Seven years after Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, The Pokémon Company has just dealt its next hand. Pokémon: Wild Card — an all-new anime feature film — was unveiled at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, and it is heading to cinemas starting in 2027.

A Pokémon Movie Like No Other

Wild Card marks a sharp pivot from three decades of creature-catching road trips. Instead of a young trainer battling gym leaders and chasing legendary Pokémon, the story centres on a competitive Pokémon Trading Card Game player striving to become a champion — with the Ghost-type Mimikyu as their mysterious partner. As the official tagline puts it: “When the time comes to put their cards on the table, will they have what it takes to achieve their goals?”

The TCG angle is a first for the main Pokémon film franchise, and the 39-second teaser leans into a notably darker, more urban visual tone than its predecessors. The protagonist wears a Mimikyu-inspired hoodie and is shown hunched over a card table in a neon-lit cityscape, cards fanned in hand — while an ethereal Mimikyu hovers above.

CloverWorks Takes on the Challenge

Animation production is handled by CloverWorks — the studio behind Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock!, and My Dress-Up Darling — under the direction of Katsuhiko Kitada, who previously worked on Attack on Titan. Character designs are by Akemi Hayashi, with Story inc. producing. The combination of CloverWorks’ track record with emotionally grounded, character-driven stories and Kitada’s experience with intense drama makes Wild Card one of the most intriguing Pokémon productions in years.

Mimikyu Steps Into the Spotlight

Mimikyu has long been a fan favourite — the Ghost/Fairy-type who disguises itself as Pikachu out of a desperate wish to be loved is practically a franchise icon at this point. Giving it the starring partner role in a feature film is a choice that will resonate hard with the fandom. The teaser keeps its true form ambiguous, showing only glimpses: a glowing spectral silhouette above the city, and a brief close-up of something distinctly unsettling beneath that familiar costume.

Big News for Singapore’s Pokémon TCG Scene

For Singapore fans, Wild Card lands at a particularly charged moment. The city-state is already gearing up to host the 2027 Pokémon World Championships at Singapore EXPO in August — the first time the global championship comes to Southeast Asia. A film built around competitive TCG play is perfectly timed to ride that wave.

Singapore also has a thriving Play! Pokémon community, with regional qualifiers running throughout the year as part of the 2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series. Whether Wild Card gets a simultaneous Singapore cinema release alongside its 2027 debut has not been confirmed — but given the franchise’s theatrical track record here (Secrets of the Jungle screened locally in 2021), it is reasonable to expect one. The Team Rocket’s Ambition expansion is live right now — and it brings Giovanni’s legendary bird trio, nefarious Trainer cards, and over a month’s worth of events packed with free rewards for Singapore players who are still grinding the Pocket app.

This is the B4a expansion — a themed booster pack rather than a full-series update — which means you pull from a single, tightly curated pool of cards all centred on Team Rocket. The three headline ex Pokémon are the Legendary Birds reimagined with the iconic R-mark branding: Team Rocket’s Articuno ex, Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex, and Team Rocket’s Moltres ex. Alongside them you’ll find Team Rocket’s Mewtwo, Lapras, Houndour, Arbok, Persian, Marowak, and Tinkaton — plus Trainer cards that lean hard into Team Rocket’s scheming identity.

The Three Legendary Bird ex Cards, Broken Down

These are the pulls you’ll be chasing, and each one has a distinct role in the app’s battle meta:

  • Team Rocket’s Articuno ex (Water, 130 HP) — Ice Wing hits for 40; Hailstorm hits for 130 and splashes 20 damage to every benched Pokémon your opponent controls. At a glance this is a bench-punishing water pivot that rewards wide setups.
  • Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex (Lightning, 120 HP) — Electro Ball for 40, then Thunderclaw for 90 and an extra 30 to a benched Pokémon that already has damage on it. Stack chips from Hailstorm first, then clean up with Thunderclaw — the two cards play well together.
  • Team Rocket’s Moltres ex (Fire, 130 HP) — Heat Charged is a coin-flip Energy accelerator; Netherwing hits for 130 at the cost of discarding an Energy. Fire decks that have struggled with Energy recovery may find Moltres the glue they needed.

