Three brand-new Z Mega Evolution forms are heading to Pokémon Champions on 9 September 2026, kicking off Regulation Set M-C and marking the first time these powerhouse forms from Pokémon Legends: Z-A enter the competitive battle game. Singapore players can expect the update to go live at 10:00 AM SGT.
Three Z Mega Evolutions Confirmed for Regulation Set M-C
Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara unveiled the update at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco on 30 August. All three new Z Mega Evolutions bring unique competitive abilities:
- Mega Lucario Z — gains Aura Break, halving damage received from contact attacks and making it an unexpectedly tanky Fighting-type presence.
- Mega Absol Z — shifts to Dark/Ghost typing and picks up Sharpness, boosting cutting moves like Shadow Claw and Night Slash by 1.5×.
- Mega Garchomp Z — gains Levitate, granting immunity to Ground-type moves and bypassing entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web.
Two additional Pokémon — Rillaboom and Baxcalibur — also join the M-C roster. A brief flash of Mega Heatran appeared at the trailer’s end, though The Pokémon Company has not confirmed it for Regulation Set M-C yet — one to watch.
Regulation Set M-C: What Changes, and When
Regulation Sets govern which Pokémon species and held items are legal in ranked battles. Set M-C expands the legal pool inherited from Sets M-A and M-B, adding the three Z Mega Evolutions and the two newly arriving base Pokémon. The window runs from 9 September 2026 at 02:00 UTC (10:00 AM SGT) through 2 December 2026 at 01:59 UTC.
Pokémon Champions is free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android, and has been live globally since 17 June 2026. The Pokémon Company’s Official Asia Press Site confirms the update covers Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines alongside the global rollout, so local players are good to go from day one.
