Pokémon Center × Sean Wotherspoon: Pikachu, Charizard & Bulbasaur Get the Vintage Treatment

Two worlds that feel like they were always destined to collide: Pokémon Center and Los Angeles designer Sean Wotherspoon have announced a limited collaborative plush collection featuring Pikachu, Charizard, and Bulbasaur — each reimagined using vintage-inspired fabrics and handcraft-forward construction. Pre-orders open 23 July 2026 at Pokémon Center Japan, with a global rollout expected to follow.

Who Is Sean Wotherspoon?

Wotherspoon is the founder of Round Two, a vintage and sneaker boutique with outposts in Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo. He is probably best known outside streetwear circles for winning the Nike On Air design competition in 2017 with the Air Max 1/97 “Sean Wotherspoon” — a corduroy-panelled sneaker that became one of the most hyped Nike releases of the decade and remains highly traded today. His aesthetic is rooted in 1970s–1980s Americana: chenille patches, boucle textures, varsity-jacket colour blocking, and a deliberate handmade quality that pushes back against polished mass production.

He has collaborated with major brands including adidas, Hot Wheels, and Levi’s, but a Pokémon tie-in — a franchise with its own deep 1990s nostalgia DNA — is arguably the most natural fit he has had in years.

The Plushies: Vintage Fabrics, Pokémon Souls

The three plushies each carry Wotherspoon’s signature material language. Pikachu is rendered in a warm golden corduroy with contrast-stitched facial features and a red-velvet inner ear. Bulbasaur uses a sage-green boucle body with the iconic seed bulb rendered in a deeper forest-green pile fabric. Charizard is the centrepiece: its wings are patchworked from multiple flame-toned fabrics — rust, amber, and burnt orange — giving it a look closer to a collectible craft object than a mass-produced toy.

All three are sized as display plushies rather than standard shelf plushies — approximately 30 cm each — and each comes packaged in a branded round tin decorated with vintage-style Pokémon artwork. The tin alone is being discussed heavily in the collecting community as a reason to pick up the set.

Pre-Order Details and Singapore Access

Pre-orders open at Pokémon Center Japan online on 23 July 2026. Individual pricing has not been confirmed at time of writing, but the collection is expected to be in the ¥4,000–¥6,000 per piece range based on comparable Pokémon Center limited plushies. A bundle option for all three is also anticipated.

There is no confirmed Singapore or Southeast Asia release through official channels yet. Singapore fans have two realistic options: use a proxy or forwarding service to order from Pokémon Center Japan, or watch Pokémon Center Online for a potential international drop, which has happened with previous high-demand collaborations. Given Wotherspoon’s global profile and the three-Pokémon breadth of the collab, an international rollout is plausible — just not confirmed.

Patlabor EZY File 2 Opens 14 August — Free Classic TV Streaming Has Started

Classic mecha anime Patlabor EZY is entering high gear — the second theatrical compilation, File 2, opens in Japan on 14 August 2026, and to celebrate, Bandai Namco Filmworks has kicked off Patlabor Intensive Month 2026, including free daily streaming of the original Patlabor TV series on YouTube. For fans who grew up with the franchise — or those who have simply always meant to catch up — this is the most active Patlabor has been in years.

What Is Patlabor EZY?

Patlabor EZY is the latest chapter of the Headgear franchise that began in 1988. Set in 2036 — 38 years after the events of the original TV series — it follows a new generation of pilots in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Special Vehicles Section 2 (SV-2), still piloting the iconic Ingram Labor mechs but now policing crimes driven by AI and runaway automation. The core creative team behind the original franchise, including general director Yutaka Izubuchi, returned to build it, with legendary composer Kenji Kawai — who scored both the original Patlabor films and Ghost in the Shell — back on music duties. J.C.STAFF handles animation production.

The series runs eight episodes split across three theatrical films. File 1 opened on 15 May 2026 with the first three episodes; File 2 delivers episodes 4–6 as standalone stories on 14 August; and File 3 will close the series with a continuous arc.

Patlabor EZY File 2: What’s in Store on 14 August

The File 2 trailer opens on a missing bullet case and quickly spirals into something stranger — a mysterious young girl, sudden landslides, and situations that push SV-2’s rookie crew well beyond standard police work.

