Two quality-of-life upgrades are landing in Monster Hunter Wilds this August that hunters in the region will want to know about: a free Prologue Demo with save data carry-over, and a patch that moves all 26 event and challenge quests fully offline. The Ver.1.042 update drops on 4 August 2026 at 11:30 AM JST across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), with the demo following on 5 August.
All 26 Event Quests Go Offline
Until now, only one event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds was playable without an internet connection. The Ver.1.042 patch removes that restriction across the board: all 26 available event quests and challenge quests will be accessible offline after the update. The quest list UI is also being reorganised so currently available quests appear at the top for faster access.
Permanently joining the roster is the first anniversary quest featuring a guaranteed gold-crown Pupuporuporu — the game’s self-declared least-hunted monster. The ★10 event quest requires HR 100+ and offers armour pieces and limited charm variants as rewards. For hunters across Southeast Asia where internet consistency can be unpredictable, offline event access is a meaningful upgrade.
Prologue Demo: Try Before You Hunt
The Prologue Demo arrives on 5 August 2026, free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). The headline feature is save data transfer: progress from the demo carries straight into the full game, provided no existing Monster Hunter Wilds save is present on the account. Capcom has said specific demo content details will be shared closer to the launch.
This is effectively a timed second-chance entry point for anyone who has been watching the hunt from the sidelines since the game’s original release — and a ready argument for friends who are still on the fence.
The patch also clears several bugs: a Guardian Fulgur Anjanath texture rendering issue, an Arch-tempered Arkveld attack effect displacement, and a Sword & Shield trap placement fix via the radial menu. PC players should note Capcom’s driver advisory: use NVIDIA GeForce 581.57 or newer; AMD Radeon 25.10.2 and later has known issues.
Looking Ahead to Ascendance
Capcom has been clear that Ver.1.042 is partly designed to expand the player base ahead of the 2027 expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. The expansion reveal trailer below is still the clearest look at what’s coming. The free demo gives any hunter who stepped away a low-commitment way back in before Ascendance arrives.
