Nintendo used today’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct<\/a> to finally give the Ocarina of Time<\/em> remake a date: 5 November 2026<\/strong>, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Alongside the date came the most substantial gameplay showing yet \u2014 a jump button, full voice acting, a real ocarina accessory, and enough new content to make even veterans feel like they’re returning to Hyrule for the first time.<\/p>\n

November 5, 2026 \u2014 The Date Is Set<\/h2>\n

When Nintendo first revealed the remake back in June<\/a>, it came with a vague 2026 window and a handful of screenshots. Today’s Direct locked in the exact date and confirmed the game is available for pre-order right now. November 5<\/strong> puts it about a fortnight ahead of GTA VI, giving Switch 2 owners a massive exclusive before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Singapore players can pre-order digitally through the Nintendo eShop with a Singapore Nintendo Account, or watch for pre-order listings at major game retailers and electronics chains. No Singapore-specific launch event has been announced yet.<\/p>\n

What Nintendo Rebuilt \u2014 and What’s New<\/h2>\n

This is not a remaster. The art direction has been described as “stylised realism” \u2014 Link and the world of Hyrule are rendered in a style closer to a Pixar film than the N64 original, while still being unmistakably Ocarina<\/em>. Key gameplay changes confirmed in today’s showcase:<\/p>\n

  • Jump button<\/strong> \u2014 Link can jump freely on demand, replacing the original’s context-sensitive auto-jump.<\/li>\n
  • Full camera control<\/strong> \u2014 no more fixed angles; you pan and rotate freely throughout.<\/li>\n
  • Voice acting in cutscenes<\/strong> \u2014 all major characters are now voiced. Matthew Mercer reprises his role as Ganondorf.<\/li>\n
  • Expanded Hyrule Castle Town<\/strong> \u2014 the town is now a fully explorable open area with new shops, NPCs and side content.<\/li>\n
  • Threads of Time<\/strong> \u2014 a new in-game screen that tracks the story, active objectives and world lore.<\/li>\n
  • Improved traversal<\/strong> \u2014 faster swimming, a dedicated dash, and gyroscopic aiming with motion controls.<\/li>\n
  • Seamless area transitions<\/strong> \u2014 many spaces load without transition screens, though Hyrule Field and dungeons retain their original loading screens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Hum to Summon \u2014 The Ocarina Mechanic<\/h2>\n

    The ocarina songs \u2014 Saria’s Song, Epona’s Song, Zelda’s Lullaby and the rest \u2014 have always been the emotional spine of the original game. The remake takes full advantage of the Switch 2’s built-in microphone: you can hum a melody into the controller<\/strong> and the game will recognise it and play it back in-scene. Button inputs still work for anyone who prefers the traditional method.<\/p>\n

    On top of that, Nintendo is selling a physical ocarina instrument<\/strong> separately. It connects wirelessly and lets you play the actual notes on a real ocarina to trigger in-game events \u2014 a novelty, but one that feels genuinely in-character for a franchise built around music. Pricing for the accessory has not been announced for the Singapore market.<\/p>\n
