BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X Heads to Switch 2 on 13 August — Platinum Joins Free

BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on 13 August 2026, and it brings one of the franchise’s most beloved characters with it. Developer 91Act and publisher Astrolabe Games have confirmed that Platinum — the hammer-swinging, bubble-flinging magical girl from BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma — joins the roguelite roster in a free major content update dropping on the same day across all platforms. Pre-orders for the Switch 2 Edition opened today.

Platinum’s moveset translates into BBEE X’s fast-paced 2D roguelite action with exactly the chaotic flair her fans expect. The announcement screenshots show her launching rainbow-arcing magical blasts and triggering full-screen star explosions that fill the arena with sparkle and fire — a playstyle that should feel very different from the more straightforward brawlers already in the game.

The free August 13 update also brings an upgraded Training Space and new branching route options for each run. That second addition is particularly welcome: more diverging paths between attempts means each run through the Sea of Possibility feels less predictable, which has a real impact on long-term replayability.

Switch 2 Edition — What You Actually Get

The Switch 2 Edition is a native build with enhanced visuals, an improved frame rate and GameShare support — so you can invite a friend into your session even if they don’t own a copy. Exclusive cosmetics for Switch 2 players include the Old World Fantasy Platinum palette and a Dango Balloon chibi avatar, a small but fun differentiator for early adopters.

For players who already own BBEE X on the original Nintendo Switch, the Upgrade Pack costs just US$1.99 — making it one of the most affordable Switch-to-Switch-2 upgrades out there. The stand-alone Switch 2 digital version is priced at US$24.99, consistent with what the game cost at launch. The title is listed on the Nintendo Southeast Asia eShop, so Singapore players can pre-order directly.

Free Content for Everyone on All Platforms

The biggest news for existing players is that the August 13 update is free across every platform BBEE X currently runs on: PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch. Platinum, the revamped Training Space and the new run-branching options arrive for everyone, no additional purchase required. Singapore players who picked up the game at launch on PS5 or PC get a meaningful content refresh at no extra cost.

BBEE X launched in February 2026 to strong critical reception for its stylish 2D action, tight roguelite loop and deep BlazBlue fan service. With Platinum’s addition and the Switch 2 native build both landing on 13 August, it’s shaping up to be one of the better mid-year content moments for fans of the franchise. BlazBlue: Central Fiction Gets Its First New Character in Nine Years

Arc System Works dropped a genuine surprise at EVO 2026 in Las Vegas on Saturday: Trinity Glassfille, one of the most iconic never-playable figures in the BlazBlue universe, is finally joining BlazBlue: Central Fiction as a fully playable DLC character. She is the game’s first new fighter in nine years — and for anyone who has followed this anime fighter since its arcade days, that announcement landed like a gut punch in the best possible way.

Who Is Trinity Glassfille?

Trinity Glassfille has been woven into the BlazBlue story since the very first game, Calamity Trigger. As one of the legendary Six Heroes — the warriors who ended the Dark War a century before the main timeline — she carries enormous lore weight. Trained at the Mage’s Guile, she developed formidable expertise in both sorcery and alchemy, and her defining trait is a compassion so deep she has always found it impossible to view even enemies without empathy.

Despite that, she was never selectable in any game in the series. She existed in story mode, dialogue, and cutscenes, but never under your thumbs in a match. Arc System Works confirmed the change in a brief but electrifying reveal at EVO 2026, dropping a new character illustration drawn by series creator Toshimichi Mori. Per the official statement, as reported by Gematsu: “Trinity Glassfille, a key character who has appeared since the early stages of the BlazBlue story, will finally be joining the roster as a playable character.”

Nine Years Since the Last New Fighter

The last DLC character added to Central Fiction was Jubei in 2017 — also a fan-demanded, long-teased figure. That was nine years ago. The game released its final update and went quiet, and for a stretch it looked like the roster was permanently closed.

What kept the community alive was Arc System Works’ rollback netcode update, which gave Central Fiction a genuine second life online. Competitive scenes across Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia kept the game going, with Singapore players among those running sets and local events long after the game’s commercial window had closed. The EVO 2026 bracket for Central Fiction this weekend drew some of the sharpest entrants in years. Producer Riku Ozawa acknowledged the gap in the pre-announcement tease, noting it had “been many years since this game released” and crediting fan support for making new character development possible at all.

What to Expect From Her Moveset

No gameplay footage has been shown — Ozawa was upfront that development only recently got underway. But Trinity’s character background offers strong hints. Her mastery of sorcery and alchemy, combined with a personality that avoids direct confrontation, points toward a zoner archetype: a fighter who controls space from range, deploys projectiles, and punishes opponents who rush in. Central Fiction‘s existing cast leans heavily toward rushdown and pressure characters, so a clean zoner would fill a meaningful gap in the meta.

