The very talented James C.Mulligan and his Disney Paintings.

Toys and toys

These are toys meant for the big kids. It is very rare for one to find such a full display of figurines at a single place. Our favourite this year is the Shogun Batman which comes with switchable arms.

XM Studio has a long line-up of impressive figurines displayed in the middle of the showfloor. Each item on display is a collectible on it’s own. So while you may not have the money to buy all of them home, you should definitely take as many pictures as you can.

An entire line for your eyes to feast upon!

Be sure to also visit Tamashii Nation booth which has a dark room toy display.

Be a Jedi

Fight Saber Singapore is a local club that where you can actually learn how to fight with an actual Light Saber! These Light Sabers used are not your usual fragile collector’s item. They are built for actual Light Saber fight! Visit their booth to find out more.

Singapore Pavilion

The indie gaming industry in Singapore while small, is a growing fairly quick in recently year. Singapore Games Guild started by a group of passionate gamers aims to support holistic game developers. If you are a budding indie developer or interested in local indie games this is a booth you must visit. Located right in the middle of the GGXP area besides the free play zone. Try out some of these indies game built by our local talent. You will be surprise by the high quality of some of these games.

We heard that this could be the last STGCC in Singapore. Next year, the same show will be rebranded as Singapore Comic Con which we thought could be a better name for this event. The event is happening now at Sands Expo from 8 to 9 September 2018.

For gamers, the Good Game Experience (GGXP) show which is co-located with STGCC is an entire floor just for gamers. The World Electronic Sports Game (WESG) supported by Alisports (Alibaba Group’s sports branch) and local esports initiative Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) will be holding the Singapore qualifier at GGXP this year. See Gaming Athletes battling out in games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Dota 2, Starcraft II and Vainglory. Lend your support to your favourite local esports teams at WESG stage arena as the battle to represent Singapore in the finals.

Of course, for the first time this year GameTrader.SG is partnering with STGCC and GGXP to bring a unique game trading experience to gamers. Unlike other shows where you simply selling your games at a low price to game shop, the GameTrader.SG’s event aims to help you sell your game directly to gamers at the show. While we do not buy back your game, you can simply drop off your game at our booth and potentially sell them at a much higher price. Buyers can view the catalogue of games available (more information here) and purchase them from our booth. If we manage to help you sell your game, you will receive your money at the end of the day! It’s that simple.

More information

We are also organising multiple ‘Meet and Trade’ sessions. Come down with your console game and trade on spot with other gamers according to the schedule which is available here.

So remember to bring your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox and Nintendo switch games to the show! Other game consoles are also welcomed.

As usual, we will be doing the media coverage for the event on the actual day and bring the event to you via our blog. Also do visit our booth at the GGXP show booth GA2! See you on the 8th and 9th of September!

Japan Park 2018

The inaugural Japan Park 2018 is happening now at Suntec Convention Center Hall 403 and 404 from 4th of August to 5th of August. The tagline of the event is “Play, Get and Taste a selection from 47 Prefectures”. Be sure to come with an empty stomach so that you can eat your fill at the event itself. You can also buy a piece of ‘Japan’ back home in form of a tatami at The Tatami Shop.

Event Map

The entrance fee is SGD15 for a day and SGD25 for two days. The area itself isn’t that big that would warrant a two full day visits. However, if there are performances at the main stage that you wish to catch on both day, the two day pass will be suitable for you. There are other special package ticket which comes with either a special Keisuke Ramen or a VIP ticket for Poppin’Party, a popular girl band in Japan. More information at this link.

CharaExpo Mini

CharaExpo Mini

Unlike the last CharaExpo, this mini edition is definitely not comparable to the full scale CharaExpo of last year. The area is much smaller than the previous year. However, for fans of  BanG Dream!, this year CharaExpo will not disappoint you. Members from Poppin’Party will be performing live at the Omakase stage on the last day of Japan Park.

Poppin’Party

There was also a Yukata talk show on the first day where all the fans get to meet the members of Poppin’Party.

Giant posters for you to take picture

Other than BanG! Dream, Love Live is also another franchise that is promoted at this year CharaExpo Mini. There is a booth dedicated to Love Live where a big screen version of the popular Love Live School Idol Festival is available for you to try.

You can also get merchandises at the Bushiroad booth located in CharaExpo Mini. Some items are already sold out on Day 1. So make sure to get them quickly if you have decided on what to buy.

Experience Japan

Japan Park

There are a few unique Japan experience you can get to try out at Japan park. Koka city is known as the city of Ninja in Japan. Try your hands at shooting some ninja shuriken at a target. It is definitely not as simple as you think.

Koka Ninja

Matsuri game is another popular activity enjoyed by many in Japan during any Matsuri (festival). There are however only two games available at the Maturi Game booth.

For the tea lovers, you can get an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony experience . There are limited time slot so you may wish to register earlier with the staff.

Food at WA-Shiok Gourmet Festa

WA-Shiok
Gourmet Festa

The WA-ShiokGourmet Festa is where you will find some of the best Japanese restaurants that are available in Singapore. With 18 stores including Keisuke Ramen, Ginza Lion and Menya Sakura, you will be able to enjoy all the different food together at the same time.

The event uses a cashless token system. Your wristband is how you will pay. Do note that the credits inside are non-refundable, so top-up them gradually and not at a single go.

Japan Park is definitely an event for Japanese lover. The event itself covers a broad base of Japanese Culture. However, the breadth comes at the expense of depth. It doesn’t feel like a Matsuri to me, nor does it feels like an Anime/Manga event. Nonetheless, Japan Park is a good to visit for the weekend for all the Japanese lovers out there.
