Stupid Never Dies Gets 21 October Release — Sega Co-Publishing GPTRACK50’s Zombie Action RPG

GPTRACK50’s zombie action RPG Stupid Never Dies has a release date: 21 October 2026 on PS5 and PC globally (22 October in Japan), published by Sega. The announcement came today via Dengeki Online (Japanese) and the studio’s official site, making this one of the sharper action RPG releases of the year’s final quarter.

Who is GPTRACK50, and why should action fans pay attention?

GPTRACK50 was founded by veterans of Capcom’s most celebrated action franchises — the team’s track record spans Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and Resident Evil. The studio is headed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who accumulated decades of Capcom producing credits across those series. Stupid Never Dies is their first original IP, and the combat system reflects exactly where that pedigree points: fast, stylish, and mechanically deep.

The story casts you as Davy, self-described as the weakest zombie in monster society. His goal is to descend into a deadly otherworldly dungeon and defeat a boss called KOM in order to resurrect Julia — a human girl he loves who has been frozen. It’s deliberately unhinged in concept, and the second trailer makes clear that the tone matches.

Body Hack and Style Eat — the two systems that define it

Two interlocking mechanics sit at the core of how Stupid Never Dies plays. The first is Body Hack: Davy embeds mechanical gears directly into his zombie body across four slots — head, right arm, left arm, and legs. Each slot can hold gear with passive skills (stat buffs, crit bonuses, drop rate increases) or active abilities. Builds shift meaningfully depending on what you equip and what enemy types you’re about to fight.

The second is Style Eat: by consuming defeated enemies, Davy temporarily adopts their monster form and gains a completely different moveset. There are 11 monster styles — Zombie, Werewolf, Harpy, Golem, Vampire, Will-o’-the-Wisp, Cyclops, Snow Fairy, Merfolk, Lich, and Demon. From what the trailers show, chaining styles mid-combat is where the combo system really opens up, which is exactly the kind of mastery loop the DMC lineage does well.

Julia and the story keeping it grounded

Amid all the combat chaos, Julia gives Stupid Never Dies an emotional throughline. She’s the reason Davy picks every fight.

Two theme songs accompany the game: “Stupid Never Dies” for the opening and “Restless, Reckless, Never Die, Fearless” for the ending, both performed by characters from the game’s world. The music video for the opening theme premiered on 4 August 2026.

Editions, pricing, and what the DLC adds

Stupid Never Dies launches at USD 49.99 for the standard edition. A digital-only Glorious Idiot Edition is priced at USD 59.99 and includes the game plus the first DLC: the Tick Tack Bear: Delusion Effects Pack. That pack adds five bear-themed cosmetic accessories that alter both the visual effects of Davy’s attacks and the game’s BGM tracks — a nice way to customise the audio-visual feel of the experience.

In Japan, the pricing is ¥6,990 standard / ¥7,990 for the Glorious Idiot Edition (including tax). Singapore and SEA players should see the global USD pricing reflected through the PS Store and Steam when it launches 21 October — local SGD equivalents are to be confirmed closer to release.
