Serious Sam: Shatterverse, the multiverse co-op roguelite FPS from Behaviour Interactive and Devolver Digital, launches tomorrow — Sunday, 31 August 2026 — on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Five Sams Enter the Shatterverse

The premise is entertainingly over-the-top: series villain Uber Mental has fractured the walls between dimensions, and now up to five players each control a different dimensional variant of Serious Sam, forced to work together to repair the multiverse. The game unfolds as wave-based runs through hand-crafted arenas, with procedurally shifted layouts ensuring each session plays out differently from the last.

The game was made with the blessing of Croteam, the Croatian studio behind the original Serious Sam series. John Dick, who has voiced Sam for much of the franchise’s run, returns for the role across all five dimensional versions of the character.

How the Roguelite Loop Works

Each run has your squad collecting weapon upgrades, boons, and run modifiers as you push through increasingly dangerous arena waves. Death ends the run — but permanent unlocks and progression carry over between attempts, letting your team build toward tougher bosses over time. Shatterverse features five lieutenants of Uber Mental as mid-run boss encounters, each demanding a different team approach.

Devolver Digital put it simply: “Hold onto your butts, because multiversal multiplayer roguelite Serious Sam: Shatterverse is charging onto PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on Aug. 31.”

The developer behind the game is Behaviour Interactive — the Montreal studio best known for creating Dead by Daylight. This is their first foray into an FPS format and the first major Serious Sam release in several years. The project marks the franchise’s 25th anniversary year.