The DLC will be released on PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam) — the same platforms that received the rollback netcode update. No PS5 native version, no Switch port, and no Xbox version have been announced. No release window or pricing has been set, and a proper gameplay reveal is expected at a future Arc System Works event.

A Big EVO Weekend for Arc System Works

Trinity’s announcement is the headline item in a busy EVO 2026 showing for the studio. Robo-Ky lands in Guilty Gear -Strive- on July 2, Zohar was confirmed for Under Night In-Birth II, and Id DLC plus a Switch 2 port were revealed for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Across the whole weekend, Arc System Works has made it clear they are not slowing down — and bringing Central Fiction back into the conversation after nine years of silence is exactly the kind of moment that reminds you why the FGC keeps showing up. For Singapore fans who stuck with the game through the post-launch years, that makes the wait feel worth it.

Arc System Works Showcase 2026: Every Reveal

Arc System Works aired its 2026 showcase early this morning — streamed at 06:00 JST and now available in full archive — and it delivered more than anyone was expecting. BlazBlue: Central Fiction is getting its first new playable character in roughly nine years, Guilty Gear -Strive- teased its next DLC fighter Robo-Ky, and a brand-new tactical RPG went up for pre-order today. The Singapore FGC has a very good weekend incoming.

BlazBlue Central Fiction: First New Character in Nine Years

The moment that had FGC timelines erupting: a new playable character is coming to BlazBlue: Central Fiction. BBCF received its last DLC addition — Jubei — roughly nine years ago, and the game has been considered a finished product ever since. Announcing a new character now, out of nowhere, is exactly the kind of surprise EVO weekend is made for.

Arc System Works has not named or shown the character yet. Full details — who it is, what they play like, and presumably a gameplay trailer — are all set for EVO 2026, this Saturday and Sunday, 27–28 June. For Singapore players still running BBCF at locals or keeping an eye on the regional competitive scene, set a reminder: the EVO main stream this weekend is not one to miss.

Guilty Gear -Strive-: Robo-Ky Teaser and New Blazing Pass

On the Guilty Gear -Strive- side, the broadcast opened with a teaser clip for Robo-Ky, the fan-favourite robotic counterpart to Ky Kiske. The full reveal trailer is also reserved for EVO 2026, so Saturday is shaping up to be appointment viewing for anyone invested in ASW’s fighters. GG Strive remains one of the most-played fighting games at local and regional Southeast Asian events, and Robo-Ky has been one of the most-requested returning characters from earlier entries in the series.

Separately, the next Blazing Pass — “Duel 2: Ennui Protocol” — launches on 2 July. It includes Ky’s new weapon skin and a “Country” outfit for Queen Dizzy.

Kamibou no Kurifa — New Tactical RPG, Out 24 September

Beyond the fighting game headlines, Arc System Works and studio Unite Plus announced an entirely new game: 神貌のクリファ (Kamibou no Kurifa). It is a Tactical Counter Timeline RPG set in a version of modern-day Shibuya where supernatural entities known as kai (怪異) are bleeding into reality. Two protagonists — who each carry their own kai — investigate the source of the outbreak.

A teaser trailer is out now (below), and pre-orders opened today on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Epic Games Store. Physical copies are also available to pre-order from participating retailers from today, with early-purchase bonuses.

Dave the Diver Complete Edition — PS5 and Switch 2 on 8 October

One of the showcase’s cleanest surprises for console players: Dave the Diver Complete Edition is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on 8 October 2026. It includes the base game plus the DREDGE and Godzilla collaboration DLCs that were sold separately on PC. If you held off on the underwater adventure waiting for a console release, this is the one. SGD pricing and pre-order details have not been confirmed yet.

The Rest of the Showcase

Donutal (ドーナタル) — a Papers, Please-style alien examination game set in the year 2206, where you wake from cryosleep to become Earth’s Star Inspector and judge arriving extraterrestrials through dialogue — showed off a systems trailer. A free demo is already live on Steam. Demons Night Fever, a new strategy RPG helmed by Disgaea series director Sohei Shinkawa, debuted its first gameplay look; the hook is a mechanic called the Servant Abuse System where sacrificing your own allies makes your forces progressively more powerful. It targets 2026 on PS5, Switch and Steam, with a developer panel at Anime Expo on 4 July. Action roguelike Absolum confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version, and action adventure DAMON and BABY rolled out Ver 2.00 today, adding the new “Blood Edge Lord’s Trial” mode.
