The wait is over \u2014 Code Vein II: Mask of Idris<\/strong> is out today (9 September) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, bringing a new post-game story, two new partners and a suite of weapons to Bandai Namco’s anime action RPG. As we covered when the expansion was announced in August<\/a>, this one is post-game content \u2014 but the simultaneously released free Update 2.01 delivers a chunk of new features for every Code Vein II player, DLC or not.<\/p>\n

Into the Forsaken World \u2014 What the Mask of Idris Expansion Adds<\/h2>\n

The expansion’s story unfolds in the Forsaken World<\/strong>, a realm born from Temporal Rifts \u2014 alternate spaces that branch off from historical turning points altered by the legendary revenant Idris. At its centre churns the Spindle of Pathos, a force drawing emotions across time that threatens to consume the protagonists’ own world.<\/p>\n

Two new partners join the roster. Liv Voda<\/strong> is the combative guardian of the Temporal Rift who wields a Halberd and a Formae called Chariot Rave; her support ability, Mad Blood Dance, temporarily boosts your attack power. The second new companion, Lou Magmell<\/strong>, is a different individual from the Lou encountered in the main story, one who entered the Forsaken World after a separate tragedy of their own.<\/p>\n

On the weapons side, the expansion adds the Grave Knocker<\/strong> \u2014 a martial-arts Formae compatible with all weapon types that emphasises aerial kicks \u2014 and the Sword of Karma: Idris<\/strong>, a flame-imbued great sword with extended combo chains. To access the campaign, you’ll need to have reached the Luna Fraterna ending in the main game and completed the sub-mission Valentin’s Request.<\/p>\n
