Gundam Rogue Orbit Locks In March 5, 2027 — New Crew and Collector’s Edition Revealed

Bandai Namco has confirmed that Gundam Rogue Orbit launches on March 5, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam — and a new release date trailer unveiled the full crew of the Stellarvane vessel, a breakdown of the game’s customisation systems, and four editions including a Collector’s that ships with an HG 1/144 Gundam Helix model kit.

As we covered when Rogue Orbit was first revealed at SDCC last July, this is a brand-new Gundam action title in an original timeline — no pre-existing Gundam series knowledge required. Consider this the full product reveal.

Meet the Crew of the Stellarvane

The trailer properly introduces the cast for the first time. You play as RE-X, an ace pilot who awakens after three years adrift in space and steps back into the cockpit of the Gundam Helix, assisted by Vii — a Haro-type intelligent unit that serves as your onboard AI companion.

The Stellarvane crew adds colour to the universe:

  • April — captain of the independent vessel Stellarvane, cool-headed and direct
  • Sofia — a mysterious young woman keeping a close watch on RE-X’s movements
  • Big Paul — a sand pirate leader distributing supplies to settlers; more complicated than he first appears
  • Elaine — a knight commander and skilled Mobile Suit pilot who will almost certainly end up in your way

Lurking at the edge of the trailer is the antagonist: a black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes, linked to something called “the Apocalypse.” Whether that’s a faction, a unit classification, or something bigger won’t be clear until March.

Combat spans ground and aerial zones in what Bandai Namco is calling a “high-mobility action game” — fast, seamless transitions between running across rubble and boosting through open airspace. The trailer shows the Helix fighting across desert terrain against biomechanical Apocalypse units, inside a space station corridor, and in open orbit.

Customisation is built around four layers: weapons (each with unique actions and skills), frames, thrusters, and Apocalypse Units — modules recovered from enemy forces that add a risk-reward loop to every encounter. Colour schemes are also adjustable, with a pre-order early-unlock Earth Blue palette for those who commit ahead of launch.

Four Editions — Including a Model Kit in the Box

This is the part that will interest Singapore’s Gundam model kit community. Four editions are available for pre-order now:

  • Standard Edition (USD 59.99) — base game
  • Launch Edition — reversible cover art, 11×17″ poster, one Gundam Card Game promo card
  • Deluxe Edition (USD 79.99) — Premium MOD Skins Set, 14-Color Mobile Suit Pack, Digital Artwork & Music Selection, Mission Reward Booster
  • Collector’s Edition — all Launch and Deluxe contents, steel case, exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix model kit, five Gundam Card Game promos

Singapore pricing has not been announced — watch major games retailers and electronics chains for local availability and SGD figures closer to launch. Given how cleanly the Helix reads in that concept art, the Collector’s Edition will be one to grab early if you want the kit in the box.

Part of the RG Universe — and You Don’t Need the Anime to Start

Rogue Orbit sits inside Bandai Namco’s “RG project” multimedia initiative, which also includes the Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO anime directed by Kenji Kamiyama. Both are set in the same original universe. Bandai Namco has been clear that they are independently enjoyable — you won’t be lost in the game if you haven’t watched the series, and vice versa — though experiencing both will deepen the overall picture.

Gundam Rogue Orbit launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on March 5, 2027. Pre-orders are live now. Check our game news section for the latest on what’s arriving in Singapore.

Patlabor: The Case Files Hits PS5 and PC on 17 September — First Console Game in 20 Years

Patlabor fans have been waiting a long time for this one. Patlabor: The Case Files, developed by Chime Corporation and published by Good Smile Company, has a confirmed worldwide release date: 17 September 2026 on PS5, PC via Steam, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Digital Deluxe edition owners get three-day early access starting 14 September.

It is the first Patlabor console game in roughly 20 years, and it arrives as a full-featured action game rather than a simple anniversary tribute — pilots will operate the iconic AV-98 Ingram across a campaign that covers the original anime, the OVAs, and both theatrical films.

Gameplay Modes

The Case Files ships with three distinct play modes:

  • Main Mission — you play as an SV2 Division officer piloting an Ingram through story missions drawn from the full Patlabor continuity
  • Another Side Mission — a unique perspective flip: you control an enemy Labor, staging incidents the SV2 team will have to respond to
  • Simulator Mode — a free-play area for learning the mechs and practicing combat without story consequences

The roster covers more than 20 playable Labors, including the fan-favourite Type-J9 Griffon — the Ingram’s recurring rival unit — alongside a range of civilian and criminal Labor designs from across the series.

