At today’s Summer Garden Party 2026 fan event in Yokohama — held in front of 4,000 fans at Pacifico Yokohama National Grand Hall — the production team confirmed that The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 begins 2 October 2026, streaming weekly on Crunchyroll. For Singapore fans, the timing couldn’t be better: the series’ official exhibition opens here on 30 September, one day before the new season kicks off.

Maomao Steps Outside the Palace — What Season 3 Holds

Season 3 broadens Maomao’s world considerably. After two seasons navigating the treacherous politics of the imperial inner sanctum, she will now venture into common settlements, neighbouring territories, and new court factions. A looming plague and an enigmatic sorcerer are teased as the threats driving the new arc, while the slow-burn dynamic between Maomao and Jinshi continues to deepen.

The format is a split cour: Part 1 runs from October 2026 into early 2027, with Part 2 following from April 2027. Studio OLM — which produced both previous seasons — returns for the full run.

A notable new character was also revealed: Reina Ueda joins the cast as Bai Niangníang (sometimes written as Paiñanñan), a mysterious fairy-like figure described as having white translucent skin, white hair, and striking red eyes. How Singapore Fans Can Watch — and What to Do Before October

Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream Season 3 for Singapore subscribers, with new episodes landing each Friday after the Japanese broadcast. If you haven’t watched the earlier seasons, seven weeks is ample time to clear all 24 episodes of Season 1 and the 24 of Season 2 before the premiere.

Beyond streaming, the official Apothecary Diaries Exhibition opens in Singapore on 30 September — a full exhibition of art, costumes, and behind-the-scenes materials from the series running right through the Season 3 premiere window. That’s one of the better anime weekends Singapore fans will get this year.

Also in the pipeline: the theatrical film The Apothecary Diaries: The Hidden Treasure of the Deceased Consort opens in Japan on December 11, 2026, featuring an original story written by the novel’s author Natsu Hyuuga. Haruhi Suzumiya Anime Hits 20: SOS Exhibition Open Now, ABEMA Stream Starts Tomorrow

The Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu anime turned twenty this year, and KADOKAWA is marking the occasion with a full programme of events — including a Tokyo exhibition that runs through 30 August, an ABEMA special stream kicking off 16 August (that’s tomorrow), and a limited Seiko chronograph that costs more than most consoles but looks spectacular. For Singapore fans: both anime seasons and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya are on Crunchyroll right now.

The SOS展〜世界を大いに盛り上げた涼宮ハルヒの展〜 is running from 10 to 30 August 2026 at Sunshine City Ikebukuro (文化会館ビル2F 展示ホールD), open daily 10:00–19:00. Tickets are ¥2,500 for timed entry; a ¥2,000 merchandise exchange ticket is also available for those primarily there for the goods. The exhibition’s illustration is by original character designer Noizi Ito (いとうのいぢ), featuring new visuals of the full SOS Brigade.

Starting 16 August, ABEMA is running a special anniversary stream of the series — Japan-only, unfortunately. Where Singapore Fans Can Watch

Both Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu seasons (2006 and 2009) and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film are available on Crunchyroll in Singapore. If you have never seen it: the 2009 broadcast order, which opens differently from the original air order, is the one generally recommended for first-time viewers. The film — covering the events of the fourth light novel — is one of the stronger theatrical anime releases of its decade and holds up well twenty years later.

The Seiko Collaboration Watch

A limited-edition Seiko chronograph is part of the 20th anniversary merchandise line. It features a light-blue dial referencing Haruhi’s school uniform, an “H” marker at 12 o’clock, and the SOS Brigade emblem engraved on the case back. Makoto Shinkai’s Untitled 8th Film Lands at Crunchyroll — Where Does That Leave Singapore?

Makoto Shinkai is coming back — and Crunchyroll has already claimed its seat at the premiere. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll announced on 11–12 August 2026 that they have jointly acquired global distribution rights to the director’s still-untitled eighth feature film. The deal positions Crunchyroll as the primary streaming home for the film across most of the world. The one catch? A large portion of Asia — the region that arguably loves Shinkai’s work most intensely — sits outside that agreement.

