Capcom’s Gamescom 2026 debut<\/a> for Mega Man: Dual Override<\/em> showed the game existed \u2014 Opening Night Live on August 25 showed it in full swing. The new ONL gameplay trailer introduced the first brand-new Robot Master for the game, revealed the return of Proto Man, and explained the Override System that the game is named after.<\/p>\n

Meet Twinkle Girl \u2014 and Proto Man’s New Look<\/h2>\n

The headline reveal is Twinkle Girl, designated DWN-089. Capcom describes her as “rather pleasant and whimsical” \u2014 though she is still very much hostile to Mega Man. The trailer also brings back Astro Man as a returning face, and closes with updated key art featuring Proto Man in a striking new design alongside Mega Man. In a nod to Mega Man’s history, Capcom showed a new suit for the Blue Bomber that the studio says could be the power gained from defeating Twinkle Girl, or a separate armour transformation in the vein of the Mega Man X<\/em> series.<\/p>\n

The Override System Explained<\/h2>\n

The game’s name is now fully explained. Players collect Custom Chips<\/strong> through each stage, which modify Mega Man’s abilities and feed into the Override System<\/strong> \u2014 Capcom’s description is that it lets players “tap into overwhelming power.” The trailer showed several new movement options in action: a hover ability, a mechanic that lets Mega Man phase through certain enemies, and Rush the dog making a confirmed return as a companion. The classic run-and-shoot foundation is intact; the chips and Override System add a build-crafting layer on top of it.<\/p>\n

The story frames things around a Robot Exhibition gone wrong in Dr. Light’s absence \u2014 robots are running rampant, and it is up to Mega Man and Proto Man to restore order. Capcom’s tagline: “Override your limits and uncover the truth behind the incident.”<\/em><\/p>\n