Kenji Kawai Scores the Soundtrack

Kenji Kawai — who scored both Patlabor theatrical films and is best known internationally for his Ghost in the Shell soundtrack — returns to compose the game’s music. The Digital Deluxe edition bundles the full 30-track OST alongside the early access window, making it the obvious pick for anyone who plans to spend time in Simulator Mode.

Pricing and Editions

Standard digital is priced at USD 34.99; the Digital Deluxe edition — which adds the 30-track Kenji Kawai OST and three-day early access — is USD 39.99. Both editions launch simultaneously worldwide, with the game fully localised in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Where to Wishlist

The game is live on Steam and the Epic Games Store now for wishlisting ahead of the September window. A physical edition has not been announced at this stage.

We’ll have more coverage — including a hands-on impression if preview builds come our way — closer to the 14 September early access window. Check back at GameTrader’s game news section for updates.

Cyber Formula Is Back — New Sequel Anime and 35th Anniversary Festival Confirmed

Twenty-five years after Cyber Formula SIN wrapped its final OVA episode, Hayato Kazami is heading back behind the wheel. Sunrise and Bandai Namco Filmworks have officially confirmed a new short anime sequel and a 35th anniversary festival — news that broke in Japanese media this week and has gone almost entirely unreported in English.

A New Sequel After 25 Years

The upcoming short anime runs approximately six minutes and is described as the legitimate continuation of Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula SIN (the fourth and final OVA series, released between 1998 and 2000). Series director Fukuda Mitsuo — who has helmed every instalment since the 1991 TV series — is back at the helm, and the production uses entirely hand-drawn animation with no CGI for characters or machines. The short condenses, in Fukuda’s own words, “a new year of Cyber Formula” into its six-minute runtime.

No release date or streaming platform has been announced yet; Sunrise has stated details will follow in the months ahead. Singapore fans who followed the series via VCD or cable broadcasts in the late 1990s should note this is Japan-focused for now, with no confirmed international release.

The Zenith Asrada — A Brand-New Cybermachine

Alongside the new anime, the announcement introduced a completely original cybermachine: the Zenith Asrada AKF-S0/G. The design comes from none other than Kawamori Shoji — the mecha legend behind the Valkyries in Macross — marking a reunion with a franchise he worked on during the original run. The Zenith Asrada features the franchise’s signature swept-wing silhouette with twin rear engines, retaining the DNA of the original Asurada machines while pushing into new visual territory.

35th Anniversary Festival — January 9, 2027

The centrepiece of the celebration is a live event at Misato Bunka Kaikan in Saitama Prefecture on January 9, 2027. The festival is titled New Century GPX Cyber Formula 35th Anniversary Festival: Glory of Winners and runs in two sessions — afternoon (2:00 PM) and evening (6:00 PM) — with all seats reserved at ¥9,800 (roughly S$90).

The guest list reads like a who’s who of the original production: director Fukuda Mitsuo, mecha designer Kawamori Shoji, voice actors Kanemaru Junichi (Hayato Kazami) and Mitsuishi Kotono (Asuka Sugo), plus live musical performances from Kageyama Hironobu — the legendary anime singer behind the Dragon Ball Z opening and many Cyber Formula tracks. Fastest-access presale tickets opened August 5 and run until August 23; check V-Storage (Japanese) for ticket links.

Before the January festival, fans in Japan can get up close at Mega Hobby Expo 2026 F-DASH!!! on September 26, 2026 at Akihabara UDX. MegaHouse is building a life-size Zenith Asrada that visitors can sit in — a ride experience that lets you feel like an ace pilot, if only for a few minutes. The event also features a dedicated stage presentation.

Collector’s Corner: New Figures and a Music Box Set

For collectors, MegaHouse has also revealed a Super Asurada 01 Circuit Mode NEON Ver. (limited to 350 units) with a dark-blue and neon-yellow paint scheme, plus a special Cyber Formula Winners CD Box — collecting restored 8cm singles and a vinyl record — releasing on January 9, 2027 at ¥9,980 (roughly S$91). These items are import-only for Singapore fans; check the official Cyber Formula site (Japanese) for ordering information.

There is no word yet on a Singapore or SEA streaming release for the new short anime, nor on local retail for the merchandise. Follow @Cyberformula_GP on X (Japanese) for updates, and check our anime coverage for any confirmed SG details as they come.