What We Know About the Deal

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment struck the agreement to distribute Shinkai’s next film across territories described as outside Japan and India, with some reports characterising the exclusion zone as broader — covering Asia as a whole, with India carved back in as an exception. The exact territorial boundaries have not been spelled out in official press materials, and the ambiguity matters a great deal to fans in this part of the world.

What is not ambiguous: Singapore is not covered by the Crunchyroll deal. Whether the exclusion zone is “outside Japan and India” or “outside Asia except India,” Singapore falls inside it either way. That means local fans will be watching for a separate theatrical or streaming announcement from a regional distributor — the same situation that played out for Suzume in 2022, when Encore Films handled Singapore distribution.

Shinkai’s Eighth Feature

This is Shinkai’s first film since Suzume (2022), which earned over US$300 million at the worldwide box office and picked up a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. Before that came Weathering With You (2019) and the global phenomenon Your Name (2016), which remains one of the highest-grossing anime films of all time.

The new film is Shinkai’s eighth feature overall. No title, plot synopsis, or release date has been announced. In an X post from January 2026, Shinkai offered his clearest signal yet that something was close: “It looks like this will be the year I can finally share concrete details about the new movie I have been preparing for a long time. We are all having fun creating it together.”

More recently, the director has described the theatrical premiere as “probably not far away,” though without a specific window. Early speculation, drawing on production signals and Shinkai’s comments in Japanese media, suggests the new film may move away from the romance-driven template of his recent trilogy and explore science-fiction territory — though nothing has been confirmed.

What This Means for Singapore Fans

For viewers here, the immediate takeaway is patience. The Crunchyroll and Sony global rollout will not include Singapore, which means the theatrical window and any streaming availability will depend entirely on a separate licensing deal with a local or regional distributor. If Suzume is any guide, that deal will come — Encore Films brought it to cinemas here — but fans should not expect to line up a Crunchyroll subscription and call it done.

Shangri-La Frontier: Season 3 in January 2027, Game in 2026

If you’ve been sleeping on Shangri-La Frontier, this is your wake-up call. The anime about a gaming obsessive who turns an underground VRMMORPG into his personal proving ground is officially returning for a third season in January 2027 — and for the first time, the franchise is also becoming a playable game this year. Two reasons to pay attention, and both arrived within weeks of each other.

What Is Shangri-La Frontier?

Based on Ryosei Tsukahara and Katarina’s manga in Weekly Shonen Magazine, Shangri-La Frontier follows Rakuro Hizutome — screen name Sunraku — a “trash game” speedrunner who boots up the premium VRMMORPG Shangri-La Frontier and stumbles into encounters even the game’s top players have avoided for years. Two seasons in, the show has built an 8.1/10 on MyAnimeList and a dedicated fanbase for doing something rare: making the act of actually playing games — the system mastery, the routing, the boss reads — feel genuinely exciting on screen.

Season 2, which wrapped in March 2026, left Sunraku and his party mid-preparation for their biggest challenges yet. Season 3 picks up exactly where that leaves off.

Shangri-La Frontier Season 3: January 2027, the Galaxia Heroes Arc

Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is confirmed for a January 2027 premiere, airing on the MBS/TBS Sunday 5 PM JST block. Crunchyroll confirmed an international licence for the series at AnimagiC 2026 in Germany (1 August); SG and broader Asia streaming details have not yet been announced, though previous seasons have been available in the region via streaming services.

Season 3 shifts the battlefield significantly. The teaser and confirmed story details put Sunraku inside Galaxia Heroes: Chaos (GHC) — a competitive fighting game that exists within the Shangri-La Frontier universe, separate from the main VRMMORPG. The teaser drops a mysterious plant-form character that fans have been speculating about since it dropped in July. As Crunchyroll noted in their AnimagiC announcement, “the third season will show off the anime’s take on fighting games when it makes its return.” Expect the GHC arc to run alongside the long-awaited forward progress on the Kutanid the Abyssal One raid.

