Keeper Now on PS5 — Double Fine’s Lighthouse Adventure Is Out Now

If you missed Keeper when it launched on Xbox and PC last October, PS5 owners now have no excuse — Double Fine’s quietly beautiful lighthouse adventure has surprise-dropped on PlayStation 5, shadow-announced during Sony’s September 2026 State of Play.

What Is Keeper?

Keeper is a third-person atmospheric puzzle adventure from director Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions — the studio behind Psychonauts 2, Stacking, and Headlander. You play as a long-forgotten lighthouse that awakens on a strange, forgotten island, walking on spindly legs and accompanied by a spirited seabird companion. There is not a word of dialogue in the entire game; the story unfolds entirely through environmental details, creature gestures, and the bond between lighthouse and bird.

The world is surreal and lavishly detailed — lush alien flora, crumbling clockwork towns, blighted wastelands that glow a sickly amber. Your main tool is your own beam of light: aim it with the right analogue stick to clear infected zones, solve environmental puzzles, and coax wary creatures into helping you. Puzzles are approachable rather than brutal, keeping the focus on atmosphere and discovery. Critics praised its art direction and original score, landing it an 80 on Metacritic with a 91% positive rating across more than 1,000 Steam reviews.

From Xbox to PlayStation — A Shadow Drop

Keeper launched in October 2025 as an Xbox console exclusive alongside its PC release on Steam — PlayStation owners had to sit it out. That changed when Double Fine recently parted ways with Microsoft and returned to independent status, regaining control over its back catalogue. The studio confirmed it now retains full revenue from its titles, and bringing Keeper to PS5 is one of the first fruits of that independence.

The port arrived with zero prior fanfare — a brief one-minute trailer during State of Play and then it was live. That kind of confident shadow drop suits the game’s understated personality perfectly.

The seabird you travel with is arguably the heart of Keeper. It scouts ahead, retrieves items you cannot reach, and reacts expressively to everything you encounter — all without a single spoken word. Reviewers consistently called the relationship between the two characters the game’s emotional core, and it is the kind of quiet companionship that lingers well after the credits roll. Think Ico or Journey in mood, not in mechanics.

Where to Find It on PS5

Keeper is available now on the PlayStation Store at USD 19.99. PS Plus subscribers can pick it up at a 20% discount — bringing it to USD 15.99 — through 17 September, so there is a small window to save if you act before then. SGD pricing is set by the regional store; check the Singapore PlayStation Store listing for your local price.

If you would rather try before you buy, the game is also on Steam with a current sale running, and it supports cross-save or cross-buy through neither platform — the PS5 version is its own standalone purchase. For a genre that Singapore’s indie-minded PS5 crowd has embraced — Journey, Abzû, FlowerKeeper fits comfortably into that family of short, gorgeous, emotionally resonant experiences.
