Three brand-new characters are officially named, the director&#8217;s chair has changed hands, and the January 2027 premiere is locked in \u2014 <a href=\"\/blog\/sakamoto-days-season-2-netflix-january-2027\/\">as we first reported when Season 2 was announced in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Three New Characters Set to Complicate the JCC Infiltration Arc<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gametrader.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sakamoto-days-s2-other-version-scaled.jpg?w=474&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sakamoto Days Season 2 new teaser visual \u2014 Sakamoto and Shin with glowing yellow detail\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><figcaption>Image courtesy of TMS Entertainment \/ Netflix<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Season 2 adapts the JCC Infiltration Arc, sending Taro Sakamoto undercover into Japan Clear Creation (JCC) \u2014 the country&#8217;s foremost assassin training academy \u2014 disguised as his own wife Aoi (his randomly assigned exam weapon: a pen). His partner Shin Asakura enrols as a student. Their target is the enigmatic killer-of-killers known only as Slur. Standing in their way will be three freshly announced faces:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Amane<\/strong> \u2014 a top-ranking JCC student who harbours deep resentment toward the Assassin&#8217;s Alliance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Satota<\/strong> \u2014 the longest-serving teacher at JCC, and the very man who once trained Sakamoto himself.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yotsumura<\/strong> \u2014 one of the mysterious founding members of the shadowy organisation ORDER.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Returning favourites Natsuki Seba and Akira Akao are also confirmed back for Season 2.<\/p>\n<h2>New Director, Same Studio, Fresh Energy<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gametrader.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sakamoto-days-s2-trailer-still.png?w=474&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Character still from Sakamoto Days Season 2 trailer \u2014 intense close-up of a character in dark jacket\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><figcaption>Image courtesy of TMS Entertainment \/ Netflix<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Season 2 sees a significant change behind the camera. <strong>Daisuke Nakajima<\/strong>, who served as an episode director in Season 1, is promoted to series director. Original director <strong>Masaki Watanabe<\/strong> steps up to chief director, staying closely involved in the production rather than stepping away. The rest of the core team remains unchanged: Yo Moriyama returns as character designer, Taku Kishimoto continues as series composition writer, and Studio TMS Entertainment handles animation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbr.com\/netflix-sakamoto-days-season-2-official-trailer\/\">Netflix&#8217;s press materials (as relayed by CBR)<\/a>, Nakajima said: &#8220;I am honored to be working on such a popular Shonen Jump title.
