Monster Hunter Outlanders Reveals Elder Dragon Ruger Aidal at Gamescom 2026

Garena and TiMi Studio Group just delivered one of gamescom 2026’s most striking reveals: the debut of Ruger Aidal, the first original Elder Dragon created specifically for Monster Hunter Outlanders, the mobile hunting RPG heading to Southeast Asia later this year.

Ruger Aidal is unlike anything in the mainline Monster Hunter series — this Elder Dragon was born from the lore of Outlanders itself, not ported from an existing title. Adorned with enormous wings that shine with golden, iridescent light, the creature resembles a sun suspended in the sky. Sightings in the world of Aesoland are exceedingly rare, with tales of it passed down through generations.

In the gamescom trailer, adventurers first spot a mysterious aurora before sensing something massive approaching. Ruger Aidal appears wreathed in golden light, gazes calmly at the group, then becomes enveloped in an intense orb resembling a second sun — before unleashing a scorching burst of light and heat that chars the surrounding landscape. It’s a cinematic introduction befitting a flagship monster.

As we covered when Garena opened pre-registration last week, Monster Hunter Outlanders is licensed and supervised by Capcom, developed by TiMi Studio Group, and published by Garena across Southeast Asia — with Singapore-headquartered Garena serving as the direct regional publisher.

Radiant Forms Add Twists on Fan-Favourite Monsters

Ruger Aidal’s presence doesn’t just mark a boss encounter — it reshapes Aesoland’s entire ecosystem. The Elder Dragon releases Radiant Particles that transform classic Monster Hunter monsters into “Radiant” species, altering both their appearance and combat behaviour in ways that will catch even veteran hunters off-guard.

Confirmed monsters roaming Aesoland include franchise staples: Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, Kushala Daora, Anjanath, and Nergigante. Some will only appear in their Radiant forms. For Singapore hunters who’ve put hundreds of hours into Monster Hunter World or Wilds, this twist means old knowledge won’t guarantee an easy fight — and that’s exactly the kind of challenge the series does best.

Pre-Register on App Store and Google Play — Milestone Rewards on the Line

Pre-registration has expanded beyond the official website to both the App Store and Google Play. Community milestone rewards are live: once enough hunters globally sign up, all pre-registered players will receive 20 Standard Contracts, the SR Adventurer “Raya”, and additional rewards at launch.

No SGD pricing or exact Singapore launch date has been confirmed — the game is listed as “coming soon” on both stores, with Garena’s SEA rollout covering Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Stay tuned via mho.garena.com, the official Facebook page, and Instagram. For more coverage of upcoming mobile and console titles, check our game news section.

Monster Hunter Outlanders: Garena Opens Singapore Pre-Registration

Singapore Monster Hunter fans, the franchise’s first mobile open-world entry is officially heading to our region — and pre-registration is live right now, with a Southeast Asia-exclusive SR Adventurer waiting for everyone who signs up before launch.

What Is Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a free-to-play open-world hunting action RPG for Android and iOS, developed by TiMi Studio Group (the Tencent subsidiary behind Call of Duty: Mobile) under licence from Capcom. This is not a port or companion app — it is a standalone title set on the brand-new continent of Aesoland, built around the Monster Hunter DNA Singapore players know: large-scale monster hunts, real-time four-player co-op, weapon crafting, and ecosystems where creatures genuinely roam and interact with each other.

Two public closed betas have already run globally, with the second in April 2026 lifting the NDA so players could share footage for the first time. Reactions from beta testers praised the game’s visual fidelity and how faithfully the monster behaviours carry over from the mainline series.

Familiar Hunts, New Mechanics

The biggest departure from the mainline games is the Adventurer system. Rather than building a custom hunter, players select from a roster of nine pre-designed characters, each with a fixed weapon and moveset. The current roster spans three roles:

  • Assault — Pyro (Great Sword), Luka, Ouyang Varen, Midori (Long Sword): hard-hitting damage dealers built for momentum.
  • Disruptor — Keres (Dual Blades), Raya, Pepper (Heavy Bowgun): agile fighters who break monster parts and interrupt attacks.
  • Support — Arkaya, Madelyn (Bow): team amplifiers whose Ultimates buff co-op partners and extend windows for the whole squad.

Alongside the classic Palico, Outlanders introduces two new Buddy companions exclusive to this title: Trillan, a bird-like creature, and Rutaco, a simian companion. Classic monsters — Rathalos, Anjanath, Kulu-Ya-Ku — share the open world with a new tier called Radiant Species: supercharged variants like Radiant Diablos and Radiant Anjanath that demand tighter team coordination.

Pre-Register Now — Raya Is the SEA Exclusive Reward

For Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines, Garena is the official regional publisher. Pre-registration is now open at mho.garena.com, and signing up before launch nets two confirmed rewards:

  • Standard Contract ×20 — in-game currency to pull for gear and characters.
  • SR Adventurer Raya — a Disruptor-class character created specifically for the SEA launch. She is not available in other regions’ pre-registration packages.

