Pokémon GO Twilight Trails Is Live — Maschiff, Mega Staraptor, and Dynamax Uxie Debut This Season

Pokémon GO’s Season 24 has officially begun. Twilight Trails went live today, 8 September 2026, at 10:00 AM local time — and it runs all the way to 1 December 2026, making it one of the longer seasons in the game’s now decade-long history. It’s a packed three months, with Paldean newcomers, two Mega Evolution debuts, and a Dynamax Max Battle Day that Singapore and Asia-Pacific trainers will want to circle on the calendar.

Maschiff and Mabosstiff Make Their Pokémon GO Debut

The season’s headline new arrivals are Maschiff and its evolved form Mabosstiff — the rugged Dark-type bulldog duo from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Paldea region. They’re the first wave of Paldean Pokémon confirmed for this season, with Niantic noting that more Paldea-region species will be making their debuts as Twilight Trails unfolds. Maschiff can be caught in the wild during the Mega Squads event running until 14 September, which is also where Shiny Flamigo makes its Pokémon GO debut.

Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure Hit the Raid Gyms

Two Mega Evolution debuts are locked in for this season: Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure. Mega Staraptor gets a dedicated Mega Raid Day on 19 September, while Mega Chandelure is expected to debut during a Mega Squads raid window later in the season. Both are strong additions — Mega Staraptor packs serious Flying-type DPS, and Mega Chandelure is one of the most anticipated Ghost and Fire-type Mega Evolutions in the game. Dynamax Uxie — Asia-Pacific’s Exclusive Max Battle Day

This is the one Singapore trainers need to watch out for. The Lake Guardians — Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf — are making their Dynamax debuts in a dedicated Max Battle Day this season. As long-time GO players know, Uxie has always been the Asia-Pacific-exclusive Lake Guardian: when a Max Battle Day rolls around with Uxie featured, that’s your region’s moment. The exact date for this Max Battle Day hasn’t been announced yet, but Niantic confirmed it’s coming during Twilight Trails. Beyond the Lake Guardians, new Dynamax encounters at Power Spots include Rhyhorn, Sneasel, and Sizzlipede from the start of the season.

GO Pass Bonuses and Move Updates

The GO Pass milestone rewards for Twilight Trails offer some useful quality-of-life perks as you level up throughout the season: guaranteed Candy XL from trades at Rank 1, increased Gift sending and opening limits at Rank 25, 30-minute Daily Adventure Incense duration at Rank 50, and additional XP and Stardust from hatching Eggs at Rank 75. On top of that, Niantic is rolling out its largest move rebalancing in months — over 30 moves are being updated, and more than 40 Pokémon species are gaining access to new moves, which will shake up Battle League and raid metas heading into the November endgame.

Trainers, mark your Poké Balls — Mega Starmie makes its Pokémon GO debut this Saturday, 22 August 2026, in a limited Super Mega Raid Day. If you’ve been waiting to add the first-ever Mega evolution of the iconic Starmie to your roster, this weekend is your window.

  • Date: Saturday, 22 August 2026
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. local time
  • Format: Super Mega Raid Day — Mega Starmie appears in Mega Raids at Gyms throughout the event window
  • Bonus: Increased Mega Starmie Raid spawns, bonus Stardust for Raid victories

As a Water / Psychic dual type, Mega Starmie brings a powerful stat boost to both offensive archetypes. Winning a Mega Raid grants a temporary Mega Energy buff that powers up your own Starmie for subsequent raids and battles.

Can It Be Shiny?

Yes — Shiny Mega Starmie is available from day one. The Shiny form replaces the standard purple body with a striking deep blue, and the centre gem shifts to red. Encounter odds from Mega Raids are boosted compared to standard wild encounters, so the two-hour window is your best shot.

