Isekai fans, take note — Dankatsu (ゲーム世界転生〈ダン活〉), the light novel series about a hardcore gamer who loses every hour of his save data and wakes up reincarnated inside his favourite dungeon RPG, has been confirmed for a TV anime adaptation premiering January 2027. A teaser visual dropped today (10 August) alongside confirmation that voice actor Yuto Uemura will play protagonist Zephyrus — making this one of the more interesting isekai picks to watch for Singapore anime fans heading into 2027.
What Is Dankatsu About?
The premise is tailor-made for anyone who has ever put thousands of hours into a game. The player known as Zephyrus has clocked over 8,000 hours in the dungeon RPG Dankatsu — a game of staggering depth, with 1,021 playable job classes and more than 400 possible endings. He knows every optimal build, every job combination, every dungeon secret, and every hidden ending route. Then all his save data is catastrophically wiped and he dies of the shock.
He wakes up reincarnated inside the world of Dankatsu itself, starting from scratch — a real-life New Game. The hook is what makes the series tick: he has all the meta-knowledge of a player who mastered the game in its entirety, but now has to live through it for real, in a world with actual consequences. Dankatsu Anime — Production Details
The adaptation will be produced by STUDIO MASSKET, directed by Nagisa Miyazaki. Yuto Uemura (上村祐翔) is confirmed in the lead role as Zephyrus, a casting that was announced across Oricon and multiple Japanese media outlets today. No additional cast announcements have been made yet. The premiere window is January 2027, with no specific broadcast date confirmed within that month.

The Light Novel and Manga — What to Read Now
The source light novel was written by Kaede Nishikigi and illustrated by Shuri (朱里), published by TO Books under the TO Bunko imprint. The series originated as a web novel on Kakuyomu in January 2021, was picked up for print publication in 2022, and has grown to 16 volumes with over 400,000 copies in print and digital as of this announcement.
