Kotobukiya’s hugely popular ARCANADEA bishōjo plastic model series is making the jump to television — and the Arcanadea Engage Fest 2026 event in Shinagawa, Tokyo on 29 August delivered everything fans were waiting on in one shot: the first teaser PV, the full cast line-up, and a January 2027 premiere window confirmed.
From 700,000 Model Kits to the Small Screen
Launched in December 2021, ARCANADEA is a line of highly customisable bishōjo plastic model kits built around an original SF x Fantasy concept, with character designs by necömi. The franchise has shipped over 700,000 units as of June 2026 — a meaningful number for a specialty hobby line — and the kits have built a passionate fanbase across Japan and export markets, including Singapore’s active plastic model community. A TV anime adaptation was teased last year, and the Engage Fest 2026 is where the production finally came into full focus: studio, director, cast, and a proper teaser PV all unveiled at once.
The Story: A Tiny Girl Falls from the Sky
ARCANADEA is set in a near-future world reshaped by the discovery of Arcana Particles, a next-generation energy source that has quietly transformed civilisation. The protagonist, Shogo Kuga, is a disengaged university student whose ordinary life is upended when a palm-sized girl named Lumitea falls from the sky and addresses him as “Master.” From that moment, Shogo gets pulled into the mysteries of the Arcana Particles, a catastrophic past event called the “Night of Destruction,” and a string of strange phenomena erupting around the world — all connected to objects known as Arcana Stones.

Director Keiichirō Kawaguchi — whose credits include Sket Dance and Spy Classroom — leads the production at Yokohama Animation Lab. Series composition is handled by Atsuhiro Tomioka, whose credits include Pokémon XY and Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. Music is composed by Yuki Hayashi and Yuki Furuhashi.
Meet the Arcana Girls
Each character in ARCANADEA corresponds to one of Kotobukiya’s plastic model kits, so the roster is as varied as the catalogue. Lumitea is bright and angelic in white armour and feathered wings; Velretta takes a darker route, dressed in black with horns and a tail. The rest of the cast brings a similarly distinct visual identity, which bodes well for a series that lives or dies on how well its characters translate from three-dimensional kit to animated screen.
When and Where to Watch
ARCANADEA premieres in Japan in January 2027 on TV Asahi’s nationwide 24-station network in the NUMAnimation late-night slot, with a simultaneous run on BS Asahi. No international streaming partner has been announced yet — but TV Asahi anime regularly find their way onto Crunchyroll for Southeast Asian audiences.