The leads are Kuga Towa (voiced by Sumire Uesaka), the impulsive Ingram pilot, alongside her unit commander Atori Kippei (Kikunosuke Toya). Connecting EZY to the original run is Shigeo Shiba (veteran Shigeru Chiba), a part-time advisor who acts as a living encyclopedia of Special Vehicles Section 2 history — a welcome bridge for longtime fans.

Patlabor Month 2026: Free Streams, Pop-Ups and More

Bandai Namco Filmworks has declared 17 July – 10 August “Patlabor Intensive Month 2026”, timed to build momentum for the theatrical run. The most accessible event right now: two episodes of the classic Patlabor ON TELEVISION (1989) are posted free on YouTube every day, uploaded at 9 PM JST on the official Bandai Namco Filmworks channel and available for 24 hours each. This started yesterday (17 July) — check back nightly to keep up.

The wider Patlabor Month calendar (most events Japan-based):

  • 7–16 August: Pop-up shop at Marui Shinjuku Annex 6F, with new and classic merchandise
  • 10 August (Patlabor Day): Special YouTube broadcast with cast and director Izubuchi at 9 PM JST; Fuji Soba third-round collab kicks off
  • 10–31 August: AR Ingram Photo Contest on X — post with #全国出動ARイングラム for a chance to win director-signed bromides
  • 11 August: Patlabor REBOOT (Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s 2016 short) streams free on YouTube for 24 hours
  • 14 August: File 2 theatrical opening; Patlabor REBOOT arrives on U-NEXT
  • 15 August: File 2 stage greeting at Shinjuku Piccadilly with cast and director
  • 7 Aug – 14 Sep: Suntory TAG LIVE LABEL x Patlabor limited cans (¥900, seven random designs, select vending machines nationwide)

There is no confirmed Singapore or international theatrical date for File 2 at this stage. Fans planning a Japan trip this August will want to add a cinema session to the itinerary. For everyone else, the free nightly streaming of the original TV series on YouTube is the most practical way in — and 38 years on, the Ingram is still cool.

FFX Museum -幻光の記憶- Opens in Shinjuku This September — Fan Art Deadline 31 July

Final Fantasy X turned 25 on 19 July — a landmark anniversary for one of the most beloved JRPGs ever made. Square Enix has already marked the occasion with the Switch 2 HD Remaster and Daimaru Tokyo pop-up, but the centrepiece is still to come: a dedicated museum exhibition landing in Shinjuku this September.

Titled FINAL FANTASY X MUSEUM -幻光の記憶- (“Museum of Phantom Light Memories”), the exhibition will run from 12 to 27 September 2026 at Lumine 0, NEWoMan Shinjuku 5F — a venue directly accessible from Shinjuku Station without stepping outside. Per the official Final Fantasy 25th anniversary page (Japanese), hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, with an earlier close at 5:00 PM on the final day, 27 September. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.

Ticket pricing has not yet been announced. Square Enix describes the exhibit as covering multiple displays on the game and its history, with exclusive anniversary merchandise available on-site.

Fan Art Could End Up on the Exhibition Wall

Square Enix has opened an online fan art submission form ahead of the exhibition, with selected works to be displayed as part of the show. The form closes on 31 July 2026 — two weeks from now. The company is also accepting short written comments from fans (targeted at Japanese residents) for the exhibit. If you want a piece of your FFX fan art in Shinjuku, the official anniversary site (Japanese) is the place to start.

The Perfect Tokyo Game Show Side Trip

Final Fantasy X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- — two-record set with Yuna and Tidus cover art

The dates are no coincidence: the exhibition overlaps with Tokyo Game Show 2026, scheduled for 17–21 September at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Singapore consistently sends one of the strongest overseas contingents to TGS, and Shinjuku is an easy same-trip addition — about 50 minutes by JR from Makuhari Messe, well within day-trip range. Tidus and Yuna in a Shinjuku museum while you’re already in Tokyo for TGS is too good a combination to pass up.

For those staying home, the FINAL FANTASY X LP Vinyl Set -Eternal Calm- — two records, 20 tracks of the iconic Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu soundtrack, with new Tidus and Yuna sleeve art — launched on 1 July via official Square Enix channels. Anniversary merchandise tends to move quickly around exhibition periods; Singapore importers may want to get in early. The FFX/X-2 HD Remaster is also live now on Nintendo Switch 2 if you need an excuse to revisit Spira before September.