No release date has been confirmed yet, but the pace of closed betas — two completed, NDA lifted on the second — suggests the SEA launch is getting close. Pre-registering now costs nothing and guarantees you pocket Raya from day one.

Gamescom ONL Will Show More — Tune In at 2am SGT on 26 August

Free Fire Daybreak: First Trailer Reveals Kelly’s Story and the World of New Dawn

The first official story trailer for Free Fire: Daybreak is out, and it finally pulls back the curtain on what Garena and KADOKAWA’s anime adaptation is actually about. When the project was announced last week, all we had was a key visual and a Spring 2027 window. Now we have characters, a plot, and a director whose name will mean something to fans of CANDY BOX’s previous work.

The story is set in New Dawn, a gleaming near-future metropolis run by the all-powerful Horizon Corporation. At the centre of it is 16-year-old Kelly, who gets pulled into an experimental programme called Project Bloom and wakes up with a power called Limit Break — described as the ability to unlock what has been sealed away.

As fragments of Kelly’s past resurface, she teams up with two allies Free Fire fans will recognise instantly: Hayato, the sword-wielding fighter in the red hoodie, and Moco, the green-haired hacker who brings a tactical edge to the group. The trailer frames the story as a conspiracy thriller — Kelly and company digging into what Horizon Corporation is actually doing, and what it means for the city’s future.

Production: CANDY BOX, Ken Takahashi and Spring 2027

The anime is produced by studio CANDY BOX, known for Blue Archive The Animation and Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! — the studio has built a track record turning mobile-game IP into watchable anime. Ken Takahashi is directing (he served as assistant director on Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA Licht Nameless Girl and has credits on Ragna Crimson), with series composition by Hotaru Asafuji and music from Koji Fujimoto of Sus4 Inc. — who also scored Ragna Crimson. KADOKAWA QINGYU handles production management.

Garena and KADOKAWA HOLDINGS ASIA confirmed that the series will air and stream worldwide, including Japan, when it launches in Spring 2027. No streaming platform has been named yet, but a global simulcast would put it in front of Singapore audiences on day one.

Why Singapore Fans Should Pay Attention

Free Fire has dominated Southeast Asia’s battle royale scene for years, and Garena — the Singapore-based platform behind it — has now committed fully to taking the franchise into anime. This is the first animated series built around the Free Fire universe, and with a legitimate studio, a known director, and a worldwide streaming plan, it is not a low-effort tie-in. Whether you are a Free Fire veteran curious how Kelly’s story plays out, or an anime fan who knows CANDY BOX’s work, Spring 2027 is worth a bookmark. For more anime news, keep an eye on GameTrader.

Free Fire Daybreak Anime Set for Spring 2027 — Garena × KADOKAWA

It’s official: Free Fire Daybreak, the anime adaptation of Garena’s massively popular battle royale, is heading to screens worldwide in Spring 2027 — and the first full key visual is out, showing off hero Kelly alongside her allies Hayato and Moco.

What is Free Fire Daybreak About?

The story is set in New Dawn, a near-future city ruled by the powerful Horizon Corporation. At the centre is Kelly, a 16-year-old who wakes with no memory of her past and becomes entangled in Horizon’s clandestine Project Bloom. The experiment awakens her ability — Limit Break — described in the official synopsis as “an extraordinary ability capable of unlocking anything that has been sealed away.” As fragments of Kelly’s past resurface, she joins Hayato and Moco to uncover the conspiracy threatening New Dawn’s future.

Hayato and Moco are familiar faces from the Free Fire game roster. Their anime-specific roles beyond being Kelly’s core allies have not yet been detailed.

The Production Team

The anime is a joint production between Garena Online Private Limited — the Singapore-registered gaming company behind the Free Fire franchise — and KADOKAWA Corporation, one of Japan’s most prolific anime publishers. KADOKAWA’s overseas arm, KADOKAWA QINGYU, manages production.

The director is Ken Takahashi, whose previous credits include the dark fantasy adaptation Ragna Crimson (Silver Link, 2023). Series composition is handled by Hotaru Asafuji, with music by Kōji Fujimoto (Sus4 Inc.). The animation studio is CANDY BOX, known for Blue Archive The Animation and Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin!.

A Singapore-Born IP Gets the Full Anime Treatment

Garena Online Private Limited is headquartered in Singapore as part of Sea Limited, one of Southeast Asia’s largest technology companies. Free Fire becoming a full-scale anime production with KADOKAWA puts it in rare company — a Southeast Asian game IP receiving the kind of Japanese animation treatment typically reserved for titles out of Tokyo or Osaka.

The project was first unveiled in July 2025 with a teaser trailer. The new Spring 2027 confirmation and key visual are the first major update since. A full promotional trailer is scheduled for 1 August 2026 at 11 AM JST on the official Garena Free Fire Global YouTube channel.

A worldwide simulcast is confirmed, including Japan. Specific streaming platforms are yet to be announced — follow the official anime X account for updates.
