After we reported Bethesda’s August 11 launch date and full-cartridge confirmation back in July, the game landed on schedule this morning — and day-one performance tests deliver a largely reassuring verdict for Singapore Switch 2 owners who have been wondering whether to pull the trigger.

Editions and Pricing

Two editions are on sale today:

Standard Edition (digital only) — US$49.99. Includes the full base game, both major expansions (Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine), and all eight legacy DLC packs.

Deluxe Edition (physical and digital) — US$59.99. Everything in Standard, plus exclusive Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armour, weapon, and horse armour sets with associated quests.

The physical Deluxe Edition ships the full base game on cartridge — no day-one download needed to play the story. The digital version weighs in at 61.4 GB, so factor in download time if you are going digital.

How It Actually Performs

Bethesda targets 30fps in both modes — 900p handheld and 1080p docked, each with DLSS upscaling. Day-one testing from multiple outlets finds the port largely meets that goal where it matters:

Indoor areas, dungeons, and towns: 30fps holds comfortably. Imperial City, Kvatch, and indoor dungeon crawls run consistently and responsively.

Open-world traversal: the same traversal hitches and brief frame dips that have been present on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S since the April 2025 launch carry over to Switch 2. They are most noticeable when running across Cyrodiil’s fields.

The overall early verdict is better than feared. Pre-release leaked footage had sparked concern that the port would be unplayable, but the shipped version is meaningfully more stable. If you have already lived with the stutters on PS5 or PC, you will know what to expect here.

Switch 2-Specific Features

Bethesda leveraged Switch 2 hardware in a few ways beyond raw resolution:

Motion controls — Joy-Con 2 gyro support for aiming bows and magic targeting.

Touchscreen — tap to navigate menus, inventory, and the in-game map while in handheld mode.

Mouse mode — left-hand or right-hand mouse option when docked, giving PC-style cursor control.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — Nintendo Switch 2 Date Reveal, via Bethesda Softworks on YouTube

Worth Buying on Switch 2?

Portable Oblivion is a genuinely exciting proposition. This is a 200-plus-hour open-world RPG that you can take on a commute or a long-haul flight — something impossible until today. For players who have never visited Cyrodiil, the Switch 2 version is a terrific entry point at a reasonable price for the sheer amount of content it packs in.

If you already own the PS5 or PC version and are sensitive to open-world frame-rate dips, there is no strong reason to double-dip for the Switch 2 port. But for handheld-first players and Switch 2 owners looking for their next big RPG, Oblivion Remastered is one of the most content-rich options on the system right now.

Oblivion Remastered is available now on the Nintendo eShop and through major game retailers and electronics chains in Singapore.