Best Counters for Mega Starmie Raids

Mega Starmie is weak to Electric, Grass, Ghost, Dark, and Bug type moves. Prioritise Electric and Grass attackers for maximum damage output:

  • Mega Manectric — Charge Beam / Wild Charge
  • Zekrom — Charge Beam / Fusion Bolt
  • Xurkitree — Thunder Shock / Discharge
  • Kartana — Razor Leaf / Leaf Blade
  • Mega Sceptile — Fury Cutter / Leaf Blade
  • Mega Gengar — Shadow Claw / Shadow Ball (for Ghost coverage)

A team of four to six high-level trainers with optimal counters should be able to clear the raid comfortably. Lower-level groups or less optimal lineups should aim for five or more.

Mega Starmie’s Best Moveset

If you’re planning to use your newly Mega-evolved Starmie in future raids or GO Battle League:

  • Water attacker: Waterfall + Hydro Pump
  • Psychic attacker: Confusion + Psychic

As a Mega, Starmie functions best as a raid support anchor — its Mega boost raises the power of all Water- and Psychic-type moves for your entire lobby while it’s active.

Tips for Saturday

  1. Use a Remote Raid Pass if you can’t reach a local Gym — Mega Raid Day events typically see active lobbies worldwide.
  2. Stock up on Max Revives and Max Potions before the event window opens.
  3. Activate a Lucky Egg during your runs to maximise XP from raid victories.
  4. Coordinate with local communities — Singapore’s Pokémon GO Telegram groups are usually very active on Raid Days.

Arrokuda, Barraskewda and Cramorant are diving into Pokémon GO for the first time later this month — and Mega Starmie makes its debut the same week. If you are in Singapore, you also get an exclusive Tatsugiri form that players in Europe and the Americas cannot encounter without trading.

What Is Ultra Unlock: Water Festival?

The Ultra Unlock: Water Festival is a bonus event earned by Trainers who participated in Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global. It runs from Tuesday, 18 August at 10:00 a.m. local time through Monday, 24 August at 8:00 p.m. local time — for Singapore that is 10:00 SGT to 20:00 SGT. No ticket is required to join in: anyone can catch the wild spawns and progress through the free GO Pass track. Check out our upcoming events guide for more Pokémon GO event coverage.

Three Galarian Pokémon Make Their Pokémon GO Debut

All three newcomers are from the Galar region (Pokémon Sword and Shield) and none were in the game before this event. Collect 50 Arrokuda Candy to evolve it into Barraskewda — Barraskewda does not spawn on its own.

  • Arrokuda (Water) — appears in the wild, via Field Research task rewards, and through Rainy Lure Modules. This is your main candy source for the Barraskewda evolution.
  • Barraskewda (Water) — evolve from Arrokuda; does not appear in the wild.
  • Cramorant (Flying/Water) — hatches from Eggs, available through GO Pass rewards, and can appear as a GO Battle League encounter at Rank 16 and above. Note: Cramorant is not eligible for the Competitors Cup.

What Is Spawning in the Wild

Wild encounters during the event include Psyduck in a Swim Ring costume (shiny available), Goldeen, Mareanie, Wimpod and Ducklett — with Ducklett and Dewpider both enjoying a boosted shiny rate. Rarer encounters include Feebas and Clamperl (both shiny-eligible). Wiglett appears more often near coastal and beach biomes.

Singapore Gets Tatsugiri Stretchy Form — Europe and the Americas Do Not

Tatsugiri appears in 1-Star Raids throughout the Water Festival, but its form is region-locked:

  • Asia-Pacific (including Singapore): Tatsugiri Stretchy Form
  • Europe / Middle East / Africa: Tatsugiri Curly Form
  • Americas: Tatsugiri Droopy Form

All three are the same species and share the same move pool, but the forms are cosmetically distinct and region-locked — the only way to get all three on one account is via trading. If the Stretchy Form matters to your collection, grind those 1-Star Raids while you can.

