LEGO PlayStation (72306): 1,911-Piece PS1 Replica Launches in October

Sony and the LEGO Group have revealed their first-ever official PlayStation collaboration: a 1,911-piece brick-built replica of the original PS1 console, announced at this week’s State of Play. The LEGO PlayStation (72306) goes on sale from 4 October 2026 — and it’s far more than a decorative grey box.

A Near 1:1 LEGO PlayStation Build

The set measures 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep — proportions close enough to the original that anyone who owned a PS1 will feel an instant jolt of recognition. The Power and Open buttons actually function, the disc lid lifts exactly as it did on the real machine, and the buildable wired controller plugs in with its four iconic face buttons recreated in brick form. A buildable memory card rounds out the package.

This is LEGO’s first PlayStation tie-up, following earlier retro console sets for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, and Sega Mega Drive. Steffi Steffen, Senior Director of Licensed Merchandise at Sony Interactive Entertainment, described the set as one that “celebrates the games, experiences, and the feelings of play we have shared as a community for over 30 years.”

Gran Turismo and Ape Escape Are Hiding Inside

The real showstopper is what lives underneath the lid. Lift it open and two mini dioramas are built inside the console body: a Gran Turismo (1997) scene with tiny racing cars on a miniature track, and an Ape Escape (1999) jungle tableau featuring the game’s signature monkey character. Both dioramas can be removed and displayed on their own — a clever Easter egg that rewards anyone who takes their time with the build.