Other Team Rocket Cards and Trainers to Know

Beyond the ex cards, Team Rocket’s Lapras is an early standout — its Ruthless Whirlpool attack does 40+ damage, bumping by another 40 if this Pokémon has more Energy attached than the opponent’s Active. In slower control builds, that conditional damage spike is very real. Team Rocket’s Mewtwo is the Psychic wild card to watch, and Team Rocket’s Tinkaton offers an unusual Steel-type entry point for the faction.

On the Trainer card side, Team Rocket’s Boss should see play as a disruption pivot — the card lets you target a specific benched Pokémon, pulling it to the Active position whether your opponent likes it or not. Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine and Team Rocket’s Master Plan round out the suite, both building on the theme of resource denial and tempo denial that Team Rocket decks have classically embraced. New Team Rocket’s Shady Tickets will also appear as special event rewards — they’re tied to mystery redemptions, so hang on to them.

A Month of Events and Free Rewards

Events tied to Team Rocket’s Ambition run through 28 September 2026, so there’s plenty of time to top up your collection even if you can’t grind daily:

  • Battle missions reward Team Rocket’s Shady Tickets — keep an eye on what they unlock as the event unfolds.
  • Solo battles let you farm B-series vol. 12 promo packs, which include a promo version of Team Rocket’s Lapras.
  • Wonder Pick event features Fennekin and Meowstic promo cards.
  • The Great Puzzle Challenge runs on a dedicated campaign site — solve the web-based puzzles to earn serial codes that drop pack hourglasses directly into your account.
  • From 1 September, new covers and backdrops featuring Giovanni and Persian become available — the noir-style artwork is worth collecting even if you just play casually.

2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series Starts 1 September — Singapore Registration Is Open Now

Singapore Pokémon players, a new competitive season is here. The Pokémon Company has officially launched the 2026–27 Pokémon Asia Championship Series alongside a new initiative called Pokémon Game On!, and registration for two of the four league tiers is open right now.

What Is the Pokémon Asia Championship Series?

The Pokémon Asia Championship Series (PACS) is the official regional competitive circuit for seven participating regions: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The season runs from 1 September 2026, with winners from each region eventually advancing toward the annual Pokémon World Championships.

This year’s series comes with a revamped brand: Pokémon Game On! — an initiative designed to make competitive play accessible to players of every skill level. The new match-start call replaces the existing format; players at participating events will now hear ‘Game On!’ to begin each round.

Four Competition Tiers

The 2026–27 PACS uses a four-tier structure:

  • Great Ball League — entry-level events designed for newcomers and casual players. Registration is open now.
  • Ultra Ball League — mid-tier competition for developing players.
  • Premier Ball League — open competitive events where performance points are tracked toward Master Ball. TCG category registration is open now.
  • Master Ball League — the top tier, featuring the region’s most competitive players. Qualification is required.

Each tier runs two competitive categories: the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and the Video Game Competition (VGC) format, which uses Pokémon Champions as the battle platform.

How Singapore Players Can Join

Head to the Singapore PACS page at trainers-asia.portal-pokemon.com/sg/2026-27 to register. Premier Ball League TCG registration and Great Ball League registration are listed as active there now. The official Singapore Pokémon TCG Trainers site at asia.pokemon-card.com/sg also shows the current event calendar and participating gym locations.

A special promo card will be distributed at participating Pokémon TCG Gyms starting 1 September, while supplies last — worth checking in ahead of the season opener if you play the card game.

Pokémon TCG First Partner Series 3 Out Now — All 27 Starters Finally Collected

The wait is over — Pokémon TCG: First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 is out today, 7 August 2026, and it brings the 30th Anniversary trilogy to a close. After Series 1 (Kanto, Sinnoh, Alola) in March and Series 2 (Johto, Unova, Galar) earlier this year, the final wave covers the three regions fans have been waiting for: Hoenn, Kalos and Paldea. All 27 starter Pokémon are now represented across the collection, each immortalised as an Illustration Rare promo card.

What Is the First Partner Illustration Collection?

Each box in the First Partner range focuses on one region’s trio of starter Pokémon. Inside every box you get:

  • 1 special promo booster pack containing 3 of 9 Illustration Rare promo cards (randomly drawn from that region’s three starter lines)
  • 2 regular Pokémon TCG booster packs
  • 1 sticker sheet featuring first-partner Pokémon

It’s a tidy package for both collectors and players — the promo cards are the star of the show, and the regular boosters add a little lottery excitement on top.