The GO Pass: Free Rewards and Paid Upgrades

Every Trainer automatically receives the GO Pass: Water Festival on 18 August at 10:00 a.m. local time — no purchase required. Earn GO Points to level up through ranks: Rank 10 unlocks 2× Catch Candy, and Rank 20 unlocks half Egg Hatch Distance. Free rewards along the track include Arrokuda encounters, a Rainy Lure Module, Golden Razz Berries and Rare Candy. All GO Pass rewards expire on 26 August at 8:00 p.m. local time, so use them before then.

Two paid tiers are available: GO Pass Deluxe at US$4.99 for upgraded rewards and faster rank progression, or GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Bonus Ranks at US$6.99 for an immediate head start. Deluxe holders get extra Arrokuda and Cramorant encounters, Silver Pinap Berries, Rare Candy XL and an event-exclusive avatar cosmetic.

Mega Starmie Raid Day on 22 August — Make It Count

Overlapping with the Water Festival is the Ultra Unlock: Starmie Super Mega Raid Day on Saturday, 22 August, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. This is Mega Starmie’s first-ever appearance in Pokémon GO. Free bonuses available to everyone include:

  • +5,000 XP from all raids
  • Up to 6 free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • Increased Shiny Starmie encounter rate after raids
  • Increased Rare Candy XL drop rate
  • All caught Starmie auto-unlock Mega Level 1
  • Remote Raid Pass limit raised to 20 (from Friday 21 August 2:00 p.m. PDT through Saturday 22 August 8:00 p.m. PDT)

A premium event ticket (US$4.99) upgrades that to 14 Raid Passes from gyms, stacks an additional +5,000 XP, and grants guaranteed Rare Candy XL with each Starmie caught post-raid. A Timed Research track rewards a Scizor encounter plus a Premium Battle Pass.

Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day This Saturday — Shiny Debuts in Pokémon GO

Singapore Pokémon GO trainers, your weekend is getting a big visitor — Gigantamax Rillaboom is stomping back into six-star Max Battles this Saturday, and this time the colossal Grass-type drummer is bringing its shiny form to Pokémon GO for the very first time.

What Is the Gigantamax Rillaboom Max Battle Day?

Max Battle Days are Pokémon GO’s flagship weekend events — a focused three-hour window where a single Gigantamax Pokémon takes over every active Power Spot across the entire map. On Saturday, 1 August 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time (2–5 PM SGT for Singapore trainers), every Power Spot will host six-star Gigantamax Rillaboom battles.

If you’re new to Max Battles: round up two to four friends at a Power Spot, spend your Max Particles powering up G-Max moves, and work through Rillaboom’s massive HP pool before time runs out. Beat it and you get a catch encounter — and this Saturday, every single encounter is a fresh roll for the shiny.

Shiny Gigantamax Rillaboom Debuts This Weekend

The real headliner here is the shiny debut. Standard Rillaboom has deep green foliage and dark brown wood; shiny Rillaboom flips to a vivid lime-green and noticeably lighter brown — a clean, easy-to-read difference the moment you reach the catch screen. Since the shiny check runs at the catch encounter rather than the start of the battle, every successful fight is its own independent roll. Volume is the strategy — which is exactly what Max Battle Day is designed for.

Best Counters for Gigantamax Rillaboom

Gigantamax Rillaboom is a pure Grass type, giving it five weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug. Fire-type Max attackers are by far the strongest play right now:

  • Gigantamax Cinderace — G-Max Fireball delivers the highest Fire-type Max damage currently available
  • Gigantamax Charizard — G-Max Wildfire is widely held and hits exceptionally hard
  • Darmanitan (Standard Mode) — the top non-Gigantamax Fire-type Max attacker and a solid pick if you’re still building your Gigantamax roster

For move sets, Grass Knot + Earth Power is the toughest Rillaboom roll to face. Earth Power threatens Poison-type Pokémon you might bring for coverage, so check your roster before heading out. Tanky picks like Vespiquen and Corviknight lead survivability rankings if you’re grinding high volume across the full three hours.

