Son of Thanjai — Chola Empire RPG Gets Spring 2027 Date on PS5, Xbox & Game Pass

A 30-person studio from Chennai just delivered one of the most striking reveals at Gamescom 2026. Son of Thanjai, the cinematic open-world action-RPG set in the ancient Chola Empire, is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass in Spring 2027 — and based on what developer Ayelet Studio has shown, it looks extraordinary.

The Story: A Betrayed Chola Prince Finding His Way Home

Son of Thanjai drops you into an alternate-history 11th-century Thanjavur — the beating heart of the Chola Empire — as Vinnendiran, a young prince who loses everything. Betrayed and exiled from the palace, he must traverse a fractured kingdom gripped by invasion and famine, learning what it truly means to lead rather than simply inherit.

Ayelet Studio has meticulously reconstructed the Chola world through the lens of the ancient Tamil Tinai system — a classical framework that categorised landscapes by mood and ecology. The result is a living open world of rice plains, coastal ports, temple courtyards, arid vassal territories, and market streets, populated by NPCs who respond dynamically to how Vinnendiran presents himself. As the studio puts it: “Life in Thanjai moves with or without you.”

Combat Built on Kalaripayattu — One of the World’s Oldest Martial Arts

The Surulvaal whip-sword spinning in a ring of fire in Son of Thanjai

The signature weapon is the Surulvaal — a flexible, ribbon-like whip-sword rooted in real South Indian martial traditions. Combat draws directly on Kalaripayattu, widely regarded as one of the oldest codified martial arts in the world, weaving acrobatic strikes, finishing chain attacks, and momentum-based combos into a fluid system. Alongside the Surulvaal, players wield the Aruvaal (a curved short blade) and the Valari (a traditional disc-like throwing weapon), each suited to different combat contexts.

There are no magical tracking instincts or glowing enemy outlines — stealth, intel gathering, and reading the environment are all part of the toolkit. Open-world traversal includes mounting horses, elephants, and bulls, and the Gamescom trailer shows how the world scales from intimate temple-street encounters to wide battlefield engagements.

Why Singapore Gamers Should Pay Attention

Singapore has one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant Tamil communities, and the Chola Empire sits at the heart of that heritage. The Cholas were not just a regional South Indian dynasty — at their peak, they were a maritime superpower whose naval reach extended across the Bay of Bengal into the Malay Peninsula and beyond, leaving architectural and cultural echoes across the region we now call home. Seeing that history rendered in Unreal Engine at this fidelity, as the backdrop for a fully realised open-world RPG, is genuinely unprecedented.

For Singapore gamers who have spent years playing through Norse, Greek, Japanese, and Feudal Chinese settings, Son of Thanjai offers something closer to our own cultural orbit — and it arrives day-one on Xbox Game Pass, meaning local subscribers can jump in without an additional purchase. No SGD pricing has been confirmed for standalone copies; we’ll update when that changes.

Persona 4 Revival Gameplay Trailer Reveals Baton Pass, Prime Time, and 5 New Features

ATLUS dropped a new gameplay features trailer for Persona 4 Revival yesterday, and it’s the most concrete look yet at how the February 2027 remake is reinventing the beloved Inaba murder mystery — from brand-new combat mechanics straight out of Persona 5 Royal’s playbook to a full vocal overhaul of Social Link scenes that the original never had.

Baton Pass and Send Flying: Persona 5-Style Combat Comes to Inaba

Two of the five newly confirmed mechanics slot into the modern ATLUS combat language that fans of Persona 5 Royal will recognise immediately. Baton Pass lets you hand off your 1 MORE turn to an ally — a key chain for exploiting enemy weaknesses across the whole party in one fluid sequence. Send Flying adds a satisfying physical wrinkle: land a normal attack on a status-afflicted shadow and it gets launched into nearby enemies, dealing collision damage and spreading the ailment on impact. Both mechanics make multi-shadow dungeon rooms feel dynamic in a way the original Persona 4 and its Golden revision never attempted.

