Six years after its conclusion, The Promised Neverland is coming back. Original creators Kaiu Shirai (story) and Posuka Demizu (art) are reuniting for “War vs. Peace” — a brand-new 36-page one-shot set after the events of the manga. It drops in Weekly Shonen Jump on 24 August 2026 as the centrepiece of the series’ 10th anniversary campaign. If you were a fan and drifted away after that second anime season, this is your reminder to come back.
What “War vs. Peace” Is About
Plot details are being kept under wraps ahead of publication, but Shueisha has confirmed the one-shot picks up after the manga’s ending — meaning the story is set in the world outside the farms that Emma, Norman, and Ray sacrificed so much to reach. This is the first time the original creative duo have collaborated since the manga concluded in June 2020. The 10th anniversary artwork released alongside the announcement already offers a glimpse of the trio as adults, which is exactly the kind of epilogue fans have been wanting.
The one-shot is a standalone chapter, not the start of a new ongoing series. At 36 pages, it’s roughly double the length of a regular Jump chapter — substantial enough to feel like a real reunion, not just a one-page tribute.
All Five 10th Anniversary Projects
The Promised Neverland one-shot is part of a five-project anniversary campaign that Shueisha formally announced for the manga’s August 2016 serialisation debut:
- New one-shot “War vs. Peace” — Weekly Shonen Jump, 24 August 2026
- Full-scale stage musical — in development for a Tokyo premiere in winter 2026
- Full-colour digital manga — the original 181-chapter run recoloured and released digitally
- Pop-up store — featuring new anniversary illustrations by Posuka Demizu
- Online lottery — an official merchandise lottery that launched in July 2026
Alongside those five projects, Shueisha is offering the first ten volumes of The Promised Neverland free to read on Shonen Jump+ and Zebrack through 31 August — the best possible on-ramp for anyone who missed the original run.
Catching Up Before 24 August
When The Promised Neverland ran from 2016 to 2020, it stood out in Weekly Shonen Jump for relying on intelligence over combat. Emma, Norman, and Ray had to outthink a system designed to consume them — and that puzzle-box plotting connected with Singapore readers who were hungry for something different from the typical shonen formula. The manga has sold over 40 million copies worldwide and won the Shogakukan Award’s Shonen category; the 2019 anime adaptation (Season 1, CloverWorks) remains one of the best-received anime of that era.