Gigantamax Rillaboom rates SS for Grass-type attack and tops the chart for damage output against Water-type bosses. If your Max roster is missing a solid Grass attacker, Saturday is the right time to fix that — shiny or not. Is the Optional Event Ticket Worth Buying?

An optional paid ticket is available in the Pokémon GO Shop for US$4.99 (or the local currency equivalent — check the in-game shop for SGD pricing). The ticket is not purchasable with PokéCoins and is non-refundable. Buying it unlocks exclusive Timed Research with rewards of 1 Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP, 6,400 Max Particles, and 2× XP from Max Battles for the entire event window.

Worth it? If you’re planning a serious shiny grind across the full three hours, the extra 6,400 Max Particles alone justify the cost. For casual trainers doing a handful of battles with friends, the free event delivers plenty of value on its own.

Ten years and one billion downloads later, Japan’s national broadcaster NHK has dedicated a prime-time slot to telling the inside story of how it all happened. The documentary airs tonight in Japan, and the origin story it tells is well worth knowing for every Singapore trainer who’s ever hunted a Snorlax at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.

NHK’s Prime-Time Tribute to Pokémon GO

On July 25, 2026 at 8:07 PM JST (9:07 PM SGT), NHK General TV airs a special episode of 新プロジェクトX～挑戦者たち～ (New Project X: Challengers) dedicated entirely to Pokémon GO’s development. The programme, titled “Smartphone in Hand, Venture Into Town — Dreams Entrusted to Gaming with Friends,” is part of NHK’s long-running documentary series that profiles the minds behind Japan’s most significant technological and cultural projects. A rebroadcast follows on July 31 at 11:45 PM JST.

The episode is significant for two reasons: it is the first time NHK has dedicated a full documentary slot to a mobile game, and it features the creator of Pokémon GO speaking openly about the vision behind it — details that have rarely been explored in English-language media. Famitsu (Japanese) reports the programme was confirmed by both NHK and the official Pokémon GO Japan account.

Who Is Tatsuo Nomura — and What Did He Dream Up?

Pokémon GO trainers, the moment is here — Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y are making their world debut in Super Mega Raids today, 18 July 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (local time). Both forms are brand new to Pokémon GO, originating from Pokémon LEGENDS: Z-A, and you have exactly three hours to add them to your Pokédex. Here’s everything you need to know before you head out.

Two New Mega Forms — and One Is Already the Best Electric Attacker in the Game

As confirmed on the official Pokémon GO site, both Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y appear exclusively in Super Mega Raids during today’s event window. Both are Electric-type bosses, and both share the same weakness: Ground-type moves. Bring your best Groudon, Garchomp, Rhyperior, or Excadrill and you’ll be well covered.

On the competitive side, Mega Raichu Y launches with an ATK stat of 339, instantly making it the strongest Electric-type attacker in Pokémon GO — a significant meta shake-up for raid teams. Whether you’re farming Gyarados or Water-type raid bosses, Mega Raichu Y is going straight into the Electric attacker slot.

Any Raichu you catch from a Super Mega Raid today will have Mega Level 1 already unlocked, saving you a chunk of Mega Energy on the first evolve. Shiny Raichu also has a boosted encounter rate from these raids — fingers crossed for that golden spark.

To mark a decade since Pokémon GO launched and took over parks across Singapore and the world, Niantic is hosting a dedicated broadcast on Twitch.tv/PokemonGO. The stream is billed as a celebration of the game’s 10-year journey — though Niantic has kept the actual content under wraps, with the official Pokémon GO account describing it simply as something you won’t want to miss.

The game has generated over US$9.1 billion in lifetime player spending since 2016, according to AppMagic data as reported by PocketGamer.biz — making it the fifth highest-grossing mobile game ever. Japan alone accounts for roughly 30 per cent of that figure, underscoring just how deeply Pokémon GO is embedded in Asian gaming culture.

When to Watch From Singapore

The broadcast runs from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM SGT on Friday, 10 July 2026 (6:30 PM–9:30 PM EDT on 9 July). Yes, it’s an early start — but if you’re a die-hard trainer, setting that alarm is very much worth it for the free rewards alone.

