The first arc of Sparks of Tomorrowwhich we covered when the series premiered on Netflix in July — followed Kihachi Yoshida and sake brewer Inako Kintoki on a frantic search for the mythical “20th Century Electricity Catalog,” a lost compendium of electrical knowledge hidden somewhere in Meiji-era Japan. Arc 2 picks up that thread and moves the hunt to Shiga, where the missing second half of the Catalog is said to be located.

The arc premiere episode preview also drops a significant personal complication: Inako appears to accept a marriage proposal from Yosuke, a choice that threatens to end the partnership at the worst possible moment. Meanwhile, Kihachi’s older brother Seiroku steps into a more prominent role as the search enters its most consequential phase.