PokéStops and What Singapore Fans Need to Know

The wider campaign still has two more beats incoming. From 20 July, every one of McDonald’s Japan’s roughly 3,000 outlets becomes a sponsored PokéStop and Gym in Pokémon GO — running through 1 September. And on 31 July, the Pokémon Happy Meals arrive, details to be confirmed.

The entire promotion is Japan-only with no Singapore rollout announced. If you are planning a Japan trip this summer, 22 July is the date to mark — the burgers are available nationwide and the GO PokéStop tie-in starts just two days earlier. For those staying in Singapore, the latest gaming and Japan culture news will keep you covered.

JR East Pokémon Stamp Rally 2026 Starts Tomorrow — Your Tokyo Guide

The JR East Pokémon Stamp Rally is back — and this year, Pokémon’s 30th anniversary turns it into something special. Starting Thursday, 16 July, fans in Tokyo can ride the trains, collect stamps at 36 stations across the network, and walk away with exclusive prizes unavailable anywhere else. For Singapore families heading to Japan this school holiday season, the timing could not be better.

What Is the Pokémon Stamp Rally?

An annual summer tradition in Tokyo, the stamp rally is run in collaboration with JR East — Japan’s largest commuter-rail operator. Participants pick up a free stamp booklet at a major station, then travel the network collecting character stamps at each participating stop. Complete a course and present your booklet at the goal counter to claim a limited-quantity prize on a first-come-first-served basis. This year the rally runs from 16 July to 31 August 2026, with prize exchanges accepted through 1 September.

2026 Theme: 30 Years of Starters

Pokémon’s 30th anniversary gives this year’s rally a bigger scope than usual. Stamps and prizes pull from the full franchise history, featuring starter Pokémon from every mainline generation — Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle through to the newest — alongside Captain Pikachu (star of the current TV anime), Koraidon and Miraidon from Scarlet and Violet, and newer anime faces Masqueranda and Weenibal. Pokémon-branded train wraps will also run on three of Tokyo’s busiest lines from August: Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, and Chuo Line Rapid.

Four Courses — Four Sets of Prizes

6-Station Course

Collect stamps from any 6 of the 36 participating stations and head to the goal counter near Oimachi Station. Rewards include a Captain Pikachu collectible figure from the Pokémon Frienda prize machine, a ticket-style commemorative sticker, and a Captain Pikachu sun visor — ideal for a Tokyo summer.

9-Station Course

A fixed nine-station route spotlights starter Pokémon — one per station, with a choice of stamp at each stop. The goal counter is at Tokyo Station. Complete it for a special starter Pokémon neck strap spanning every generation.

36-Station Course

The full challenge: collect stamps at all 35 JR East stations and 1 Tokyo Monorail station on the list. Redeem the completed booklet at Tokyo Station for a limited-edition rally key ring exclusive to the 2026 event.

Shinkansen Course

Travelling beyond Greater Tokyo? Seven bullet-train stations across the Tohoku and Shinetsu regions also carry stamps. Finish the Shinkansen course for a dual-sided Koraidon and Miraidon medal made for the 30th anniversary.

Pokémon Trains and Photo Spots

Riding the Pokémon-wrapped trains is half the fun — and you can never quite predict which platform one will pull into. From August, special liveries appear on the Yamanote, Keihin-Tohoku, and Chuo Line Rapid services. Dedicated photo spots are set up at Tokyo Station, Waters Takeshiba, and the Oimachi Tracks business park. Waters Takeshiba also hosts a unique layered stamp experience where four overlapping designs combine into a single picture, plus a Honda Koraidon display on the ground floor.

Captain Pikachu Meet-and-Greet

A free Captain Pikachu character meet-and-greet is scheduled at two venues — advance reservation is required and no same-day slots are available.

  • Oimachi Tracks: 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 July
  • Waters Takeshiba: 1, 8, 15, 22 August

Up to four guests per group; 15 groups per session across four daily sessions. The reservation window for Waters Takeshiba opens 27 July at noon JST (11:00 AM SGT) through 29 July at noon. Full booking details are on the official JR East event site (Japanese).

How to Participate — Tips for Singapore Visitors

Getting started requires nothing more than showing up at a major JR East station from 16 July and picking up a free stamp booklet at the dedicated desk. Your existing IC card or Suica — the same card you use to get around Tokyo — is all you need to hop between stations. A JR Pass also covers Shinkansen course stations.

