The Final Arc Announcement

Sumi Eno posted on X confirming that After God has entered its last story arc, with the creator actively working on chapters that will bring the gods-versus-humanity conflict to its conclusion. The manga had been on hiatus since 14 July 2026, following the early-access release of chapters 106 and 107 on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday platform — putting the series just past the hundred-chapter mark before the final sprint begins.

What Is After God?

If the series is new to you: After God is set thirty years after god-like beings landed in Japan, reducing parts of Tokyo to rubble and leaving behind vast Danger Zones that humans cannot safely enter. The story follows Anti-God researcher Sachiyuki Tokinaga and a high-schooler named Waka Kamikura — a girl with a hidden connection to the gods and a personal drive for revenge — as they piece together how to do the impossible: kill a god.

The manga has been running on Shogakukan’s MangaONE and Ura Sunday web platforms since August 2021. Japan is up to ten compiled volumes, and the series earned eighth place in the web manga category of the 2023 Next Manga Award. It sits comfortably in the school-action-supernatural lane that fans of Jujutsu Kaisen or Dandadan tend to enjoy.

Where Singapore Readers Can Catch Up

English readers are well covered. Comikey carries the digital English version with bi-weekly Monday chapter drops — accessible directly from Singapore with no region barrier. VIZ Media publishes the print volumes under its VIZ Signature label, with nine English volumes available; volume 10 is expected to follow.

If you have been putting it off, the final arc announcement is actually a good nudge to start. A confirmed endgame makes the full run feel intentional rather than indefinite, and ten volumes is a very manageable binge before the finale chapters arrive. What to Expect in Chapter 36 (No Spoilers)

The chapter continues the standoff against Hidari and Jura — two of the Shinju — with Boruto and Sarada executing a high-risk reverse-trap strategy. Kashin Koji is at the centre of this chapter in a significant way, and preview panels hint that his next move may shake up the trust dynamic within Konoha’s leadership. Code is watching from the sidelines, and he’s not sitting still.

This is a chapter built more on tension and character beats than action spectacle — the kind of chapter the series needs to set up what’s coming. Amado’s scheme is also moving forward in ways that start to pull several plot threads together.

The Anime Adaptation Has Been Announced

If you prefer watching to reading, there’s good news: a Boruto: Two Blue Vortex anime adaptation has been officially confirmed. Studio Pierrot will handle production under a seasonal model — a deliberate shift from the weekly format of the original Boruto series. Crunchyroll is the confirmed international streaming partner, meaning Singapore fans will have access when it airs. No premiere date has been set yet.

Catching Up Before You Dive In

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex launched in August 2023 after a significant time-skip from the original Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga. What Is Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (published in Japan as Jujutsu Kaisen ≡) is a direct sequel to the original manga, set in the year 2086 — 68 years after the Culling Game that defined the series’ final arc. Written by series creator Gege Akutami with artwork by Yuji Iwasaki, the story kicks off when an alien race known as the Simurians arrives on Earth in a spacecraft. Unlike most sci-fi aliens, the Simurians are capable of wielding Jujutsu Sorcery — and they’re not invaders. They’re looking for a new home.

The manga ran as a limited serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2025 through early 2026, collected into three volumes. The final volume, Volume 3, was published in Japan on 1 May 2026.

Meet the New Okkotsu Siblings — and an Alien Diplomat

The three leads bring both a sense of legacy and something genuinely new to the JJK universe:

Tsurugi Okkotsu — grandson of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zen’in, the elder brother and a skilled jujutsu sorcerer
Yuka Okkotsu — Tsurugi’s younger sister, equally capable, and described as having an overpowered cursed technique of her own
Marulu Val Vol Yelvori (Maru) — the Simurian diplomat assigned to partner with the Okkotsu siblings; sent to demonstrate that his people can coexist with humanity

Fans of the original series will immediately recognise the weight of those surnames. Yuta Okkotsu was one of the most powerful sorcerers in the main run, and seeing his grandchildren carry that legacy into a sci-fi setting is a compelling hook even before you get into the actual story.

The MAPPA-Produced PV — a Taste of a Potential Anime

To commemorate the final volume’s release, Studio MAPPA — the team behind the JJK TV anime — produced a special animated PV for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (Japanese). The clip surpassed three million views within 12 hours of going live on the official Jump Channel, with many viewers noting it looked indistinguishable from an actual anime episode. No full adaptation has been announced yet, but the PV’s existence — and the audience response to it — makes one seem increasingly likely. Watch this space, especially with MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary event coming up on 19 June.

Three Volumes, All Out Now — English Print in Spring 2027

All three volumes of the manga are complete and readable in English right now via MANGA Plus by Shueisha (free, with ads) and the VIZ Media app. If you want to catch up before the physical editions arrive, there’s nothing stopping you.

VIZ Media’s Spring 2027 slate announcement also included the Slam Dunk Deluxe Edition and the first English release of Detective Conan in omnibus format — a strong season for manga fans overall.

Last words

JJK’s universe just got bigger — and stranger. If you’re a fan of the original series who hasn’t dipped into Modulo yet, this is a good moment to start: all chapters are free online, the physical English volumes are confirmed, and a MAPPA anime adaptation feels like a matter of when rather than if.
