After years of delays and a publisher change that few fans saw coming, Fate/Extra Record finally has a real date on the calendar: 28 January 2027, worldwide. Developer Type-Moon and new publisher ANIPLEX confirmed the news during Sony’s State of Play Japan on 3 September, dropping a full release-date trailer on the PlayStation channel at the same time.
What Is Fate/Extra Record?
Fate/Extra Record is a full remake of the original Fate/Extra, the PlayStation Portable RPG that brought the Moon Holy Grail War concept to a wider audience. In the original, players took the role of a Master competing in an elimination tournament held in SE.RA.PH — a digital world on the lunar surface — by summoning a Servant and crawling through dungeon floors to expose rival Servants’ True Names before the final confrontation.
The remake rebuilds the battle system around a strategic deck-building Command Card mechanic. Rather than the original’s fixed rock-paper-scissors Commands, players now construct their hand, read their opponent’s pattern, and make discard choices that change the tempo of each fight. The dungeon structure and the Moon Grail War story arc both return, but the visual and mechanical overhaul is substantial enough that it should read as a new experience for veterans of the PSP original.

Years of Delays and a Publisher Change
The road to a release date has been exceptionally long. Fate/Extra Record went through multiple projected windows over the years, and earlier in 2026 Bandai Namco Entertainment stepped away as publisher just months before what had been a planned spring 2026 release. ANIPLEX was announced as the replacement publisher on 31 August 2026 — barely four days before the State of Play date reveal confirmed everything was back on track.
For Singapore fans who have been running daily quests in Fate/Grand Order and following the franchise through its many anime adaptations, this is one of those moments that never felt entirely guaranteed to arrive. The Fate series has a deeply loyal following in Southeast Asia, and Fate/Extra in particular occupies a nostalgic place for players who imported the PSP original or followed it through fan translations.
Platforms, Editions and Pricing
The game launches across five platforms simultaneously: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Three editions are available at launch:
- Standard Edition — digital and physical; USD 59.99 on PS4, PS5 and PC; USD 69.99 on Switch 2
- Digital Deluxe Edition — USD 79.99; includes an arranged music pack, outfit bundles for each Servant, and a digital art book and full soundtrack
- Limited Edition — physical only; USD 89.99 (PS4/PS5), USD 99.99 (Switch 2); ships with a three-disc soundtrack in a SteelBook case and a hardcover art book
SGD pricing has not been announced at time of writing. Expect it to appear on PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop closer to the January launch. The physical Limited Edition should be available via major game retailers and electronics chains in Singapore, though regional stock allocation is to be confirmed.
Language Support
Fate/Extra Record ships with Japanese voice audio and on-screen subtitles in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. There is no English voice option. The Traditional and Simplified Chinese subtitle tracks mean the game is accessible across the broader SEA region without any localisation barrier, which is a meaningful improvement over the English-text-only original.
