If you survived the hive the first time around, Cold Iron Studios wants you back — and this time you can bring a fourth squadmate. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has an official release date: August 25, 2026, arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
From Three to Four: Bigger Squads, Bigger Swarms
The biggest change from the 2021 original is the jump from three-player to four-player co-op, with full cross-play at launch across all platforms. That means your PS5 crew can link up with friends on Steam without a separate lobby. Given how much the franchise leans into overwhelming odds, a fourth pair of guns against a Xenomorph horde makes a real difference.

Cold Iron Studios has also introduced an element-based weapon mod system, letting squads tailor their loadouts against different threat types rather than defaulting to the same pulse-rifle-and-smartgun combo every run. Alongside returning class archetypes, a new fully customizable Specialist class rounds out the roster — useful for players who want to fine-tune their role rather than pick a preset.
New Threats Beyond the Xenomorphs

Xenomorphs are still the main event, but the sequel adds two new categories of enemy. Pathogen horrors — bio-engineered monsters tied to the experimental compound introduced in recent Alien universe lore — and Weyland-Yutani combat synths join the roster, meaning squads will face human-built threats alongside the alien swarm. Smarter enemy AI is also promised across the board.

Editions, Pricing, and the 40th Anniversary Hook
Two editions are confirmed for launch. The Standard Edition is priced at USD 49.99. The 40th Anniversary Premium Edition at USD 69.99 leans into a milestone worth noting: 2026 marks 40 years since James Cameron’s Aliens hit cinemas in 1986, and the Premium Edition wraps in two cosmetic packs — the Ripley’s Hive Exterminator Pack and Herk Mondo’s Pest Pack — alongside an in-game bonus tied to the anniversary theme.
For fans of Alien: Romulus, there is also a standalone DLC: Rain Jackson’s Star Pack at USD 9.99, which brings protagonist Rain’s outfit and a cryoweapon-modified pulse rifle into the game.
