After nearly three years of silence since Noragami concluded, the manga duo Adachitoka announced on 4 September 2026 that their next series is coming. Yadoya no Oinu-sama (宿屋のお犬さま, loosely The Noble Dog of the Inn) will begin serialisation in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine with the November 2026 issue, going on sale in Japan on 6 October 2026. The debut chapter will appear on the magazine’s cover with lead colour pages — a marquee launch that underlines just how highly Kodansha values Adachitoka’s return.
What Yadoya no Oinu-sama Is About
The story follows Kasumi Kuromine, a middle school student who grew up surrounded by nature in rural Japan. During a school field trip, an unexpected incident sends her tumbling down a mountain — and when she lands, she finds herself in a world far from ordinary. The official announcement preview teases Kasumi’s encounter with a mysterious girl in this unfamiliar realm and glimpses of an animal companion tied to the series title. Oinu-sama is a respectful Japanese term for a dog or wolf spirit, hinting at folklore-influenced supernatural elements.
Adachitoka shared the announcement on their official X account (@adachitoka_PR) on 4 September 2026, alongside a preview spread in the October 2026 issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine. The linework on display is immediately recognisable — detailed, expressive character faces, careful hatching on backgrounds, and the quiet, atmospheric mood that characterised Noragami‘s best moments.
Adachitoka and the Legacy of Noragami
Noragami ran in Monthly Shonen Magazine from January 2011 to January 2024 — 13 years, 27 volumes, two anime seasons, an OVA, and a devoted global readership. The series followed the minor stray god Yato and his human weapon-partner Yukine through increasingly high-stakes supernatural conflicts, blending sharp comedy with emotionally bruising story arcs. Kodansha licensed it globally through Kodansha USA, and it was a consistent seller at manga stockists in Singapore throughout its run — particularly after the 2015 Doga Kobo anime brought new readers to the volumes.
Since Noragami‘s finale in early 2024, Adachitoka had gone quiet — no spin-offs, no art books, no serialisation news. Yadoya no Oinu-sama is their first new work in nearly three years, and the fact that Kodansha is giving it the cover and lead colour pages on debut signals strong editorial confidence in the series.
Where Singapore Fans Can Follow the New Series
From 6 October, the series will be readable in Japanese on Comic Days, Kodansha’s official digital platform for Monthly Shonen Magazine titles. An English licence has not been announced yet — treat any digital English availability as to be confirmed. Given that Noragami received a full Kodansha USA licence, a similar arrangement for Yadoya no Oinu-sama is plausible, but there is no timeline to share yet.
For physical volumes, tankobon releases typically come six months or more after serialisation begins. Singapore readers who followed Noragami at Kinokuniya or other local manga retailers can expect the earliest physical volume availability in mid-2027 at the soonest, assuming a licence is confirmed.