Prime Time: The Series Finale That Ends Dungeon Rooms with Flair

The flashiest new system is Prime Time, a metre-filling mode that, once triggered, grants the whole party consecutive actions with all skill costs removed and all enemy resistances ignored. While it’s active you can chain Baton Passes freely before closing out with a team-wide Series Finale attack. Think of it as Persona 4 Revival’s supercharged all-out attack — one that rewards smart ailment management rather than just waiting for an opportunity to appear. Given how drawn-out the higher-floor dungeons could get in Golden, having a meter-driven “end this now” button that rewards positioning and ailment prep is a genuinely smart design addition.

Fully Voiced Events — Every Social Link Scene, Now with a Voice to Match

Beyond combat, the trailer confirms what Persona fans have been quietly hoping for since the remake was announced: Fully Voiced Events. Every Social Link interaction and main story dialogue exchange has been newly recorded, bringing the Social Link system up to the standard set by Persona 5 Royal. The original Persona 4 Golden had voice acting only in its dedicated anime cutscenes — now every Nanako dinner-table chat, every Dojima drive home, and every Junes hangout is fully performed. ATLUS has also previously confirmed that anime cutscenes are handled by MAPPA, so the two layers — voiced daily scenes and studio-animated set-pieces — complement each other across the whole story.

New Music From Riyota Kosuka — Alongside the Golden Classics

The fifth confirmed feature is a new music layer: ATLUS composer Riyota Kosuka has written original compositions for Persona 4 Revival alongside remixed versions of Shoji Meguro’s beloved original score, now with new vocals performed by Shiiori Sasaki. Whether the original tracks can be toggled on as an option hasn’t been confirmed — ATLUS offered that choice in Persona 3 Reload, and it would be a welcome one here for players who want the Golden nostalgia intact.

Persona 4 Revival: Yukiko Amagi Sizzle Trailer Is Here

ATLUS West has released a new character spotlight trailer for Persona 4 Revival, this time putting Yukiko Amagi in the spotlight. The “Yukiko Sizzle” trailer dropped today and gives fans a proper look at the Amagi Inn heiress in action ahead of the game’s February 18, 2027 release.

Who Is Yukiko Amagi?

Yukiko is a classmate of the protagonist at Yasogami High School and the daughter of the owners of the renowned Amagi Inn in Inaba. Composed and poised on the surface, she carries a deep sense of responsibility about her family’s legacy — though her friends know a slightly airheaded, warmer side of her. Her closest friend is Chie Satonaka, and the two are inseparable both inside and outside the TV World.

In battle, Yukiko wields her Persona, Konohana Sakuya — a powerful Healer-type that commands fire magic and recovery skills, making her an anchor for any party composition. Fans who remember her from the original Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden will find her Revival incarnation both familiar and visually elevated, thanks to the game’s full 3D remake treatment.

The headline news for Singapore players: a free demo is live right now on every platform, including the Nintendo eShop and PSN — no pre-order or purchase required. What Is Moonlighter 2?

Moonlighter 2 is the sequel to Digital Sun’s 2018 cult hit — a top-down action RPG built around a clever double life: by day, you delve into procedurally generated dungeons hunting for loot; by night, you run your shop and set prices for the townsfolk. The original Moonlighter became a favourite on Switch and PC for the way it blended roguelite combat with light shopkeeping simulation.

The sequel entered Early Access in late 2025 and has been expanded steadily since, with the 1.0 release bringing the full main story, new mechanics, and a proper ending to the campaign.

What’s New in Version 1.0

The 1.0 update is substantial. Here is what’s coming alongside the full launch:

  • Main story conclusion — the full narrative arc wraps up for the first time
  • New weapons and armour sets for dungeon runs and crafting
  • Bomb Path — a new combat ability that causes enemies to explode after taking enough hits, damaging those nearby
  • Shop upgrades — Will’s shop reaches its final level, unlocking additional Bloblet slots and cosmetic options
  • Infinite Endless Vault — an endless postgame dungeon challenge for players who want to keep going after the credits
  • Hardcore mode — permadeath consequences for those who want a serious test

The Demo Is Live — and the Original Is Free on Steam

The free demo is available across all platforms as of today. On Nintendo Switch 2, search Moonlighter 2 on the eShop and download the demo directly. The same applies to the PlayStation Store and Xbox marketplace.

