After years of near-total silence, Cygames has confirmed that three of its most anticipated projects \u2014 action RPG Project Awakening<\/strong>, real-time tactics game Lost Order<\/strong>, and fantasy action game Garnet Arena: Mages of Magicary<\/strong> \u2014 are all still in active development. The confirmation comes via a Weekly Famitsu interview<\/a> with Cygames president Koichi Watanabe, published as part of the magazine\u2019s 15th anniversary cover feature on the studio behind Granblue Fantasy and Granblue Fantasy: Relink.<\/p>\n

Project Awakening Is Alive and \u201cStarting to Take Shape\u201d<\/h2>\n

Of the three titles, Project Awakening has the longest waiting list. The action RPG was first announced at Cygames NEXT 2016<\/a>, resurfaced as a PS4 title at the PlayStation LineUp Tour in 2018, had a demo rated in 2019 that never released, and then went almost completely dark \u2014 save for appearing in parent company CyberAgent\u2019s financial reports. That makes Watanabe\u2019s words here genuinely welcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cDevelopment [on Project Awakening] is, of course, steadily progressing,\u201d Watanabe said, as reported by Gematsu from the Famitsu interview<\/a>. \u201cWhat I can say at the moment is that it is really starting to take shape. Everyone on the team is working each day with a real sense of confidence that things are coming together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked whether the 2018 trailer still reflects the game\u2019s direction, Watanabe clarified: \u201cIf you\u2019re asking, \u2018Is it exactly the same?\u2019, I\u2019d say it\u2019s a little different. The overall direction remains largely the same, but as development has progressed, we\u2019ve continued polishing it by adding new elements here and there.\u201d Cygames also shared new Project Awakening footage directly with Famitsu during the interview \u2014 none of which has been made public yet.<\/p>\n