The Seven Colossi: Shangri-La Frontier’s First Game

Alongside the season news, the franchise’s first standalone game is in active development: Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Colossi (シャングリラ・フロンティア ～七つの最強種～, community shorthand ShanNana), developed by Netmarble Nexus and published by Netmarble Japan. It’s a free-to-play, full 3D action RPG built around a boss-hunter structure — a natural fit for a series defined by difficult encounters. Platforms: iOS, Android, and PC. The Japan launch window is 2026; a global release has not been announced, so Singapore players interested in early access would need a Japanese store account for now.

On ShanFro Day 2026 (7 July), Netmarble held a dedicated livestream with a special game PV, new character models, and skill animations. The playable roster shown includes Wethermon, Arthur, and Emul, all closely following the anime’s art style. The game will have its first playable hands-on demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026 (17–21 September) — TGS impressions will be the real test of whether Netmarble has done Sunraku’s world justice.

Firefly Wedding Anime Premieres October 9 — Catch It on Crunchyroll

An assassin with an obsessive heart, a dying noblewoman with nothing left to lose, and a marriage proposal that was never supposed to be sincere — Firefly Wedding (ホタルの嫁入り, Hotaru no Yomeiri) is heading to TV screens on 9 October 2026, and Singapore fans can stream it day-one on Crunchyroll.

The Story: A Killer Who Loves Too Hard

Based on the completed manga by Oreco Tachibana, serialised on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website from January 2023 to January 2026, Firefly Wedding is a six-volume dark romance set in Meiji-era Japan. VIZ Media publishes the English edition digitally, so the full source material is already accessible to readers here.

The premise is deceptively simple: Satoko Kirigaya has everything a Meiji noblewoman could want on the surface — wealth, beauty, a name that commands respect. What she keeps hidden is a failing heart and a clock that is running out. When an emotionless assassin named Shinpei Goto is sent to kill her, Satoko makes the only play she has left: she asks him to marry her.

It is not a sincere proposal. But the manga’s tagline says it plainly in Japanese — 「俺、ちょっと愛が重いけど幸せにするよ」 — something along the lines of: “My love might be a little heavy, but I will make you happy.” Shinpei, it turns out, loves with the same intensity he kills.

David Production at the Helm

The adaptation sits in capable hands. David Production — the studio that brought JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure to life across multiple acclaimed seasons — is handling animation. Directing is Takahiro Kamei, best known for the warmly received 2022 Urusei Yatsura remake; series composition falls to Yuko Kakihara (Cells at Work!); and Yukiko Aikei, character designer on Your Lie in April, translates Tachibana’s style to animation.

Music is by NOGRID, with the ending theme, “Yumegokochi”, performed by TOOBOE.

Voice Cast

Lynn voices Satoko Kirigaya — she is known to Singapore anime fans from Black Clover and No Game No Life, among others. Opposite her is Kōki Uchiyama as Shinpei, whose range spans everything from Boku no Hero Academia to the Sword Art Online franchise. Supporting cast includes Kent Itō as Kōtarō Ogawa and the always-distinctive Kenjirō Tsuda as Mitsueda.

Season 3 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is well into its run on Crunchyroll, and the creative team just confirmed that the next chapter of Rudeus’s journey is about to get a lot bigger. Episode 8, kicking off the Chaos Breaker arc on 16 August 2026, is titled “The Flying Fortress” — and a freshly released PV from the official TOHO animation channel proves this arc means business.

What Is the Mushoku Tensei Chaos Breaker Arc?

Picking up from the Ranoa University graduation arc, Rudeus and Nanahoshi are heading somewhere no ordinary mage gets invited: the sky-bound fortress of Perugius Dola, the Armored Dragon King. Perugius is no minor character — he is one of the three legendary heroes who slew the Demon God in the Laplace War four centuries ago, and he has spent the centuries since ruling from a fortress floating high above the clouds.

Nanahoshi brokered the visit as a reward for Rudeus’s help with her teleportation research, dangling the promise of magic knowledge impossible to find anywhere else. What begins as a once-in-a-lifetime expedition turns grim in a hurry: according to the Anime News Network announcement, one member of the group is “struck down by a deadly illness” inside the fortress, forcing Rudeus to confront just how far he’ll go to save a friend’s life.