GO Fest 2026 Global: Free for the First Time in Pokémon GO’s 10-Year Run

Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global runs on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12, from 10 AM to 7 PM local time each day — 10 AM to 7 PM SGT for Singapore trainers, with no time zone disadvantage. Since the first GO Fest in Chicago in 2017, every Global event has required at minimum a USD ticket purchase. This year, Niantic and The Pokémon Company are dropping the paywall entirely to mark the game’s 10th anniversary.

If you have Pokémon GO installed, you are in. There is an optional GO Pass: Road of Legends Deluxe upgrade for cosmetic bonuses and a Gold Bottle Cap, but the entire core event — raids, habitats, Special Research, and Zeraora — is available for free. For Singapore players who have always hesitated at GO Fest’s annual price tag, this is the one weekend not to miss.

Mega Mewtwo X headlines Saturday July 11 in Super Mega Raids, and Mega Mewtwo Y takes over on Sunday July 12. Both forms are appearing in Pokémon GO for the very first time — this is their global debut, not a rerun. Any Mewtwo caught from these Super Mega Raids arrives with at least one Mega Level already unlocked, meaning you can Mega Evolve it immediately at no initial Mega Energy cost.

Super Mega Raids are tougher than standard five-star encounters, so come prepared with a strong Electric- or Ghost-type team and a solid group of at least five trainers. Singapore’s high-density areas — Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Bugis, HarbourFront VivoCity — draw large raid groups, but the first two hours of each day tend to be the busiest. Complete the research steps during the July 11-12 event window to add it to your collection. Zeraora’s Electric-type moveset makes it genuinely useful in GO Battle League, so this one is worth prioritising alongside the raids.

Across both event days, all 18 Pokémon types rotate through six themed habitat zones, giving trainers the chance to earn each type’s platinum medal in a single weekend. Ten years ago this month, the world started walking to parks and bumping into lamp posts — and Pokémon GO has never really let us stop. Niantic is marking the milestone with a packed July schedule every Singapore trainer should bookmark: a free GO Fest Global event, the debut of Mega Mewtwo X and Y, and a Community Day starring Sobble.

10th Anniversary Party: 4–6 July

The birthday bash runs from Saturday 4 July to Monday 6 July (until 8 p.m. local time each day). Trainers get 4× XP and 4× Stardust for catching Pokémon, plus the debut of Gimmighoul holding a special 10th Anniversary Coin — a variant not seen before. Party-hat Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur return with boosted Shiny rates, and evolving a Charizard, Venusaur or Blastoise during the window unlocks the legacy Community Day moves Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant and Hydro Cannon respectively. Singapore’s green corridors — East Coast Park, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Orchard Road, the Botanic Gardens — tend to have the densest lured PokéStops during major events, so plan your route early.

Community Day — Sobble on 4 July, 2–5 p.m.

Community Day falls on the same Saturday as the Anniversary Party kickoff, so the bonuses run in parallel. Sobble is the star, 2–5 p.m. local time, with increased Shiny rates in the wild. Evolve it all the way to Inteleon during the event or within four hours after (by 9 p.m.) and it learns Hydro Cannon. GO Fest 2026: Global — Free for the First Time Ever

GO Fest 2026: Global runs 11–12 July (10 a.m. 11 July to 7 p.m. 12 July, local time) — and for the first time since GO Fest began, no ticket purchase is required. Every trainer logs in and gets access: 1-hour Lures, 1-hour Incense, and up to 9 free Raid Passes per day.

The featured encounters are headline material. Zeraora makes its Pokémon GO debut via Special Research during GO Fest. And the raid tier gets a new category: Super Mega Raids, where Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y debut simultaneously. The twist — every trainer in the raid lobby must have a Mega-Evolved Pokémon active. Every Mega Mewtwo caught arrives with at least one Mega Level already unlocked. A branching Timed Research lets you prioritise whichever form you want.
