Metal Slug Ultimate Collection: All 10 Games Coming in 2027

The legendary run-and-gun series is making its biggest comeback yet. SNK revealed Metal Slug Ultimate Collection during the September 2026 Nintendo Direct, bringing all ten classic entries into a single package slated for 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. If you ever pumped coins into a NEOGEO cabinet in Singapore, this one’s for you.

All 10 Metal Slug Games in One Package

The collection spans the entire mainline history of the franchise:

  • Metal Slug (1996, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug 2 (1998, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug X (1999, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug 3 (2000, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug 4 (2002, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug 5 (2003, NEOGEO MVS)
  • Metal Slug Advance (2004, Game Boy Advance)
  • Metal Slug 6 (2006, PlayStation 2)
  • Metal Slug 7 (2008, Nintendo DS)
  • Metal Slug Location Test Version (unreleased arcade prototype)

The handheld entries — Advance and 7 — have been historically tricky to revisit without original hardware, so seeing them in the same package as the arcade originals is a welcome move.

The Location Test Version Nobody Has Ever Played

The standout addition is the Metal Slug Location Test Version, a prototype of the original game that was used for arcade operator testing in 1995 and 1996 before the commercial release. It was never sold to the public and has been essentially locked away since. SNK describes it as “the legendary Location Test Version that was rarely shown to the public” — making its inclusion here genuinely historic for fans of the series and of arcade preservation.

Modern Features, Faithful Emulation

Emulation is handled by M2, the studio behind acclaimed ports like the Sega Ages line, which means careful attention to how the original games feel. Quality-of-life additions include:

  • Quick Save and Quick Load
  • Rewind (turn back time by a few seconds)
  • Score Attack and Speed Run modes
  • Online co-op for supported titles
  • Global online leaderboards and replay sharing
  • Combat School mode — a tutorial for newcomers to the series
  • Gallery mode with artwork, music, and historical materials

What to Expect for Singapore Gamers

Metal Slug 1–3 and X were fixtures in Singapore arcades and gaming cafes throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, and the series has a loyal following here. The collection arrives on Steam with no confirmed region restrictions, so Singapore PC players should have full access when it releases in 2027. Pricing in SGD has not yet been announced by SNK. Keep an eye on the Steam page for updates.

For console players, Switch 2 and PS5 versions are coming, though SGD pricing from local retailers is to be confirmed closer to launch. The broad multi-platform release — Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam — means there should be a version for every Singapore gamer regardless of preferred platform.

SNK has also confirmed that separate new Metal Slug games are in development, so this collection appears to be part of a broader franchise revival. The unnamed new title has not been detailed yet. For now, follow our game news for updates as they come.