New Chaos Breaker Arc Cast Members

Today’s announcement confirmed the voice actors stepping into the arc’s key new roles:

  • Rikiya Koyama as Perugius Dola, the Armored Dragon King — the arc’s central figure
  • Ayumi Tsunematsu as Sylvaril of the Void, one of Perugius’s twelve Familiars
  • Nanako Mori as Atoferatofe Rybak

Koyama is a prolific voice acting veteran whose credits include Kisuke Urahara in BLEACH and Crocodile in One Piece — expect a commanding, ancient-power delivery the moment Perugius opens his mouth. When to Watch on Crunchyroll — Singapore Time

Episode 8, “The Flying Fortress,” streams on Crunchyroll this Sunday, 16 August 2026 at 11:00 PM SGT, following the series’s established weekly Sunday schedule. Subtitled episodes go live shortly after the Japanese broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS11.

It has been four years — but on the day that matters most to the SK8 the Infinity community, director Hiroko Utsumi finally broke her silence on Season 2. And yes, something is on the way.

The ∞ Day Message From Director Utsumi

On August 8, 2026 — the franchise’s annual ∞ Day celebration, chosen for the infinite-loop shape of the show’s SK∞ logo — the official SK8 the Infinity X account posted a new illustration alongside a message from Hiroko Utsumi. The accompanying Instagram Live broadcast also featured voice actors Tasuku Hatanaka (Reki) and Chiaki Kobayashi (Langa).

Utsumi’s update confirmed the one detail the fanbase had been hoping for: production is moving. “Season 2 takes place in winter!” she wrote, while noting that work is not yet at a stage where footage or any full material can be shared. The new illustration — a pencil sketch of the main characters in winter attire, stamped with the official SK∞ logo and the kanji for “Season 2” (第二期) — is the first season-specific visual since the second season was announced back in August 2022.

Her note, translated from Japanese, reads: “We’re not at a stage where we can show you material yet, but to share at least a little about Season 2: the season is winter! Winter SK∞ … which means … This is what SK∞ might become! …maybe. The possibilities are endless. Four Years Is a Long Time in Anime

When Season 2 was first announced alongside the Extra Part OVA in August 2022, the full Season 1 creative team was confirmed to return: Utsumi directing, Ichirou Ookouchi on series composition, Michinori Chiba as character designer, and Ryo Takahashi composing — all at Studio BONES. That lineup hasn’t changed. But in the years since, news has been almost entirely absent while BONES shipped title after title elsewhere.

The Extra Part OVA released in early 2025 helped hold the fandom together, delivering a self-contained side story that reintroduced Adam (Ainosuke Shindo) and Snake (Kikuchi Tadashi) while leaving the main story threads untouched. This ∞ Day message is the first concrete word on Season 2 proper since that 2022 announcement — and the first hint at what the new season will actually look like.

No premiere window has been given. Utsumi was clear that a trailer is not imminent. “Progressing steadily” is a small confirmation, but after years of near-silence it means something for a fanbase that had quietly begun to wonder.

The two-month wait is almost over. White Fox has released the first full trailer for Re:ZERO Season 4’s Recapture Arc — the adaptation of light novel Arc 6, widely regarded by readers as Tappei Nagatsuki’s strongest storyline — confirming that the second cour premieres on Crunchyroll this Wednesday, 12 August. As we covered when the season dates were announced in July, the arc has been one of the most anticipated anime events of 2026 for isekai fans. Now there is a trailer to match the hype.

What the Re:ZERO Season 4 Recapture Arc Is About

Season 4 opened in April with The Loss Arc, eleven episodes built around the shattering aftermath of the battle in Priestella: Rem plunged into an endless sleep, Crusch stripped of her memories, Julius robbed of his very name by the Gluttony Sin Archbishops. Where Part 1 leaned hard into psychological collapse and despair, Part 2 shifts register. Subaru sets out for the Pleiades Watchtower — a forbidden structure rising from the sands of the Auguria Dunes — in search of Shaula, an enigmatic all-knowing sage who may hold the key to reversing what was taken.

