Starting this Sunday 7 September<\/strong>, Simply Toys is transforming the Level 1 Atrium of City Square Mall<\/strong> (180 Kitchener Road) into Matsuri Square \u2014 a week-long Japanese festival pop-up centred on three hot anime franchises: Jujutsu Kaisen<\/em>, Dandadan<\/em>, and The Apothecary Diaries<\/em>. Free entry, exclusive collectibles, and life-size character photo ops all in one place until 13 September.<\/p>\n

JJK, Dandadan and Apothecary Diaries Photo Ops at City Square Mall<\/h2>\n

The centrepiece of Matsuri Square is a set of three larger-than-life character installations<\/strong> set up for photos \u2014 all free to use. Jujutsu Kaisen<\/em> fans get to pose alongside Satoru Gojo<\/strong>; The Apothecary Diaries<\/em> places you in the inner court beside Maomao<\/strong>; and Dandadan<\/em> brings the supernatural in the form of Turbo Granny<\/strong>. All three photo ops are up for the full seven days, so weekday visits will be less crowded.<\/p>\n

Atrium A runs festival-themed booths throughout the week, with interactive game booths joining from Friday to Sunday<\/strong> (11\u201313 September). If you want to try the games and grab merch in one trip, the weekend slots are your best bet.<\/p>\n

Collectibles, Limited Buys and a Toy Art Exhibition<\/h2>\n

Simply Toys will stock exclusive merchandise, limited-time special buys, and fan-favourite collectibles<\/strong> throughout the event. Specific product lines and pricing have not been announced ahead of opening day \u2014 follow Simply Toys on Instagram (@simplytoyssg<\/a>) for previews closer to the weekend.<\/p>\n

Atrium B adds a creative dimension: visual storytelling educator Takahan Tan<\/strong> \u2014 creator of the Takahan Toy Art Museum \u2014 presents an exhibition there from Monday to Thursday (8\u201311 September), before emerging artists take over from Friday through Sunday. It is a genuinely different draw from the main merchandise floor.<\/p>\n

Anime Earth Follows in Late September<\/h2>\n

Matsuri Square is part of City Square Mall\u2019s PlayVerse: Shop, Play & Discover campaign<\/strong>, running from 4 September to 11 October 2026. Once Matsuri Square closes, the next pop-up is Anime Earth by Singapore Cosplay Club<\/strong> (28 September \u2013 4 October) \u2014 an anime merchandise marketplace with works from emerging artists, themed booths, and interactive games. Free drawing workshops<\/strong> run on 3 and 4 October (2pm and 4pm sessions each day; registration required).<\/p>\n

Getting There and CityNexus Perks<\/h2>\n