SRW ZII Ruination Remastered Announced — English Localisation Confirmed

Bandai Namco’s Super Robot Wars 35th Anniversary Stream delivered its headline moment last night: Super Robot Wars ZII: Ruination Remastered is confirmed and in development, with producer Kota Toma announcing it will release worldwide — including an English localisation. This marks the first time this 2011 PSP classic has ever received an official Western release. Platforms and a release date remain to be confirmed.

What Is Super Robot Wars ZII: Ruination Remastered?

The original Dai-2-ji Super Robot Taisen Z: Hakai-hen (第2次スーパーロボット大戦Z 破界篇) launched on PSP in April 2011 and was never localised outside Japan. It is the first of two chapters in the Z2 arc — “Hakai-hen” translates roughly as “World-Breaking Chapter” — with its continuation, Saisei-hen, following later that same year. No remaster of Saisei-hen has been announced alongside this.

As reported by RPGSite, producer Toma confirmed the team will “release this remaster worldwide with localisations in multiple languages, including English.” HD battle animations and UI improvements are expected, though the full feature list has not been detailed. The series lineup from the original PSP game includes:

  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
  • Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (1st Season)
  • Armored Trooper Votoms
  • Macross Frontier: The False Songstress
  • Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers
  • Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!
  • Terrestrial Defense Corporation Dai-Guard

These were all present in the original 2011 release — the significance for Singapore and Western players is simply that this is the first time any of it will be legally playable in English.

SRW Y Anniversary Expansion Pack Arrives August 5

The same stream confirmed a second paid DLC drop for Super Robot Wars Y: the Anniversary Expansion Pack lands on August 5, 2026 on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but the content pack includes:

  • 33 new Area Missions
  • 12 new weapons
  • 5 new playable units
  • 1 new Assist Crew member
  • Anniversary Expansion Pack Purchase Bonus mission

Alongside the paid pack, a free Version 1.4.0 update drops on August 4 for all SRW Y owners, adding a new BOOST game mode, a 20 Million Sales Commemoration Mission, a 35th Anniversary Commemoration Mission, and an unlocked pilot level cap. SRW Y is available on the Singapore PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop, so local players can grab both the free update and the DLC from day one.

Note: the Anniversary Expansion Pack is separate from the first Expansion Pack (which added Ideon, Hi-Nu Gundam, Cross Ange, and others and launched in April 2026 at USD $29.99 on Steam).

Mobile Suit Gundam RG: Xarx-Zero Revealed — Kamiyama Directs, 2027

The wait is finally over. Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed the next Gundam anime at San Diego Comic-Con 2026’s Gundam Showcase 2026 – Unveil the Next Gundam panel on 23 July, and as we flagged when the panel was announced, the reveal is genuinely landmark-level. The new series is titled Mobile Suit Gundam RG: Xarx-Zero, directed by Kenji Kamiyama — the man behind Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex — and it premieres in 2027.

A New Gundam Universe — and the First with Aliens

Gundam RG: Xarx-Zero is set in an entirely new timeline: the After Apocalypse era, currently at A.A. 45. The premise breaks one of the franchise’s longest-held rules: for the first time in its 47-year history, aliens are central to the plot.

The story begins with humanity entering a golden age of galactic expansion after contact with a mysterious entity called the Autonomous Interstellar Object. Within a decade, that entity went berserk and unleashed Apocalypse — an aggressive, self-replicating ecosystem — that drove humanity to abandon Earth entirely. Forty-five years later, the surviving population lives in lunar and space colonies, and the scars of that catastrophe still define every aspect of life.

The protagonist is Ray Azumi, who pilots the mobile suit that lends the series its name: the Gundam RG Xarx-Zero. Details on Ray and the suit’s capabilities are still under wraps, but the shift back to a male lead continues a pattern across recent Gundam entries — after the female-centred Gundam GQuuuuuuX, the franchise is rotating its lens again.

Why Kenji Kamiyama Makes This a Big Deal

Kenji Kamiyama’s name will mean something to any Singapore fan who was watching anime in the early 2000s. His Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002–2004) is widely considered one of the defining works in science fiction animation — a series that married dense political intrigue with intimate character work and some of the most convincing world-building in the medium. He followed it with a second season, a film, and Ghost in the Shell: Arise, establishing himself as the director Bandai Namco goes to when they need a Gundam title to feel weighty and serious.

The After Apocalypse premise suits Kamiyama’s strengths: an established society still grappling with a trauma it cannot fully understand, political tensions across colony factions, and a protagonist who carries the weight of that history. If the aliens are handled the way he tends to handle ambiguous threats — as systemic problems rather than simple enemies — Gundam RG: Xarx-Zero could be the thinking-person’s Gundam that long-time fans have been asking for.