PC players on Steam have until 9 August to claim the original Moonlighter for free — it stays in your library permanently after you add it. If you have been curious about the franchise, this is the easiest entry point: play the first game free, then try the sequel demo before deciding on 1.0 at launch.

Platforms, Pricing, and Physical Edition

The full release is set for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 2 September 2026. The game is also included in Game Pass from day one — one of the more notable day-one indie inclusions this year. Digital pricing has not yet been announced officially. SGD pricing is to be confirmed.

For collectors, a physical edition is confirmed for Switch 2, PS5, and PC on 13 November 2026 via Silver Lining Interactive. Singapore players should have access via standard regional distribution, though local retailer availability is to be confirmed closer to release.

Mistfall Hunter Launches July 29 on PS5, PC and Game Pass

Mistfall Hunter — the dark fantasy extraction ARPG from Bellring Games and Skystone Games — is launching in under two days. The game unlocks globally on 29 July 2026, which translates to 9 AM SGT on 30 July for Singapore players. It lands simultaneously on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Day 1 availability on Xbox Game Pass.

Into the Gyldenmist — What is Mistfall Hunter?

The premise sets the scene fast: a war between gods ended with every deity falling, their blood corrupting the earth into a creeping fog called the Gyldenmist. You are a Gyldhunter — part scavenger, part warrior — venturing into mist-shrouded zones to strip them of valuable resources and get out alive.

That last part is the catch. Die before you reach an extraction point and you lose everything you collected that run. The pressure is real and intentional. Mistfall Hunter wraps this extraction tension in a full third-person action RPG shell, adding talent trees, skill builds, and gem-affix gear customisation that give each run considerably more depth than a straight extraction shooter. Matches support solo play or three-player squads, with cross-platform play across PC, PS5 and Xbox.

Six Classes at Launch — and More Coming

Bellring Games ships with six distinct classes, each carrying two weapon stances and a deep talent tree:

  • Withered Knight — heavily armoured frontline brawler
  • Mercenary — flexible dual-weapon fighter
  • Sorcerer — long-range elemental caster
  • Blackarrow — precision ranged hunter
  • Shadowstrix — mobility-focused rogue
  • Seer — support and crowd-control specialist

The studio has confirmed a seasonal content roadmap with new classes, zones and story content rolling out post-launch — so the roster will grow. Nearly 430,000 players jumped in during the Steam Next Fest open beta, giving Bellring substantial community feedback to shape those updates.

Pricing, Platforms and Singapore Availability

Mistfall Hunter launches at USD 24.99 (Standard Edition) and USD 39.99 (Deluxe Edition), with the Deluxe bundle including cosmetics and 2,500 Fate Coins. A 10% launch discount applies across storefronts through 12 August 2026, bringing the Standard entry price down to roughly USD 22.49.

Singapore players can access the game through every available channel: the PlayStation Store for PS5, Steam for PC (the game supports Traditional Chinese and English), or via Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S or PC — no extra purchase needed if you’re already subscribed. SGD pricing will appear on each platform’s local storefront at launch. Bellring has confirmed zero pay-to-win mechanics and no paid stat boosts, which should put any cosmetic-store concerns to rest.

Persona 4 Revival: Chie’s Trailer Is Live — New VA, Same Iconic Kick

Atlus has released the Persona 4 Revival Chie Satonaka character trailer, putting the Investigation Team’s resident martial arts enthusiast in the spotlight ahead of the remake’s February 2027 launch. Singapore JRPG fans, the karate-green tracksuit is officially confirmed for the new era.

Chie Satonaka in Persona 4 Revival: Tomoe, Galactic Punts and a New Look

According to the official Persona 4 Revival Asia character page, Chie is described as “an energetic and sociable girl who sits next to the protagonist in class” with “a strong sense of justice” and a double passion for kung fu films and, naturally, meat. Her Persona is Tomoe — drawn from legendary female warrior Tomoe Gozen — and she fights up close, knocking enemies across the screen with physical skill-heavy combos.

Her iconic Galactic Punt is back and enhanced for the remake. Atlus has also introduced Series Finale attacks, high-damage super moves that function similarly to Persona 5 Royal’s Showtime sequences. In Chie’s case, her Prime Time Finish sends her and Tomoe diving in together for a devastating flying kick, exactly the kind of moment P-Studio knows fans wanted to see in full modern fidelity.

