Rockstar finally showed its hand. The Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — a roughly 26-minute gameplay showcase — premiered on Netflix on 27 August before going free on Rockstar’s YouTube channel the same evening. It’s the longest gameplay reveal Rockstar has ever done, and for Singapore fans who’ve had GTA VI pre-ordered since June, it delivered. The release date is locked in: 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
We covered how and when to watch the Extended Look ahead of its premiere and broke down the pre-event leaks last week. Now the official version is out — here’s everything Rockstar confirmed.
Meet Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos
The Extended Look centres on the two protagonists Rockstar has been teasing since the first trailer. Jason Duval is a former military man turned drug runner working out of Leonida. Lucia Caminos, his partner, is recently released from prison and fighting her way back into the criminal underworld. Their relationship sits at the heart of the story — the Extended Look showed them bickering over jobs, backing each other up in firefights, and splitting up to handle different angles of the same mission.

Players can switch between Jason and Lucia dynamically during missions — the game decides which character’s skills are needed moment to moment, though you can apparently call for your partner as AI backup even when playing as the other.

New Gameplay Mechanics — A Big Upgrade From GTA 5
The gunplay is the biggest moment-to-moment improvement. Rockstar has rebuilt combat closer to Red Dead Redemption 2’s more grounded feel — with a dash of Max Payne 3’s weight — replacing GTA 5’s floaty shooting with something considerably more tactical. Extended police chases are physically punishing now: stay wanted long enough and your characters visibly deteriorate, eventually forcing you to sleep before they can continue.
Other confirmed mechanics:
- Six-star wanted system — up from five in GTA 5
- Criminal profiling — efficient crimes build a “good criminal” reputation that unlocks opportunities
- Wardrobe and weapon stashing — you can hide clothes and guns in your vehicle to evade police identification; switch outfits to shake a pursuit
- Non-destructive vehicle theft — use a slim jim instead of smashing windows, reducing the chance of triggering witnesses
- Social media virality — an in-game platform where events (yours and others’) can go viral, affecting how NPCs treat you
- Seamless cutscene transitions — missions flow into cutscenes and back without loading screens
The World of Leonida
The setting is Leonida — a fictional Florida-inspired state that includes a modern Vice City alongside surrounding swamps, suburbs, and coastline. The Extended Look confirmed a dense variety of environments: trap houses in rough neighbourhoods, neon nightclubs, beach resorts, diners, salons, and seaside Bayside with its graffiti-covered waterways.
Activities confirmed include basketball, track and dirt-bike racing, scuba diving, kayaking, fan boating, mini-golf, zoo visits, gun ranges, gym workouts (membership required), pool, and base jumping. The world detail shown was extraordinary — NPCs carry on their own business, traffic behaves dynamically, and weather visibly affects how missions play out.

Release Date: 19 November 2026 — Singapore Pre-Orders Are Open
Rockstar confirmed the release date has not moved: 19 November 2026, launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S simultaneously. No PC date has been announced — Rockstar’s pattern with previous titles suggests PC will follow in 2027, but nothing is confirmed.
Singapore pre-orders are live now at major game retailers and electronics chains islandwide. If you pre-ordered the Special or Collector’s Edition through the Rockstar Games store, your order stands — check your confirmation for delivery estimates. The standard edition on PS5 is priced at US$79.99 internationally; expect SG pricing to be confirmed closer to launch on the PlayStation Store SG.
The full Extended Look is now free to watch on Rockstar’s YouTube channel. Browse more game news for everything else coming this year.