Part of the Gundam Rogue Orbit Universe

Gundam RG: Xarx-Zero shares its universe with Gundam Rogue Orbit, the high-mobility mecha action game from Bandai Namco Studios launching in 2027. The two properties are set in the same After Apocalypse continuity, building out a new canon from different angles — one playable, one narrative — similar to how the Gundam Build universe ran games and anime side by side.

What Singapore Fans Should Know Now

A 2027 premiere window means there is no broadcast date yet and no confirmed streaming platform for Singapore and Southeast Asia. That said, Bandai Namco has been consistent about making recent Gundam series available globally through GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL on YouTube (free, region-accessible) and Crunchyroll, so it is reasonable to expect SEA access when the show launches. The full SDCC announcement stream is archived on the Gundam Channel International for fans who missed the 2:00 AM SGT reveal.

Keep an eye on our anime section for cast, network, and trailer news as the franchise builds towards the 50th anniversary in 2029.

Patlabor EZY File 2 Opens 14 August — Free Classic TV Streaming Has Started

Classic mecha anime Patlabor EZY is entering high gear — the second theatrical compilation, File 2, opens in Japan on 14 August 2026, and to celebrate, Bandai Namco Filmworks has kicked off Patlabor Intensive Month 2026, including free daily streaming of the original Patlabor TV series on YouTube. For fans who grew up with the franchise — or those who have simply always meant to catch up — this is the most active Patlabor has been in years.

What Is Patlabor EZY?

Patlabor EZY is the latest chapter of the Headgear franchise that began in 1988. Set in 2036 — 38 years after the events of the original TV series — it follows a new generation of pilots in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV-2), still piloting the iconic Ingram Labor mechs but now policing crimes driven by AI and runaway automation. The core creative team behind the original franchise, including general director Yutaka Izubuchi, returned to build it, with legendary composer Kenji Kawai — who scored both the original Patlabor films and Ghost in the Shell — back on music duties. J.C.STAFF handles animation production.

The series runs eight episodes split across three theatrical films. File 1 opened on 15 May 2026 with the first three episodes; File 2 delivers episodes 4–6 as standalone stories on 14 August; and File 3 will close the series with a continuous arc.

Patlabor EZY File 2: What’s in Store on 14 August

The File 2 trailer opens on a missing bullet case and quickly spirals into something stranger — a mysterious young girl, sudden landslides, and situations that push SV-2’s rookie crew well beyond standard police work.

The leads are Kuga Towa (voiced by Sumire Uesaka), the impulsive Ingram pilot, alongside her unit commander Atori Kippei (Kikunosuke Toya). Connecting EZY to the original run is Shigeo Shiba (veteran Shigeru Chiba), a part-time advisor who acts as a living encyclopedia of Special Vehicles Section 2 history — a welcome bridge for longtime fans.

Patlabor Month 2026: Free Streams, Pop-Ups and More

Bandai Namco Filmworks has declared 17 July – 10 August “Patlabor Intensive Month 2026”, timed to build momentum for the theatrical run. The most accessible event right now: two episodes of the classic Patlabor ON TELEVISION (1989) are posted free on YouTube every day, uploaded at 9 PM JST on the official Bandai Namco Filmworks channel and available for 24 hours each. This started yesterday (17 July) — check back nightly to keep up.

The wider Patlabor Month calendar (most events Japan-based):

  • 7–16 August: Pop-up shop at Marui Shinjuku Annex 6F, with new and classic merchandise
  • 10 August (Patlabor Day): Special YouTube broadcast with cast and director Izubuchi at 9 PM JST; Fuji Soba third-round collab kicks off
  • 10–31 August: AR Ingram Photo Contest on X — post with #全国出動ARイングラム for a chance to win director-signed bromides
  • 11 August: Patlabor REBOOT (Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s 2016 short) streams free on YouTube for 24 hours
  • 14 August: File 2 theatrical opening; Patlabor REBOOT arrives on U-NEXT
  • 15 August: File 2 stage greeting at Shinjuku Piccadilly with cast and director
  • 7 Aug – 14 Sep: Suntory TAG LIVE LABEL x Patlabor limited cans (¥900, seven random designs, select vending machines nationwide)

There is no confirmed Singapore or international theatrical date for File 2 at this stage. Fans planning a Japan trip this August will want to add a cinema session to the itinerary. For everyone else, the free nightly streaming of the original TV series on YouTube is the most practical way in — and 38 years on, the Ingram is still cool.