A New English Voice for a Beloved Fighter

Anne Yatco takes over as Chie’s English voice actress, replacing Erin Fitzgerald, who had voiced the character in Persona 4 Golden and through years of spin-offs and appearances. Atlus has recasted the entire English cast for Persona 4 Revival — the same total-recast approach the studio used for Persona 3 Reload — with Japanese voice actors reprising their original roles. Yui Horie, who has played Chie since the original 2008 Persona 4, returns in Japanese.

Fitzgerald addressed the change on Bluesky with a statement that resonated widely in the fan community, as reported by GamesRadar: “Everything in life is transient. I celebrate that the experience happened. I am grateful that I lived it FULLY. Thank you for sharing the journey with me.” She added a brief personal note to the characters she voiced alongside — Yukiko and Yosuke.

It is worth saying plainly: recasting a beloved English cast is always divisive, and Persona 4 Golden’s voice work is genuinely iconic for a generation of JRPG players. That said, Atlus’s handling of Persona 3 Reload’s new cast ultimately won most fans over once the game was in hand. The proof for Revival will be in the playthrough.

What Singapore Fans Need to Know Before February 2027

Atlus has been releasing individual character trailers at a steady pace: the protagonist Yu Narukami led the way, then Rise Kujikawa debuted at Anime Expo, then came Yosuke Hanamura, and now Chie. Still waiting in the wings: Yukiko Amagi, Kanji Tatsumi, Naoto Shirogane, and Teddie. Expect the trailer cadence to run through the rest of 2026.

Persona 4 Revival launches on 18 February 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). It hits Xbox Game Pass on Day One. Singapore fans can pre-order digitally now; local SGD pricing has not been confirmed yet. MAPPA is animating every cutscene, which sets a high bar for a Persona title visually. For P4 veterans on PS Vita and PS4, this is shaping up to be the definitive version of a game that has never been anything less than special.

Palworld 1.0 Is Out Now — Sky Islands, Wing Pack Flight and PvP Mode Go Live

After more than two years in Early Access, Palworld by Pocketpair has officially launched as Version 1.0 — and it is live right now on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, and Mac. This is the game’s biggest single update, adding new regions, a flight mechanic, expanded combat systems, and a full PvP mode.

World Tree and Sky Islands — Palworld’s New Endgame

The showpiece of Palworld 1.0 is the World Tree endgame zone, a massive new area that brings the main story to a close and serves as the gateway to the floating Sky Islands high above Palpagos. The Sky Islands introduce fresh biomes, new Pals to discover, and a level of vertical exploration that the base game never offered. Getting around up there requires the new Wing Pack — a dedicated gear slot that lets your character glide and fly freely, without taking up a Pal team slot. Some weapons reportedly support aerial combat while using it.

Weapon-Transforming Pals, PvP, and a Breeding Overhaul

New Pals in 1.0 include a reported “sword-eel-type Pal” that physically transforms into a wieldable blade mid-combat — the kind of creative creature design that made Palworld go viral in the first place. Alongside new Pals, Pocketpair has added a dedicated PvP mode where players can battle each other using weapons, mounts, and Pals. Advanced breeders get Genetic Recombination, a new system for fine-tuning Pal traits and performing legendary Pal fusions.

No Price Hike — What It Costs on Steam, PS5, and Game Pass

Pocketpair had originally floated the idea of increasing the price at 1.0, but confirmed ahead of launch that the game would keep its existing price as a thank-you to the Early Access community. On Steam, Palworld is currently S$18.20 (30% off its regular S$26.00 — check Steam for the current price as sales windows can shift). The game is also included with Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost. PS5 and Xbox buyers can find it on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store respectively at their regional pricing.

Existing Early Access owners on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation receive the 1.0 update for free. Your saves carry over, though Pocketpair recommends starting fresh to experience the reworked systems fully.

Palworld launched in January 2024 and became one of the fastest-selling games in Steam history, breaking two million concurrent players in its first week. Whether 1.0 pulls back lapsed players or wins over a fresh audience on PS5 and Mac, it is a notable moment for a game that went from viral phenomenon to a genuine full release — all without the Nintendo lawsuit ending things early. Keep up with the latest at our Game News section.
