If you&#8217;ve been following its reveal in Japanese game media, the wait is finally over. You arrive as a wandering stranger, the villagers take you in, and in exchange you work the land \u2014 growing crops, tending livestock, hunting, fishing, and crafting furniture to decorate your home. So far, so cosy. But Kagatsu runs on eight strict rules, and the game does not let you forget them.<\/p>\n<p>The studio behind the game is <strong>NIS Team Yomawari<\/strong>, the same internal team at Nippon Ichi Software responsible for the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/3934250\/Village_in_the_Shade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yomawari<\/a> survival horror series. Three of the most prominent, as confirmed by Nippon Ichi Software, are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t talk to strangers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t leave the village.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t go out at night.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The game does not spell out what happens if you break them. That ambiguity is intentional \u2014 it creates a slow-burn tension running beneath every harvest and every chat with a neighbour. Players can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cultivate crops and tend fields across the seasons<\/li>\n<li>Raise livestock including chickens, cows, and horses, and process goods like cheese<\/li>\n<li>Hunt and fish to supplement the village pantry<\/li>\n<li>Craft furniture and decorative items to personalise your home and garden<\/li>\n<li>Build relationships with the cast of villagers through helping them and joining festivals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The hand-painted visual style \u2014 which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gamer.net\/games\/933\/G093331\/20260730028\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4Gamer.net (Japanese)<\/a> highlighted in its launch coverage today \u2014 gives the game a watercolour feel that sets it apart from the pixel-art norm in the farming-sim genre.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gametrader.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/village-in-the-shade-screenshot-4.jpg?w=474&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Village in the Shade \u2014 character and environment art\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><figcaption>Image courtesy of Nippon Ichi Software<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>When Does Village in the Shade Come to Singapore?<\/h2>\n<p>NIS America <a href=\"https:\/\/www.animenewsnetwork.com\/press-release\/2026-03-25\/nis-america-inc-to-release-village-in-the-shade-fall-2026\/.235734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in March 2026<\/a> that Village in the Shade will release in English for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam) in <strong>Fall 2026<\/strong>. No exact date or SGD pricing has been confirmed yet.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to play before the English release, the Japanese version launched today on Steam under the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/3934250\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Village in the Shade Steam page<\/a> \u2014 the game interface is currently in Japanese, so keep that in mind. A physical edition for Japan is also available.
