The story kicks off at the Printing Bureau&#8217;s Nagano factory, where Conan, the Junior Detective Boys, Professor Agasa, Ran, and Sonoko have gathered to witness the launch of a redesigned 10,000-yen note \u2014 only for a murder victim to turn up with counterfeit bills at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>What follows escalates into a national crisis, pulling in police agencies from multiple prefectures and sending Conan and Heiji Hattori to Osaka, believed to be where the counterfeits are being printed. It is described as featuring an unprecedented all-star cast \u2014 expect virtually every major recurring character to get screen time across the two hours.<\/p>\n<p>The last time a TV-format Conan special ran at two hours was 2016&#8217;s <em>Episode ONE: The Deduction Showdown That Shrank the Great Detective<\/em>, which re-told the series&#8217; origin story. The character is central to identifying the counterfeit currency, making her a key ally in Conan&#8217;s investigation rather than a side role.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the scenes, the special is directed by <strong>Kamanaka Fumiharu<\/strong>, who previously helmed the well-received <em>Police Academy Arc: Wild Police Story<\/em> spin-off, and written by <strong>Sakurai Takeharu<\/strong>, a theatrical film veteran whose credits include <em>Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine<\/em>. Katsuo Ohno, the composer behind the series&#8217; iconic score since its 1996 debut, returns to provide the music. Closer to the special&#8217;s airdate, YouTuber <strong>HIKAKIN<\/strong> is set to host a Season 1 marathon viewing on 20\u201323 September.<\/p>\n<p>Also announced as part of the 30th anniversary slate is an interactive anime called <em>\u4e09\u5341\u4e00\u5cf6\u306e\u6bba\u4eba<\/em> (<em>Thirty-One Island Murder Case<\/em>), a novel format where viewers can attempt to deduce the culprit themselves before the reveal \u2014 a fitting meta-celebration for a show built entirely on audience participation in mystery-solving. Details on broadcast and release are to be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>For those in and around Japan, the series will appear at the <strong>Kyoto International Manga &amp; Anime Fair<\/strong> from 19\u201320 September, and a commemorative fireworks show is planned for <strong>21 November<\/strong> in Yokohama.<\/p>\n<p>As for Singapore fans: the regular weekly series streams on Crunchyroll \u2014 see our <a href=\"\/blog\/category\/manga-anime\/\">anime coverage<\/a> for related news, but no international streaming date for this two-hour special has been confirmed yet.