If you want something more substantial to keep, a deluxe edition stamp booklet bundled with a Pokémon-themed pass case is available at NewDays convenience stores inside JR East stations for ¥2,420 (roughly S$21) while stocks last.

Prizes are limited and distributed first-come-first-served at the goal counter, so if the 36-station challenge is on the list, build a dedicated station-hopping day early in the rally rather than saving it for the final weeks of August. All prizes must be redeemed by 1 September 2026.

MOTHER 3 × G-Shock DW-5600: 20th Anniversary Watch Lottery Opens 17 July

Twenty years after MOTHER 3’s GBA release, Hobonichi has unveiled the third instalment in its ongoing MOTHER × G-Shock collaboration series — and this one is built entirely around the game’s most emotionally loaded image: the sunflower field from Chapter 6. Lottery applications open in Japan on 17 July 2026, and Singapore collectors who want one will need to move fast.

Image courtesy of Hobonichi MOTHER Project

The Watch: Everything Yellow, Everything Intentional

The base model is the Casio G-Shock DW-5600 — the original square silhouette that most G-Shock fans consider the purest expression of the line. Hobonichi has dressed it in a vivid sunflower yellow that references the himawaribatake (sunflower field) scene in MOTHER 3’s Chapter 6, one of the most heartbreaking moments in JRPG history.

The dial carries the MOTHER 3 logo in the lower half of the face, with a red accent ring framing the display — a subtle echo of the MOTHER series’ trademark earthiness. Around the case, a gold-coloured protector adds a premium touch not seen on earlier entries in the collaboration series. The watch case measures 48.9 × 42.8 × 14.8 mm and carries G-Shock’s standard shock resistance and 20-bar water resistance. The back cover is engraved with 「ぽてんしゃる!」 — “Potential!” — a signature MOTHER 3 expression.

The Hidden Detail: Light It Up

Press the light button and the DW-5600’s LED backlight reveals a pixel-art sunflower field in vivid red — the himawaribatake rendered in retro dot-art, glowing through the translucent face of the watch. It is the kind of secret that rewards the wearer rather than the observer, which feels very MOTHER in spirit.

The resin band features Doseiisan (Mr. Saturn) characters embossed into the rubber — the round, doe-eyed creatures who became one of the series’ most beloved mascots. The watch ships in a special sunflower-themed tin case, and everything about the packaging leans into the game’s bittersweet warmth.

Part of a Bigger 20th Anniversary Push

The G-Shock watch is the centrepiece of a broader wave of MOTHER 3 20th anniversary merchandise from Hobonichi, the company run by MOTHER series creator Shigesato Itoi. Earlier this year the Hobonichi MOTHER Project released anniversary items including a plush of the Ultimate Chimera — the game’s notoriously terrifying creature — as well as a square tote and anniversary posters. The full 20th anniversary merch collection is documented on Hobonichi’s official site (Japanese).

This is the third G-Shock collaboration in the MOTHER series. The first used a GW-M5610 base (2021–22), the second brought a GW-6900 in MOTHER Red (2024), and now the DW-5600 takes on MOTHER 3’s identity in sunflower yellow. Each one has sold out quickly on lottery.

How Singapore Fans Can Enter the Lottery

The watch is a Japan-only lottery item sold exclusively through Hobonichi’s online store MOTHER no Omise (Japanese). There is no confirmed international shipping or SG retail availability — you will need a Japan forwarding or proxy service to enter and receive the item.

  • Lottery opens: 17 July 2026, 11:00 AM JST (10:00 AM SGT)
  • Lottery closes: 30 July 2026, 11:00 AM JST (10:00 AM SGT)
  • Price: ¥19,800 (tax included) — roughly S$190 at current rates, before shipping and proxy fees
  • Base model: G-Shock DW-5600
  • Where to apply: Hobonichi MOTHER Project shop (Japanese)

Physical samples are on display at Hobonichi’s TOBICHI Tokyo space (Kanda, Chiyoda-ku) from 14 to 29 July if you happen to be in Japan. Given the track record of the previous two MOTHER × G-Shock releases, demand will likely far exceed supply. Have your proxy or forwarding service account set up before 17 July.