Because each promo pack gives you 3 of the 9 possible starters at random (sorted by region within the box you buy), completionists will likely want all three regional boxes to maximise their chances at the full panoramic sets. The total MSRP is USD $14.99 per collection box — note this is the US price, and Singapore retailers may price slightly higher. For context, Series 1 and 2 were similarly priced at the same USD MSRP and were readily available at local game and TCG shops across Singapore.

Series 3 is available globally from today at Pokémon Center and wherever Pokémon TCG products are sold. In Singapore, major game retailers and TCG specialty shops should be stocking this alongside the wave of 30th Anniversary releases — worth calling ahead or checking online listings before heading out, as the series has seen strong demand at launch in previous waves.

Mark your calendars — Randamu World 2026 is arriving at Suntec Convention Centre on 15-16 August, and admission is completely free. With 400+ creators and artists, 125+ trading card game vendors, and Pokémon TCG illustrator Ryuta Fuse confirmed as a special guest, this is shaping up to be one of the unmissable ACG events of the August school holidays.

What Is Randamu World 2026?

Randamu World is the flagship annual event from Randamu, Singapore’s creator-first anime, comics and games movement. The event functions as part artist market, part TCG trading floor and part cosplay hub — and for 2026 it’s scaling up to fill Halls 401-402 at Suntec Convention Centre, giving creators and collectors a serious amount of floor space to work with.

Over 400 creators and artists will be showcasing and selling original merchandise: fanart prints, handmade accessories, standees, keychains and limited-run collectibles that aren’t available in any retail store. Running alongside the creator hall, more than 125 TCG vendors from local and overseas markets will be set up for buying, selling and trading — Pokémon cards front and centre.

Pokémon Guest Artist Ryuta Fuse Lands in Singapore

The headline draw for card collectors is Pokémon TCG illustrator Ryuta Fuse, confirmed as a special guest for Randamu World 2026. If you’ve spent any time flipping through recent Scarlet & Violet sets, you’ll know his work: an immersive, highly detailed style that makes each card feel like a still from a prestige anime film. Fuse has been illustrating cards since the Cosmic Eclipse era and has now contributed to over 112 cards across the Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet generations — many of them Full Art and Special Illustration Rare pulls that rank among the most sought-after in any set.

The 2026 Pokémon World Championships arrive in San Francisco from 28 to 30 August — and for the first time ever, they run alongside PokémonXP, an all-new official fan convention celebrating 30 years of the franchise. Whether you are a competitive player tracking your region’s qualifiers or a fan who simply wants to watch the world’s best trainers battle it out, here is everything Singapore and Southeast Asia fans need to know.

Four Formats, One Stage — Including Pokémon Champions’ Debut

This year’s championship features four competitive formats. The big addition is Pokémon Champions, The Pokémon Company’s new video game title, which makes its debut at Worlds 2026 for the VGC format. Alongside it, the Pokémon Trading Card Game runs on the 2026-27 Standard format, Pokémon GO uses Great League rules, and Pokémon UNITE brings team-based MOBA competition to the stage.

Preliminary rounds and Swiss matches take place at the Moscone Center on 28–29 August. Championship Sunday on 30 August is the Grand Finals — and for the first time at Worlds, the VGC and TCG finals move to the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, for a proper arena experience.

Southeast Asia at Pokémon Worlds 2026

Southeast Asia is well represented this year. In Pokémon UNITE, the Singapore and Malaysia combined qualifier sent TeamMYS (Malaysia) through to San Francisco. Other SEA teams making the trip include Team Nemesis from the Philippines, Strong Basketball Player 1 from Thailand, and ONIC Rise and Tryhard from Indonesia.

For Pokémon GO, Singapore players competed through the Pokémon GO Asia Championship Series 2026 Great League qualifier, which covered Singapore as part of the APAC bracket; top-ranked players from that series earned a Day 1 spot at Worlds. For VGC and TCG, SEA players earned Championship Points through sanctioned live tournaments across the 2025-26 season to qualify individually.

PokémonXP — Pokémon’s First Fan Convention Alongside Worlds

New this year: PokémonXP, an official fan event running concurrently with the championships at the Moscone Center and the adjacent Yerba Buena Gardens. It is Pokémon’s first dedicated convention experience tied to a World Championships, and it is open to fans who are not competing — you do not need to be a qualified competitor to attend.

