SEGA has officially opened sign-ups for the Crazy Taxi: World Tour Closed Network Test, giving players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC their first chance to get behind the wheel before the game’s full 2027 release. The test is multiplayer-only — story and single-player content will not be included — but it covers two distinct competitive modes and two maps from the game’s West Coast setting.
Test Dates and How to Sign Up
The Closed Network Test runs from 12 September 2026, 8:00 AM SGT to 14 September 2026, 8:00 AM SGT (September 11, 5:00 PM PT to September 13, 5:00 PM PT). Participation is limited to selected applicants — sign-ups are open now and close on 1 September 2026 at approximately 3:00 PM SGT (August 31, 11:59 PM PT). Apply via the official SEGA Crazy Taxi page before that cutoff.
The test is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (both Steam and Xbox on PC), with full crossplay enabled across all three platforms. Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait for the full release.
Two Multiplayer Modes
The CNT includes two modes drawn from Crazy Taxi: World Tour’s multiplayer suite:
- Pickup Race — Up to six players race to collect and deliver as many passengers as possible before the clock runs out. The driver who earns the most money wins. Classic Crazy Taxi logic, scaled up for a full lobby.
- Cops ‘N’ Cabbies — A 3v3 asymmetric mode pitting taxi drivers against cops. Details on the cop-side objectives are still being kept light, but the setup is a team-based pursuit scenario.
The test covers 4 playable characters, 6 cars, and 2 maps from the game’s West Coast setting — including the Sea Lion Wharf district visible in the new trailer above.
The West Coast Setting
The map shown most prominently in the trailer is built around a sun-drenched American West Coast city — wide boulevards, seafront districts, and the kind of ramp-dense urban layout the original Crazy Taxi made famous. SEGA is clearly building on the DNA of the Dreamcast original: big, colourful, and unapologetically loud. Sea Lion Wharf, the waterfront destination visible across several screenshots, gives taxi launches and aerial shortcuts a seaside backdrop that the franchise hasn’t had before.
Full Release in 2027
The full Crazy Taxi: World Tour launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The complete game will include story and single-player content not present in the September test.
