Level-5 just made a lot of Yo-kai Watch fans very happy. During the Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 and confirmed further at the Level-5 Vision 2026 II “Dream” showcase on September 10, the Japanese RPG studio announced Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain — a full remake of the beloved Nintendo 3DS classic, coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam worldwide.
What Is Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain?
Yo-kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain is a remake of the 2014 Nintendo 3DS RPG Yo-kai Watch 2, originally released in Japan as three separate titles — Ganso (Bony Spirits), Honke (Fleshy Souls), and Shinuchi (Psychic Specters). The big news: all three versions are being combined into a single game, meaning players get the complete Yo-kai Watch 2 experience in one package for the first time.
Level-5 described the project as: “We’re keeping everything that made Yo-kai Watch 2 so special while completely revamping the graphics! We’re also hard at work developing new features, including additional story content and new Yo-kai!”
A Visual Overhaul Worth Watching
The teaser and expanded Level-5 Vision footage make one thing immediately clear: this is not a simple port. The game has been rebuilt with fully 3D character models and environments, a massive leap from the original 3DS sprites. Protagonist Nate, red-tabby fan favourite Jibanyan, and the ghostly butler Whisper are rendered in lush detail, exploring what looks like a richly lit, sun-drenched Japanese suburb that fans of the series will instantly recognise.
New Content Alongside the Classic Story
Beyond the visual upgrade, Level-5 has confirmed genuine new content is in development for Haunted Domain. Additional story content will be woven into the remake, and new Yo-kai will make their debut — details on both are to be confirmed closer to release. The core gameplay loop of befriending, battling and collecting Yo-kai will remain intact, with the original charm of the series preserved.
Importantly, this is the first time the full Yo-kai Watch 2 experience will be available in a single release. The three original 3DS versions each had exclusive Yo-kai, meaning Western players who owned only one version missed content locked to the others. Haunted Domain solves that entirely.
Platforms and What It Means for Singapore Fans
Haunted Domain is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, with a worldwide release intended — a notably different situation from the Yo-kai Watch 1 Switch remake, which was Japan-only and never reached Singapore or the rest of the world. This time, global availability is built in from the start, which is great news for local fans who grew up watching the anime on regional channels.
A release date has not been announced; Level-5’s broader lineup from the Vision 2026 II showcase points to a 2027 window. No SGD pricing has been confirmed yet — expect standard retail pricing for Switch 2 and PS5 releases when that information becomes available.