The programming spans panels with TCG illustrators and franchise creators, a hands-on Workshop Zone where attendees can make their own Pokémon crafts, a PlayLab for beginners, an Autograph Room with special guests, and cosplay showcases. There is also a pop-up Pokémon Center store selling exclusive merchandise and the Worlds 2026 Champion Line.

Qualified competitors receive a Welcome Kit on-site that includes a San Francisco 2026 backpack, a Crown Pikachu plush, a lanyard, a Competitor cap, a Pokémon TCG deck box, a playmat, and a t-shirt. The kit also includes an exclusive promo TCG card: Paradise Resort, a Trainer Stadium card illustrated by Naoki Saito that reduces Psyduck retreat costs — and already looks like a must-have collectible.

How to Watch Pokémon Worlds 2026 Free from Singapore

All four formats are streamed live and free. Tune in at the Play! Pokémon Broadcast Hub, on the Official Pokémon YouTube channel, or on the Official Pokémon Twitch channel. A Japanese-language stream also runs on YouTube and Niconico.

Be prepared for late nights: preliminary rounds begin at roughly 9am PDT (midnight–1am SGT) each day, with matches running through to late afternoon PDT. Championship Sunday on 30 August starts with Pokémon UNITE, followed by Pokémon GO, the TCG final, and finally the VGC Grand Final — the last match could run into the early hours of 31 August SGT.

The upside: Twitch Drops are active. Watch via a linked Twitch account during the live streams to earn a battle-ready Blastoise in Pokémon Champions, special illustration rare cards in Pokémon TCG Live, and more in-game rewards. Details are on the Pokémon Championship Series site.

Heading to San Francisco? The pre-event Pokémon Worlds Night at Oracle Park with the San Francisco Giants takes place on 27 August — the night before Worlds opens — with a limited Pikachu jersey giveaway and a post-game drone show. Ticket info is available through the Giants’ official site.

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Ruler of the Skies expansion — officially launching 30 July 2026 at 9 AM SGT — finally brings Mega Rayquaza ex to the digital card game, alongside new Mega Evolution heavyweights, a deck-sharing overhaul, and upgraded pull rates that reward dedicated collectors.

Mega Rayquaza ex and Every New Card Confirmed So Far

As we covered when Mega Rayquaza’s digital debut was first announced, this expansion is built around the Sky High Pokémon’s Mega Evolution arriving in Pocket for the first time. Here is what has been officially confirmed for Ruler of the Skies:

  • Mega Rayquaza ex — 180 HP. Mega Burst attack requires discarding all Fire and Lightning Energy attached, dealing 50 damage per Energy discarded. No weakness. One-Energy retreat cost. High risk, enormous ceiling.
  • Mega Metagross ex and Mega Gallade ex — Mega ex cards joining the Psychic and Fighting pools.
  • Swanna ex and Dragonair — confirmed non-Mega entries.
  • Mega Houndoom ex — available through a limited-time Drop Event after launch.
  • Mega Lucario ex and Hitmonchan ex — obtainable via elite deck missions.

Share Your Deck in Seconds — New QoL Feature

The expansion also ships a long-requested quality-of-life feature: deck sharing via 2D pattern codes. Build a winning deck, generate a code, and your friends or followers can import it directly — no manual card-by-card recreation. For Singapore’s growing competitive Pocket community, this makes it far easier to exchange meta builds and tournament-ready lists without third-party tools.

Alongside deck sharing, Ruler of the Skies introduces a new pull guarantee: when certain conditions are met while opening a booster pack, your next pack from the same expansion will contain a guaranteed ♦♦♦♦ (four-diamond) or higher rarity card. This is separate from the existing Wonder Pick system and gives collectors a meaningful safety net when chasing Mega ex pulls.

A third smaller-but-welcome change: if a card belongs to multiple booster sets, obtaining it now registers it across all corresponding packs in the card dex automatically — no duplicate hunting required.

Events and Cosmetics: What’s on After Launch

If you’ve been tracking the Mega Evolution TCG series, this weekend is the moment to mark on your calendar. Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black, the fifth set in the Mega Evolution run, begins prerelease events at participating Play! Pokémon retailers this Friday, July 4 — two weeks ahead of its full global launch on July 17, 2026.

