs the duration of the event, so there’s no rush to grind it all in a single session.

Youtooz is also releasing limited-edition Nessie plushies in Lucy and Rebecca variants, available for pre-order from 15 July to 18 August for the collectors in the room.

Night City doesn’t forget you — and Studio Trigger isn’t done with it either. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is officially coming to Netflix this Fall 2026, and the second teaser trailer that dropped on 29 June makes one thing clear: this is a wilder, darker ride than the first.

A Standalone Story, Not a Sequel

This is not a continuation of David Martinez’s story. CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger have been clear that Edgerunners 2 is a brand-new, self-contained 10-episode arc with a fresh cast of characters. The tagline says it all: “New Legends. Same Night City.” You don’t need to have seen Season 1 to jump in — though if you have, you’ll know exactly how unforgiving Night City can be.

The official description frames it as “a story of family, obsession, legacy — and how your lens reflects the stories of the people around you.” The trailer backs that up: a bone-deep grunge aesthetic, bursts of cyberware violence, and Rico Nasty’s “You Can’t Run From Me” driving it all forward.

Who’s Running Night City This Time?

Four characters anchor the new story, each coming at Night City from a completely different angle:

Weak (voiced by Kentaro Tone) is a washed-up edgerunner legend — once the best, now living without chrome and searching for a sense of purpose in a city that has long since moved on without him.

D (voiced by Koki Uchiyama) is a deadly nomad on a path of revenge for his clan, only to find himself knee-deep in corpo secrets that were never meant to surface.

Roman (voiced by Momoka Terasawa) is a young cinephile hunting for stories in a city that replaced cinema with braindances — pointing a lens at the chaos around him instead of running from it.

Talia (voiced by Akari Kito) grew up corpo but got hardened by time running with the Maelstrom gang — someone who knows how to survive in a city that chews people up.

The Creative Team Bringing It Back

The original Edgerunners was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and his absence here is worth noting — but the team stepping in is no less impressive. Kai Ikarashi takes the director’s chair; he previously worked as an animator on Trigger projects including Little Witch Academia and SSSS.Gridman, and this marks his biggest solo directing credit yet.

Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner and lead story writer, joined by Masahiko Otsuka. Ichigo Kanno handles character design, with colour supervision by Yukiko Kakita. Studio Trigger is back in the animation seat.

An Anime Expo 2026 panel on 3 July will include the first episode screening for attendees and is expected to surface new details — including, possibly, a specific premiere date within the fall window.

Studio TRIGGER and CD Projekt Red have been steadily drip-feeding details about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, introducing the first member of the new crew and confirming that a full first-look trailer lands on 29 June 2026 — two days from now. If the original Edgerunners left a hole in your chest that no amount of Netrunner builds could fill, the wait is almost over.

Night City Has a New Crew — Meet Weak Kingsley

The official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners X account dropped the first character card: Weak Kingsley, a large, dishevelled man introduced with the tagline “Heavy is a crown. Heavier is the chrome.” The post formatted the reveal as a crew roster update — [CREW UPDATE] // +1 EDGERUNNER // WEAK KINGSLEY — with three additional silhouettes still blacked out alongside him, teasing that more reveals are on the way before the trailer goes live.

Promotional art unveiled at Annecy also gives us a second hint: a young, blonde character holding a camcorder appears in the key visual, and the internet has wasted no time speculating that she is the new lead. Netflix has not confirmed her name or role yet, so consider it a strong rumour until June 29.

What We Know About Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Much of the original creative team is back. Kai Ikarashi — who directed Episode 6, “Girl on Fire”, arguably the most gut-wrenching hour of the first season — steps up as series director. Kanno Ichigo returns as lead character designer, so expect that same hyper-kinetic, chrome-soaked aesthetic. Story is handled by returning Bartosz Sztybor, with screenplay by Masahiko Otsuka.

The new season will be a completely standalone ten-episode story set in Night City — David Martinez, Lucy, and Rebecca will not be returning as central characters. The official description frames it as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge,” which, knowing TRIGGER, probably means we are in for another emotional demolition job. No official release window has been confirmed, though industry watchers broadly expect a 2027 Netflix premiere.

The Dream Not Dreamed: Night City Arrives in Solaris-3

Version 3.4 introduces Somnoire: Night City, a limited-time collaboration zone built from Lucy Kushinada’s memories. It captures the Cyberpunk aesthetic faithfully — neon-drenched streets, the Cherry Blossom Market, and Arasaka Headquarters are all explorable. As Kuro Games describes it, it is a place where “dreams overlap with reality, where violence and conflict keep fortunes flowing.”

The crossover, developed in partnership with CD PROJEKT RED, weaves the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners story into Solaris-3 through an episodic quest chain called “At Dream’s Edge”. Startorch Academy joins forces with the Edgerunners to battle Nightmare Tacet Discords — and yes, that includes a boss fight against a Nightmare version of Adam Smasher.

Meet Lucy and Rebecca: Two New 5-Star Resonators

Two Cyberpunk: Edgerunners characters debut as 5-star Resonators with this update:

  • Lucy — Spectro element, Pistol type. Her signature weapon is the Spectral Trigger. Lucy is available on a limited Convene banner running until 9 July 2026.
  • Rebecca — Electro element, Pistol type. Armed with the Skull Thrasher, Rebecca is the value pick of the patch: she is completely free for all players at Union Level 10 or above, claimable through the Instant Flashlight event.

David Martinez briefly appears in the version trailer. Kuro Games has not confirmed his exact in-game role as of launch.

How to Claim Your Free Rebecca
