The three Magic Knights are voiced by some of the biggest names working in anime today. Ayane Sakura (Ochako in My Hero Academia, Yor in Spy x Family) takes the lead as Hikaru Shidō; Rumi Ōkubo voices Umi Ryūzaki; and Rie Takahashi — Emilia in Re:ZERO and Megumin in KonoSuba — voices Fū Hōōji. Princess Emeraude is voiced by Saori Hayami, with Yuki Ono as the antagonist Zagato and Mika Kikuchi as the magical creature Mokona.

The three cast additions announced at Anime Expo complete the core group: Yuki Kaji as the mage Clef, Emiri Katō as Presea, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio. It is a near-unprecedented concentration of top-tier voice talent for a single series, and it signals that TMS is treating this revival as a prestige production from the ground up.

There, the mage Clef tells them that the world is dying: its Pillar, Princess Emeraude, has been kidnapped by the high priest Zagato, and only three fated Magic Knights can summon the legendary Rune-Gods (giant mechanical spirits) and save her.

Originally serialised by CLAMP in Monthly Shōnen Magazine from 1993 to 1995 and adapted into an anime by TMS in 1994, the series was groundbreaking — one of the earliest isekai to feature magical-girl protagonists who also pilot giant mecha, a combination that still feels fresh decades on. Many Singapore fans in their 30s and 40s caught the original on local TV, and the emotional gut-punch of the story’s mid-series twist remains legendary among those who experienced it unspoiled. The Magic Knights — Cast and Creative Team

The new series re-tells the story of three middle school girls — Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji — who are transported from Tokyo Tower to the magical world of Cephiro, tasked by the imprisoned Princess Emeraude with becoming the legendary Magic Knights. The three leads are voiced by Ayane Sakura (Hikaru), Rumi Okubo (Umi), and Rie Takahashi (Fuu).

CLAMP’s beloved shojo isekai Magic Knight Rayearth is getting a full anime reboot — confirmed for October 2026 on TV Asahi, with an all-star production team, a stacked new cast, and a world premiere at Anime Expo 2026 on 4 July in Los Angeles.

What Is Magic Knight Rayearth?

Originally a manga by CLAMP — the all-female artist collective behind Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, and xxxHolic — Magic Knight Rayearth ran in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1996 across 29 chapters. The story follows three middle-school girls — Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji — who are suddenly transported from Tokyo Tower to the magical world of Cephiro, where they must become legendary Magic Knights to save the captive Princess Emeraude. The original 1994 anime series became a touchstone for a generation of fans across Asia, blending magical girl trappings with mecha and high fantasy in a way that felt genuinely fresh at the time.

Decades of fan demand later, TMS Entertainment and E&H production have answered the call. The new series is planned and produced by UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS and animated by E&H production — the studio founded by Sunghoo Park, director of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 and Fire Force. That pedigree alone signals this is not a cheap anniversary cash-in.

The Dream Team Behind the Reboot

Cardcaptor Sakura fans, this one is for you. KaraQ’s new mobile game Cardcaptor Sakura: Key of Memories (カードキャプターさくら 思い出の鍵, Omoide no Kagi) launches on iOS and Android in Japan on 25 June 2026 — just five days away — and the nostalgia is already hitting hard.

What Is Cardcaptor Sakura: Key of Memories?

Developed by KaraQ, Key of Memories is a decorative diorama collection game centred on Sakura Kinomoto, CLAMP’s beloved card-capturing heroine. The core loop has you collecting miniature figures of Sakura in over 100 different outfits — ranked from N to SR rarity — and arranging them inside fully customisable room dioramas. Think less dungeon-crawler, more cosy collector: it is the kind of game that rewards careful arrangement and an unapologetic love of costume variety.

The roster goes beyond Sakura herself. Kero-chan, Tomoyo Daidouji, Syaoran Li, and Toya Kinomoto are all confirmed to appear, so the full Tomoeda gang is along for the diorama ride.