Among light novel readers, Arc 6’s Watchtower storyline is consistently placed at the top of the series: a story that pushes questions of identity, memory and personal worth to extremes, wrapped around some of the franchise’s most intense battle sequences. The new promotional video revisits the wreckage of Priestella before pulling out to the Auguria Dunes and the imposing silhouette of the Pleiades Watchtower. New enemies flash through the cut — including glimpses of the Gluttony Archbishop Roy Alphard and what appears to be a confrontation with Reid Astrea, described in the light novels as one of the most formidable swordsmen in the world’s history. Running through it all is the ending theme “Ender Ember” by MYTH&ROID and TK from Ling Tosite Sigure — a collaboration between two names inseparable from Re:ZERO’s musical identity.

New Characters and Voice Cast for the Watchtower Arc

The Recapture Arc introduces a new wave of key characters, each voiced by prominent names in the Japanese anime cast pool. As reported by Final Weapon:

  • Shaula — voiced by Fairouz Ai (Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean), the Pleiades Watchtower’s mysterious guardian who holds the answers Subaru is desperately seeking
  • Reid Astrea — voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki in Gintama, Joseph Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), one of the tower’s greatest threats
  • Roy Alphard — voiced by Kengo Kawanishi (Rei Kiriyama in March Comes in Like a Lion), a Gluttony Sin Archbishop whose actions drove much of Season 4 Part 1’s tragedy
  • Rui Arneb — voiced by Konomi Kohara (Kasumi Toyama in BanG Dream!)

The returning core cast remains intact: Yusuke Kobayashi as Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Inori Minase as Rem, Rina Hidaka as Beatrice, and Takehito Koyasu as Roswaal, among others.

New Theme Songs — Konomi Suzuki Meets Ashnikko

Both theme songs are new for the second cour. The opening, “Reconnect,” pairs Konomi Suzuki — who has performed multiple Re:ZERO themes across the seasons — with British-American artist Ashnikko, produced by Giga and Teddyloid. The ending, “Ender Ember,” brings together MYTH&ROID and TK from Ling Tosite Sigure; MYTH&ROID previously gave the series “Paradisus-Paradoxum” in Season 1 and “Warcry” in Season 2, so their return feels like a deliberate callback to the franchise’s roots. A snatch of “Ender Ember” runs through the trailer and already sounds like one of the year’s standout anime themes.

How Singapore Fans Can Watch from 12 August

Re:ZERO Season 4 streams exclusively on Crunchyroll, which is available in Singapore via web, mobile and smart TV apps. Episode 12 — the Recapture Arc premiere — goes live on 12 August, simulcasting alongside the Japanese broadcast. If you’ve been following Season 4 Part 1 on Crunchyroll, no action is needed on your end; the new episodes slot into the same series listing.

If you’re catching up, all prior seasons are on the platform. Seasons 1 through 4 are there, and the eleven Loss Arc episodes from Part 1 are the essential lead-in — the Recapture Arc picks up directly where Episode 11 left off, with no gap in narrative momentum. An English dub for the Recapture Arc has not been confirmed yet; the Loss Arc dub timeline from earlier this year gives a rough guide to how long a dub catch-up is likely to take.

Fans of Kaiju No. 8 are getting a bonus treat this autumn. A brand-new spin-off anime following everyone’s reluctant Section 3 captain, Gen Narumi, has been officially confirmed — and it’s coming soon. 鳴海の平日 / Narumi’s Week at Work premieres on 5 September 2026, and the first PV just dropped.

From the looks of it, this spin-off leans hard into the comedy side of Narumi’s character — think bureaucratic headaches, questionable delegation, and the kind of low-key disasters that only happen when you’re the strongest fighter in the Defence Force but absolutely hopeless at desk work.

The announcement PV dropped on 5 August from TOHO Animation’s official YouTube channel, giving us our first proper look at the spin-off’s tone and style. It captures Narumi’s chaotic energy perfectly while cranking the office comedy up to eleven.

Don’t let the comedic premise fool you. Narumi is still every bit the powerhouse we know from the main series — the action visual confirms his signature pink/purple lightning aesthetic is fully intact. Even a spin-off about Monday morning meetings isn’t walking away from the action entirely.

And then there’s this — Narumi surrounded by YAMAZON delivery boxes, clearly getting nothing done. This is the exact energy the show is going for, and we are absolutely here for it.