What Is Pitch Black

Pitch Black is a dark-themed expansion built around the Mega Dimension content from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and the set name is not subtle about its direction. Where earlier Mega Evolution sets spread the spotlight across multiple type identities, ME5 leans hard into shadow and sinister aesthetics — Mega Darkrai ex is the face of this expansion, and everything from the booster pack art to the colour palette reflects that.

The set ships with over 115 cards in total, including more than 35 cards with special illustration variants and over 20 Trainer cards. Its Japanese counterpart, Abyss Eye (アビスアイ), launched in Japan on May 22, which means Japanese players have had about six weeks of competitive data — useful context if you’re heading to a prerelease tournament this weekend.

The Four Headlining Mega ex

Four Mega ex Pokémon anchor the expansion’s product line, each with its own booster pack artwork:

  • Mega Darkrai ex — the face of the set, and from Japanese Abyss Eye coverage, it arrives with 280 HP and a hit-hard moveset that fits the expansion’s aggressive tone
  • Mega Zeraora ex — a Lightning-type Mythical that pairs with Darkrai’s Darkness for what should be an interesting type-coverage combination in Standard
  • Mega Chandelure ex — the Ghost/Fire Pokémon from Unova gets the Mega treatment, with the eerie candle aesthetic fitting perfectly in a Pitch Black set
  • Mega Excadrill ex — the Ground/Steel Pokémon rounds out the headliners, giving the set broader type coverage

Beyond the main four, Bulbapedia’s set list also confirms Mega Slowbro ex, Wailord ex, and Morpeko ex among the expansion’s notable cards.

Products at Launch

The standard product lineup for Pitch Black includes individual booster packs (10 cards + 1 Basic Energy + 1 Pokémon TCG Live code), six-pack Booster Bundles, and a 36-pack Booster Display Box. Pokémon Center also has an Elite Trainer Box exclusive. For this weekend’s prerelease events, participating stores will be selling the Build & Battle Box early — as confirmed by Pokémon.com — which gives players a sealed pool to build from for the event format.

Dates for Singapore Players

Prerelease events: July 4–6 at participating Play! Pokémon retailers. Check with your local store to confirm they’re running events this weekend — not every retailer holds prereleases, but Singapore’s Play! Pokémon community is well-represented across the island.

Digital play: July 16 in Pokémon TCG Live — the day before physical launch.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: Everyday Wonders Drops Now With 100+ New Cards

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s newest themed booster pack, Everyday Wonders, is live right now on iOS and Android — and it brings one of the most charming card sets the game has ever released. With over 100 new cards built around a picnic-and-sunshine theme, it is a deliberate contrast to the Legendary-heavy sets that dominated the past year.

What Is the Everyday Wonders Expansion?

Everyday Wonders (set code B3b) is the third themed booster pack for Pokémon TCG Pocket, the free-to-play digital card game available on iOS and Android worldwide. The set centres on a cosy, slice-of-life picnic theme: Pikachu posing on a tree stump in a flower-filled garden, Snorlax dozing in a sunlit meadow, Piplup gliding across a frozen lake. The five headline Pokémon are Pikachu, Piplup, Sylveon, Snorlax and Greedent.

According to the official Pokémon announcement, the expansion adds over 100 cards to the game, including a Mega Diancie ex making its debut in Pokémon TCG Pocket — the high-rarity chase pull collectors will be hunting from day one. Everyday Wonders packs join the standard two-per-day free rotation alongside existing sets immediately.

Key Cards Worth Pulling

The top targets are the full-art versions of the set’s five featured Pokémon. The Pikachu full art, illustrated by Yoshimi Miyoshi, places the series mascot on a wooden stage in a garden bursting with colour — the kind of card that sits in a sleeve and never gets played. Piplup‘s full art by HYOGONOSUKE captures the Water-type mid-Bubble Beam across a glittering ice rink, while Sylveon‘s full art by booota sets the Fairy-type in a dreamy kawaii bedroom lined with plush toys.

The competitive standout is Snorlax with the Massive Body Ability: while in the Active Spot, opponents cannot play Stadium cards from their hand. That is a genuine disruption tool in the current pocket meta where Stadiums swing damage calculations. Combined with 130 HP and a 70-damage Mega Punch, this Snorlax is a legitimate wall — illustrated here by veteran Pokémon card artist Atsuko Nishida.
