Capcom has started a daily trailer countdown for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance — the major expansion due in 2027 — timing the reveals to build momentum ahead of the first playable hands-on at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs 17–21 September at Makuhari Messe, Tokyo.
What Is the Boost Bracer?
The centrepiece of today’s reveal is the Boost Bracer, a brand-new hunting mechanic that gives every one of the game’s 14 weapon types its own dedicated “Boosted Action”. The loop is straightforward: stay aggressive and land hits to build Boost Bracer energy, then fire off a Boost Driver attack — unique to each weapon — to activate your weapon’s special ability. According to Capcom’s official X post, the goal is to expand hunter options without overhauling the core combat identity.

Great Sword Goes First
The first Boosted Action Breakdown video focuses on the Great Sword. With the Boost Bracer charged, Great Sword users can dash forward using the Boost Driver, follow up with explosive charged slashes, and chain together offset attacks that previously required a reset. For a weapon defined by its deliberate, high-commitment swings, the Boost Bracer injects genuine mobility and a new layer of combo depth — without stripping away the satisfying weight that makes the weapon feel powerful.

14 Weapons, 14 Daily Trailers Through September
Capcom’s plan is one Boosted Action Breakdown video per day, working through all 14 weapon classes throughout the month — Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive, Lance and the rest — each showing how the Boost Bracer reworks that weapon’s specific kit. By the time TGS opens on 17 September, hunters on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC should have a complete picture of Ascendance’s expanded combat before even picking up a controller at the show floor.
What Singapore Hunters Need to Know About Ascendance

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) in 2027 — an exact date has not been announced. A Nintendo Switch 2 version of the base game is in development, though Capcom has not confirmed whether Ascendance will arrive day-and-date on Switch 2 or follow later. Singapore players on PS5 or Steam can expect day-one access given Wilds’ existing availability here. If you’re planning a TGS trip this September, the Ascendance hands-on will be one of the floor’s big draws. For more on Wilds and the rest of our Game News coverage, check back on GameTrader.SG.
